Cameron Lee, who worked as a producer on Dragon Age: Inquisition, is leaving BioWare. Prior to him leaving, Lee was working as the lead producer on BioWare’s first new IP since Mass Effect. His reasons for leaving the studio are personal and have nothing to do with the game’s development. According to him, the game is still on track and will, ‘change the way people experience BioWare games.’Does not affect MEA but does affect BW in general. P.S. Should not it be some kind of "General BW news" sub-forum? Not about the games, but the company?

Sure thing. And should he be the only one - no one would say a word (other than "Happy for him" and "Good luck"). But he is not the only one leaving. And within such a short timeline too.... Not to mention, all who left so far were telling right away - "we are going to work in some other company" (sometimes almost indi and doubtfully with bigger pay-check). Here, from Lee himself: "While I can’t discuss what I’ll be working on next, it’s fair to say that creating massive, AAA games is still what gets me excited to go into the studio every day so stay tuned for more on that in the next month or so.” Would not go as far as to talk about "sinking ship" but it does look more and more like an employee turnover typical for big corporation, where individual skill is nothing and anyone is just a "worker for hire" - Ok politics for idn running a superstore but questionable in case of art (as I would call games).

The earliest we will hear anything more about this secret IP is 2-3 months after the launch of ME:A. So, "if everything goes according to plan" I'm looking at late 2018 or 2019 time frame.

While turnover for large companies is normal it does seem to be skewed toward the 'old guard' moving on...which could be good or bad.

Good luck to Cameron. New experiences are the way to go to grow up professionally and also personally. On the other hand new people will join BW with new ideas, stories and ambitions. It's all good, it's all natural. As long as the new guys care for BW and their games then I shall have a positive mindset.

BioWare is an entirely new studio to come considering the rapid rate to which the staff you know is being replaced by new guys. But to be fair, both Cameron and Mike Gamble joined in during the EA days and now they're leaving again. I think it's more common practice in the EA biz for people to jump in and out of these bigger companies as milestones in their career, and in Cameron's case he openly says it's because he's on leave due to getting a child and he has a new gig in a bigger town already. I never considered him core staff despite having a lot of prominence throughout the DA:I days, but still, sad to see people we know leave the studio.

Even if an employee leaves because they have differences with the company, they will never publically express these differences. They may not even privately express these differences with the company leadership. I think it's rather telling that so unusually many BioWare employees have jumped ship post-ME3.
