Oh, I thought you meant the blood drawing. NVM I don't remember Flemeth being all over the place in DAI. Flemeth: Must I be in only one place? Bodies are such limiting things.

Okay I found out, it is freecam screenshot of Flemeth and Morigan's child before interacting with them. I had never noticed that blood-painted serpent before.
Thanks for your great help there.

An original story with animation for better visuals from dwarves, qunari and magical creatures is what I've always wanted from a dragon age tv series.
I'm excited!

This isn't Minrathous, so that leaves Vyrantium (with no aqueducts) and any other coastal city in Tevinter we don't know anything about that might have circles like Carastes Vyrantium (overlooking the Silent Plains) would be my guess as well. The geography lines up. If not in Tevinter, maybe Hossberg.

The geography lines up. If not in Tevinter, maybe Hossberg. looks like a rocky barren sort of area and that looks like the head of a huge andraste statue. So I'd guess Anderfels, their big on big andraste statues and the terrain looks right.

Out just in time for Christmas viewing. So I was thinking, does this give us some idea of the architecture they will be using in the game? What is the significance of the ring? Clearly it is very Tevinter in style and possibly associated with Razikale? "This ring and no other was made by the elves, who'd pawn their own mother to have it themselves..."* *quote from a fantasy classic Bored of the Rings by Harvard Lampoon perhaps?
That was a fun book I read as a teenager over 40 years ago ...

Doesn't look like it's on an island nor is the floating circle/razikale temple visible. Vyrantium is next to a river close to the coast, and atleast one building had domes, but it's floating aqueduct isn't visable either. Could be another coastline Tevinter City. Like Asariel or Marnus Pell (perhaps even Carastes or Neromenian if it's set before the qun took them).

I wonder if we'll have this weapon style in DA4. Two Daggers with an extendable cord between them. Looks like it's a little different than Hook & Tackle, designed for a quick ranged attack with one dagger, then snapped back with the other. Probably doubles as a garrote.

Tim Sheridan 🏳️🌈 @iamtimsheridan DA fans are gonna be happy; this show is Dragon Age to its core. But it’s also a great entry point for new fans of the franchise. Can’t wait for you to see! 🐉⚔️🏰
(I know. Predicting that fans are gonna be happy is dangerous business. But I really believe it!!)

No obvious insignias or affiliations... I wonder if they are Lords of Fortune? If that's the direction they're going for with the protag in DA:D, then this would be a good way to introduce that organization to a wider audience.

So my biggest question here is about the timeline...CSI BSN away!...
But I was just wondering that if this will serve as a direct lead in to DA:D in terms of timeline, IE set after Dragon Age Inquisition in Tevinter or Northern Thedas or if its set sometime before the Dragon Age, more or less. And if it is the latter case then I wonder if it will still connect somehow. Obviously the Qunari seem to give us an earliest possible date in the Thedas timeline...and I wonder how that kind of interesting looking maguffin could relate to what is going on given it has 'ancient artifact' vibe.

Now the assumption would be that those are dragon heads or could it be a reference to when Mythal turned herself into a great serpent in order to entice Andruil into a confrontation with her? The serpent waited at the base of a mountain, possibly encircling it, or may be it is recalling how she encircled Andruil. I hadn't seen that art before but the fact it was in Flemeth's lair in the Fade and the other story was recorded in the Temple of Mythal, might point to a link between them. I've long suspected that Andruil was one of the chief instigators in Mythal's murder and she certainly would have had a grudge against her, along with Falon'Din, who is the other god who had a major confrontation with Mythal. It will be interesting to see if the ring is totally unconnected to the elves or finally confirms the link between the Evanuris and the Old Gods.

If that's the direction they're going for with the protag in DA:D, then this would be a good way to introduce that organization to a wider audience. Even if the protagonist isn't going to be a Lord of Fortune, this does seem a group that the writers have been giving greater prominence to of late. If they are at the centre of the story in this animation, that would go with the general trend in Tevinter Nights and they do seem a group that seems to confine their activities to the north for the most part, unless specifically hired to undertake a job further south, which I suppose is the reason we will be given why we have never heard of them before. A Vashoth mage would most likely have gravitated towards such a group and, of course, outside of the main cities of Rivain, the Chantry has never held too much sway, whilst the natives are accustomed to having a mage among them. Rivaini seers are even reputed to allow themselves to be deliberately possessed (by a spirit of wisdom?) in order to gain knowledge, so the locals wouldn't even be freaked out by the thought of such a thing. I think it's Bharv from Tevinter Nights. He was a Rivaini dwarf. That is a distinct possibility. Even if the group as a whole aren't Lords of Fortune, he could have been responsible for bringing them together.

But I was just wondering that if this will serve as a direct lead in to DA:D in terms of timeline, IE set after Dragon Age Inquisition in Tevinter or Northern Thedas or if its set sometime before the Dragon Age, more or less. It has to be in the Dragon Age and can't be before the freeing of Corypheus because they specifically mention Red Templars being involved. In fact, they only emerged as a threat after the exploding Chantry and Meredith going into melt down. So, whilst it is possible there could be a flash back to ancient times, the principle action is going to be after 9:38. Now Varric, Isabella, Alistair and Maevaris were involved with defeating the dragon cultist, Aurelian Titus on Seheron in the period between 9:38 and 9:40, so this story could be set around that time but further south. In which case, any of the main coastal cities of Tevinter could come into play. However, I think it is far more likely this is going to be another link story into Dreadwolf and even if the plot is unconnected, it will introduce characters we are going to encounter in the game. If that is Bharv, then likely it takes place after his story in Tevinter Nights, so some time between, say, 9:45 and 9:52, when we assume Dreadwolf will be taking place. It can't be earlier than that because Bharv met with Vaea as she was heading north into Tevinter (confirmed by the writer of the comics) and this was after the Exalted Council at the end of 9:44 May be the ring is going to be important in some way, though. Bharv's group was asked to recover that healing amulet which was then passed to the Inquisition via Vaea, so likely to feature as an item we can use. The ring could be a similar item. Perhaps it can prevent mind reading by a certain person, or prevent petrification, or may be some other function that has yet to be revealed.

Hope this is no way related to Dragon Age Dreadwolf time period Really don't want to have a bunch of important game characters end up being spin offs of a TV series or vice versa. It wouldn't be the first time. Cassandra began life in an animated series, Cole came from Asunder and whilst we didn't get a companion specifically from Masked Empire, Celene, Gaspard, Briala, Michel, Mhris and Imshael all feature in DAI as major NPCs. So long as they don't expect players to have watched the series to know the characters, I don't have a problem with that. That said, I did read Masked Empire and assumed my Dalish spy would have done his background research on the first three before he attended the Winter Palace Ball. He knew what Celene had done to the elves of Halamshiral so that did inform his decision. Fiona had also appeared in two books, the Calling and Asunder. I didn't read the former and the Fiona in DAI seemed so different to the one in Asunder, that I discounted any previous knowledge I had of her. I think the characters in the TV series are likely to be new ones, at least where previous games are concerned, so they don't upset fans by depicting them differently to how we have experienced them. It is possible there may be some cross over between Tevinter Nights and Absolution but we shall have to wait and see.

I'm pretty sure that symbol is in other places in DAI, where blood magic was used mostly. In Jaws of Hakkon, Razikale's Reach has a big ouroboros statue too. So it's not the only cases of that symbol being used in-setting. Speaking of Hakkon, he fits the ouroboros (he's the dragon of death/war/winter). Actually, the Avaar are big on the circle of death (destruction) and rebirth (for spirits at least)...
