If after all these trailers with his voice Varric gets the Jenkins treatment and dies in the first mission, I have to admit I’d laugh and find it worth it.

They could be planning of doing that with Evka and Antoine. There was a focus on Evka and then they brought out the story of their romance. So either they are planning on killing Antoine off to leave a heartbroken Evka to try and heal or they have some other agenda. By using an established heterosexual/bisexual couple they would have scope to cater for every permutation in the polyamorous relationship that wouldn't be possible with Charter and Tessa. Now I'm not suggesting they should do this, just thinking about the ways they might manage it so no one complains they feel left out.

They can tell a good story with out proper story continuation. ME have a proper story continuation and fans complaining about that too and call it not a good story.

While that would put a smile on my face, I rather they give the dwarf the Emily Wong treatment, death via twitter.

Besides all the justified hate Teagan gets as a character its first and foremost bad writing by someone who had no idea what Teagan had been before as a character. But to be honest i don´t care. Teagan is forever ruined as a character for me. I really wish that Arl Teagan unlike Varric (who shouldn´t be in Dreadwolf as a major character but DA 5 or even in DA 6 in a small cameo role why not?) will never returning in this franchise in any form. Varric on the other hand just need a longer break but Bioware have clearly other plans and need him and his deathscene for the important  emotional gut punch.

Varric hasn't worn out his welcome yet in my eyes but stealing the Viscount's job from Hawke was annoying.

What?!? Nobody wanted this job. This also include Hawke. But be fair not even Varric but hey someone had to do it.

Hawke didn’t step down from being Viscount. The Red Templars essentially run you out of the city.

I don't recall that detail at the end of DA2 or in DAI. Surely, you are thinking of the abandoned Exalted March DLC. If you support the mages then the reason for your departure is obvious as it is still essentially a city controlled by Templars and you fought against them. If you supported the Templars, they elect you Viscount, so it is less clear why you should do this, since they acknowledge that Meredith was wrong to attempt to arrest/kill you. However, given the time gap to the year of DAI, which is when Cassandra is questioning Varric, I assumed that Hawke's departure was connected with their quest to discover what was happening with the Wardens. The codex entry for the Champion of Kirkwall would seem to confirm this:
Although Hawke is the current viscount of the city, he/she left Kirkwall some time ago, leaving the running of the city to the guard-captain and the seneschal.

There is absolutely no mention of being driven out by the Red Templars and it would seem that Averline and Bran were running things in their absence, so hardly a place infested with Red Templars.
