He looked very tired/sad during DAI's promo days. I remember one showing off the game he did, that the only time he smiled was when Dorian appeared.
The best for him!

Given how often people seem to assume the worst, it's no wonder they feel they have to emphasis this. No, CHRrOME has a point. Even if an employee leaves because they have differences with the company, they will never publically express these differences. They may not even privately express these differences with the company leadership. I think it's rather telling that so unusually many BioWare employees have jumped ship post-ME3. You mean in the last 4 years? I don't find anything unusual at all about how many employees have left since 2012. In fact, unless there's a lot more we don't even know about (and I'm sure there is), I'd say their turnover is spectacularly low.

BioWare is an entirely new studio to come considering the rapid rate to which the staff you know is being replaced by new guys. But to be fair, both Cameron and Mike Gamble joined in during the EA days and now they're leaving again. I think it's more common practice in the EA biz for people to jump in and out of these bigger companies as milestones in their career, and in Cameron's case he openly says it's because he's on leave due to getting a child and he has a new gig in a bigger town already. I never considered him core staff despite having a lot of prominence throughout the DA:I days, but still, sad to see people we know leave the studio. I must have missed the news Mike Gamble was leaving, when did that happen? I wonder if Cameron is going to join another EA studio or if he is leaving the company altogether.

Back during Dragon Age Inquisition development, Cameron almost had to leave BioWare too because he wasn't sure if he could renew is working permit (he is Australian if I remember correctly). Canadian immigration law limit to 4 years consecutive years how long you can work here (well there, but I'm Canadian so).

Before this thread descends into full "EVERYBODY PANIC OMG THE COMPANY IS DYING" mode, it should be noted that he himself has at least said that it's due to him and his wife wanting to move to a bigger city to raise their kid that she's pregnant with. Predictably, this was pretty much ignored. I can totally appreciate the desire to move elsewhere. I read that he's Australian. Consider that he's now going to be a father, and that he's living in Edmonton. He may feel differently, but that would be like exile to the frozen north, for me. Edmonton looks like a nice city, but it's still the frozen north. I'd not want to work there for years on end, and I'd not want to raise a family there, being from a different part of the world. Maybe this weighed into his decision, maybe not. (No offense intended to our Edmontonians. Again, your city looks very nice. It's just too damn cold for many of us southerners, which means nearly everyone.) Even if the decision was more a professional one than he is saying, good for him. Only an unprofessional idiot tears down their long time employer and coworkers, burning bridges in the process, as he or she heads out the door. It sounds like he's staying in the industry, based upon his cryptic, "stay tuned" message. I wish him the best with all the upcoming life-changes.

Damn, Bio are losing people so fast... When you got a lot of employees then there will always be turnovers as people are comming and going.

BioWare has something like 800 employees. A 'healthy' staff turnover is around 160/year (15%).
Unless people have evidence that turnover is wildly above that, it is not possible to extrapolate an assessment of corporate health on the basis of occasional individual departures, even senior ones.
To do so without supplemental evidence is illogical 'tin foil hat' thinking.

It wouldn't be surprising if these guys were hired contractors or something, but permanent staff? BioWare is certainly experiencing braindrain, wonder how that's going to impact quality.

It's only brain-drain if they aren't hiring equal or greater talents. Despite frequently trashing them as fools and idiots, our community also tends to put the BioWare staff on pedestals, as if they are supremely and uniquely qualified to make these RPGs. They seem to believe that every individual that leaves is an irretrievable production loss. That just isn't the case. Remember, these are the people that have been giving us outdated character creators and other such lovelies for years, despite our vociferous begging. A little new blood rarely hurts, and stagnation rarely helps. As SofaJockey pointed out upthread, their turnover isn't statistically out of the ordinary or unhealthy. It's our fixation on it that makes it seem as such.

A little new blood rarely hurts, and stagnation rarely helps. As SofaJockey pointed out upthread, their turnover isn't statistically out of the ordinary or unhealthy. It's our fixation on it that makes it seem as such. All true about hate\admiration and worshiping "old gods", however there is a bit more to it. Sure, when BW started it was a small indie company making very special niche RPGs (when I was very young I could not understand the fun of scripted dialogs in BG in comparison to huge fun and control over your personal party you could create in IWD, for example). In a small company every single person is important - BW would not even exist or would dye instantly without Doctors, right? Later, when the company became really big, and they got more people, and we, players, were unable to put a "face to the work" anymore, there still were big names that could at least give an illusion that the general direction of the development of their games remains the same. And now that names a leaving. They tried to "outsource" their books before, for example. Remember "Deception"? That is what happen when you treat your creative staff as "workers for hire". If you replace a brilliant coder with a mediocre one, you will need twice more time for production and at the end can get an "outdated character creator" at worst. But if you take a brilliant writer and replace him with a mediocre one, you will kill the game, where writing is everything - aka BW games. No, Cameron was not a writer, I know that. But he (and others who left) was from that creative staff. Sure there are more creative people out there. And new ideas are good. But to me they are good only if they improve what we have, when the base remains the same. Would it be the case? Time will tell. So far I am skeptical.

I can't really compare, but I've read stories of Canadians crossing the border because of overly long waiting times and subpar options for care. It was from reputable, unbiased news outlets, so I doubt it was "news with an agenda". It was old news, though, from years ago. I'm thankful I have good coverage, at present. (Life can always surprise you.) With my health issues, I'd be in trouble (and excruciating pain) pretty quickly without my assorted health issues being actively managed. Too many people don't get the treatment they need and deserve.

Man, I'm glad I live in Denmark. I got intrigued by a BBC article about Danish culture and started reading up on Denmark, a bit. It sounded like a very pleasant place to live; imperfect like all places, but very pleasant. My unusual health situation would make life difficult virtually anywhere other than a few cities in the US, until healthcare catches up with me. (I have to be near doctors who understand my genetic connective tissue condition, and they are very few at present.) If that weren't the case, though, there are so many places I'd love to visit. I definitely wouldn't be living in the city in which I currently live, if I were totally free to choose. Always in the back of my mind are the millions of people who live with conditions like mine, or similarly unpleasant ones, and have no access to health care. It keeps things in perspective. More countries than not have no infrastructure whatsoever, in terms of helping the sick. It makes for an impossibly difficult life.

I definitely wouldn't be living in the city in which I currently live, if I were totally free to choose. I consider Denmark to be a very pleasent place to live: we got things such as free education, free healthcare and a culture as well as system that is more accomendating towards people with difficulties including by providing support so they can achieve a good life. Well, at least, in my opinion as an autistic person living here.
It's a rather frightening thought to think sometimes because I know I'd be unlikely to have made it elsewhere and there is the possibility that I might have committed suicide (for reasons more or less unrelated to my autism) because I'd have considered myself to be too big a burden on my family. It basically comes from this anxiety I've always had of feeling like I have to justify my own existence. This also caused me to become a perfectionist when it comes to certain things and makes me percieve every normal fault as a personal failure.
It's not a perfect country but I consider it to be pretty good and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Also, our food is absolutely delicious. It might be an expensive place to live but given what the money goes to, I'm fine with high taxes.
I'm sorry to hear about your condition. Medical science marches onward so maybe one day?

Two things I recall about Cameron's time on Dragon Age Inquisition with real pleasure. - How rubbish he was in gameplay demos, particularly against Bears.
- A masterful handling (diplomatic but resolute) responding to a Russian media interviewer asking for a 'gay toggle' to remove all gay content.

Any link to that one? Do not remember that interview. The Russian media outlet deleted the interview video a few hours after publication. The gist of the conversation was: Interviewer: Can you toggle off the gay content, we don't like that in Russia. Cameron: People have choices to play different races, classes and orientations so people elect to play their way. The look on Cameron's face was priceless, he was very polite but it was clear the interview would be short, and it was.
