Aside from the narrative concerns, one big thing I hope doesn't happen for Next ME is a continued use of the Andromeda multiplayer design. The system in ME3 wasn't broken but BioWare somehow decided that they needed to break that element of the game too.
The God-awful bunny hop jetpack design needs to be thrown out the airlock first of all. ME3MP might have been a bit slower paced but at least a Krogan felt like a Krogan. Backhanding a husk across the map was satisfying, and the headbutt party afterwards with your squad was perfect. Meanwhile, in Andromeda, the Krogan had the same weight and impact as every other kit as they hopped around the map like an idiot. Likewise, the Asari, who in ME3MP were unique in their fluidity of motion and dodge methods lost all of it in favor of a generic jetpack.
Bring back the melee combo system from ME3MP too. We went from a fun mechanic of light and heavy attacks (all of which were unique to each species) to a boring binary system of a limp-wristed light attack, which was the same whether you were a Krogan or a Slarian, to a super slow heavy attack that just served to lock you in place for the duration of it's animation.
Oh and whoever decided that the unlock pool needed to be bloated with twelve different variants of the same gun, as well as having human common kits separated by gender (further inflating the unlock system) needs to be fired and blacklisted from ever working in the games industry ever again.

My main fear at this point is that Bioware hasn't hired better writers both from a narrative and character standpoint. With Mike Gamble being in charge, I'm concerned the game will continue to push the idea that "synthesis" between organics and AI is inevitable or else there will inevitably be apocalyptic conflict. Brrrrrr, I hate this transhumanism stuff and all it's implications. If they're pushing that I'm jumping ship. Not a fan of such bodyhorror. But Synthesis is AWESOME!!! They literally made it so there was no "bad" version! In fact, it's the Final Evolution of Life! The Starchild told us so it must be true!

Nah, I'm not trusting Starbrat any further than I can throw him. 😝 If the devs' intention was to make him trustworthy, they really screwed up. Somebody make these people play SOMA!

I remember on my first playthrough I accidentally picked Synthesis. I was already annoyed at the choices presented, then I managed to pick the least palatable of them all! I then witnessed the horror unfold as Shepard unilaterally DNA-raped the galaxy.

Oh and whoever decided that the unlock pool needed to be bloated with twelve different variants of the same gun, as well as having human common kits separated by gender (further inflating the unlock system) needs to be fired and blacklisted from ever working in the games industry ever again. Agreed. MEA multiplayer was as atrocious as the story. Gone were the days from ME3 when you had a massive number of alien design and gameplay styles, from the speedy glass cannon drell with their judo dodges and melees to the lumbering krogan warlord and geth juggernaut that couldn’t even use the traditional cover system their gameplay design was so different. Instead, everything in MEA was a reskinned human with the boring ass jet boots. Absolutely no gameplay variety to speak of. Enemy factions were either bland and dull reskins of each other (outlaws, kett) or incredibly boring and unsatisfying to fight damage sponges (remnant bots). After the constant nerfs to everything in it that was remotely fun (like melee builds) there ended up being 1 gun in the game worth using (PAW) when ME3 had dozens of viable ones depending on your class and build. The map design was incredibly cramped and atrocious. Just adding vertical platforms to a tiny arena because “jetpacks” isn’t the same as creating proper lanes to control and spawns that make sense. MEA is just a braindead spamfest where as soon as you kill an Ahdi or whatever, it respawns around the corner 5m away and mindlessly rushes at you again to be mown down. Makes objectives like hacks that they can interrupt absolutely tedious. Bloating the unlock pool even further was another shameless attempt at a microtransaction cash grab. Why can’t siphon or whatever just be a mod instead of an entirely “different” gun to unlock with the same handling characteristics and stats (but now it has vampire powers?????????)? Because you want me to spend real money buy those crates right? Right.

Everyone will save on their power bill with the green glow crap helping see when it's dark. No need to have lights. Being the final evolution of all life, no need to worry about what you will eventually evolve to. You already know. How cool is that? There's even the possibility everyone will be saying "I should go" hahahahahahahaha. And the best part is it's what dumb dumb wanted. It did say it's the ideal solution.

Mass Effect 5: The Clone Wars
basically the Alliance took Shepard's DNA and has a whole special army of male and female clones of them. In the distant future, only the top Alliance officials know of these cloned soldiers true identities, and they they are by far the most dangerous soldiers imaginable. And one day, one of these soldiers bumps into the Shadow Broker...and after a little mind meld with a certain Asari, they find out the truth....

My 'fear' for Next ME is that I just don't care about the original Milky Way species and politics anymore. All the main stories were already told and resolved in the original trilogy. Genophage . . . done, Quarian/Geth . . . done, Asari history . . . done.
The different species are all cool but there aren't any big issues or mysteries surrounding them anymore.
The best thing about the MET was the world building, meeting all these strange aliens, learning about galactic organization and where humanity fit into it. Its certainly possible to write some good Milky Way stories but the newness and sense of discovery are forever gone.
This is where Bioware dropped the ball with MEA. They had a golden opportunity to fully reboot Mass Effect. There should have been just a single Human ark travelling to Andromeda. The game should have been about discovering a dozen new species, learning what their new political situation was, and making decisions about how our human colonists would fit in. There was ZERO point to bringing Krogan, Asari, Turian, and Salarians to Andromeda. Their racial and political differences were meaningless outside of the Milky Way. All they did was prevent us from having new alien species to interact with (since there was a hard technical limit to how many different aliens they could have in the game).

Fear 1. Return to no control over squad powers, no power wheel, no tactical pause. Fear 2. The continued Dragon Age-ification of the Mass Effect franchise. Fear 3. Andromeda/Dragon Age dialogue wheel. Fear 4. ME1 meets corridor combat with movie night levels of care bear love and hugs. Fear 5. Andromeda had no Speech checks. Not one. Fucking Zero. Fear 6. Email that can only be read if you leave the planet. Fear 6. Main character is a bitch. Someone threw a bottle at Keri T'vessa and chased her into her apartment and at no point was I ever offered the the opportunity to blow his woman hating head off for messing with my girl. Everyone who messed with Garrus Tali Liara or the VS wound up dead. No questions asked, Collectors, Cerberus, Half a million Geth, three of the galaxies biggest merc groups. Shepards like hey Vakarian lets go shoot that guy who betrayed you, Hey Tali lets go genocide the toasters, Liara wanna be a shadow broker? Where did that attitude go exactly? Bring it back for the love of niftu.
