The Mass Effect games are known for having your main player hub (i.e. Home) be the starship that you command. As such, were very likely to see a similar trend in the next title. In the past, both thr Normandy and the Tempest were effectively Reconnaissance/Exploratory vessels, leading to their sleek designs. Do you think it's time for our next protagonist to have a larger vessel, or one that operates more as a "peace-keeping" ship? Or, do you think the current design of the ships we've piloted is good enough? Maybe you think it's time we choose (or even customize) our own ships.
I'm sure there's pros and cons to any of them.

I'd say being able to customise your own ship. So that the ship feels like it's yours.

I'm fine with customizing the interior, it should not take a lot of resources away from making the worlds we visit or impact the storyline. But put enough effort into it to do it well ... not like Anderson's apartment in the Citadel DLC. That said, I'd also be fine with a ship that lacked any customization, that presented itself as totally utilitarian and lacking any luxurious accommodations.
Size wise, a scout ship/frigate/corvette type of craft seems about right for Mass Effect. A youngish protag could well be in charge of a small vessel.
A larger "capital ship" would be commanded by a far more senior person, probably someone a bit old to lead missions. Also, a larger ship and its resulting crew would require a lot of resources to make it seem both alive and functional as opposed to just a fixed set piece. The efforts to make that larger ship come alive would be significant ... and if the only purpose was to move from Point A to Point B, a waste of resources. If those resources were used to justify "Peacekeeping In Spaaaaaaace" (i.e. space battles), that would take A LOT more resources that I think would be better used on exploring other planets and space stations ... as well as character development.
TL;DR: Small ships are a good fit. I'm fine with customizing them, but it's a "nice to have" feature that I wouldn't miss if it wasn't there.

I'd say being able to customise your own ship. So that the ship feels like it's yours. Are you saying you do think your squadmates need to live in cargo holds or underneath the engine room? Don't be silly.
Yeah, I've played games where you have to decide what things are more important. More room for sleep means more squad, but maybe you lose out on weapons or speed. That's not a bad idea and really helps dictate if the ship has to run or engage.

I want to customize the ship. Go to the local galaxy chop shop to have whatever changes done to the interior and exterior. If playing as merc or bounty hunter, I would like to hsave unlimited options for customizing.
I would not be against playing a main character that is onboard a much larger vessel doing whatever assignment/mission. The main ship, can house the ship the main character uses. It would be like a Command center. You interact with others listening to what they encountered during whatever missions they were on. The little ship you use, there would be the option to customize it. During off duty hours, the main character can walk around the Command ship checking out spots to purchase whatever, getting upgrades for the little ship, upgrades for weapons and armor. Even getting alternative outfits for you, the crew and squad. Go to the theatre to watch a movie. Go to the gym to workout. Go to the club to relax. Since this would be military, customizing would be very limited.

We've seen a couple of ship designs (the Mudskipper & the SFX). The Mudskipper is from the MW and I suspect the SFX is from Andromeda. But given how early they are in the process, who knows what we'll end up with in the end. I thought this was an interesting piece of concept art though. Mike teased that it wasn't a mass relay, so perhaps it's a ship (a Mass Runner)? It'd be fun to have our own (trans-galactic?) capital ship.

If you're calling my space hamster an alien then we're going to have a fight on our hands. Is your space hamster an asari, turian or a salarian? No, and he's not a varren, either. Though he might be biotic since he feeds and cleans up after himself. Normal hamsters can't do that. Not that I've seen. I think he just got eezo exposure in the womb.

I think, Sparatus aside, the turians are the only worthwhile military out there. OTOH, if not for the Alliance, the Reapers would have successfully rolled into the Citadel in 2183. If it were up to the Council the Reapers would still be harvesting as we speak.
No, it's best to accept that space hamster is what gave Shepard the push needed to make it through. I don't know about you but I visited my space hamster all the time. That cute little "meep" was very important.

Humanity number zero. I am so ashamed of us.
Pets however? Yes, Meep is a very important crewmember.
I like the idea of a smaller ship for our protag, and one that can be customized to a degree. Are you in it for exploration? Lab that thing out Professor! Want to kill first contact fauna like an imbecile? Build that gunship Boss! Paint it with skulls and rainbows and Blasto.

For a change I would like something less high tech/top of line. A ships that's a bit roughed up and has some milage clocked up already.
I always remember Zaeed's descriptions of the ships he worked on and I've always wanted the protagonist to have a ship like that.
Which leads on to my wish if Shepard ever came back. Take away the Normandy and all the great crew and have him work with smaller resources. But that's another thread.
