I picked up the game yesterday, and after waiting 3 hours for the download, I figured I'd quickly create my character before I went to bed. It took me an hour. And I didn't even notice the time going by  Welcome to the end of your free time as you know it. I have two characters both are 30 hours in and still in act 1. This game will eat up all of your time if you're not careful. |

So I've noticed something during my chronic state of restartitis. Lae'zel never actually gives you her name. Not in the intro or when recruited afterwards. I seem to remember her saying it when you recruit her, even being a bit surprised by the pronunciation. I see what it is. If your party is full and you tell her to go to camp she never actually introduces herself. If you send somebody to camp and then talk to her again she will introduce herself and have a little back and forth with Shadowheart if she is grouped as well.

One thing I hope can get improved in the upcoming patches is companion management. There are a few inconveniences and bugs with it, nothing horrible but it can get tedious. - Would be nice to be able to view/manage inventory, check approval, and level up all companions when I'm at camp, not just the ones in my party - Swap in/out party members without needing to talk to them individually. I do kind of like hearing their dialogues for that but you could still have that play when you select/deselect on a screen like in DAO. - The hide helmet setting for companions currently resets when they are swapped out of the party Yeah, the tedium of swapping companions and managing everyone's inventories is probably my biggest mechanical problem with the game. Please just let me see what everyone has in their packs while we're in camp, Larian, rather than trying to make me remember which person I foisted all my junk onto five hours ago when Tav got incumbered. And don't get me started on the necessity of popping back to camp and going into two different conversation interfaces every time I want to switch somebody out. It really shows that in the planning stages we were meant to be locked to just three companions from Act II onwards. While Act 1 went from rough to really nice - not perfectly polished but worthy of the 9-10/10s - its pretty clear by now that Act 2 and very especially Act 3 did not quite get that love, and that doesn't just include 'cut content', but also the broad design, including what happens with the player experience when you raise the companion number from a few (4-5 max?) to 9-10. The game needs it further patches and 'Definitive Edition' at minimum, if only to give everything the Act 1 treatment in full. Still enjoyable, but I'm sure the devs themselves are among the most sensitive to these player issues and the game just had to finally ship.

Welcome to the end of your free time as you know it. I have two characters both are 30 hours in and still in act 1. This game will eat up all of your time if you're not careful. I can agree. 98 hours in three weeks... 20-30something hours... But its split between: cleric attempt, wizard attempt, and now more seriously a sorcerer playthrough. And a splitscreen coop game (Paladin + Warlock, I'm the former). At least its gotten me more comfortable a the starting content than I'd otherwise be, ha.

Super happy to confirm that after meeting @xboxp3 yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time.
All improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen coop, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.

Looks like Swen saw/heard Phil Spencer interview on IGN channel at Gamescom! Phil got directly asked a question about feature parity and split screen coop on xbox systems.

So I've finally decided and am sticking to this character. I restarted my custom to roll as the Dark Urge. Heard it gets alot more content for your character to really integrate them into the plot.
I've also decided on going Eldritch Knight. I've gotten it modded up to play very close to a Sword Saint from pathfinder. Some mods for the blade cantrips, as well as one that offers a selectable feat to enable cantrips as a bonus action. That way it lets you get the War Magic feel, but also take advantage of leveling up fighter more for the bonus attacks.

Interesting great to see some positive views on the game from established developers. I agree with Josh Sawyer I am not a fan of the camera in this game, but I got used to it. NWN1 had a camera feature that it would follow the character and turn automatically when we turn. I also preferred WASD control. But these minor gripes do not detract from the game it is still my GOTY.

" 'Small' developer strong-arms worlds second largest console manufacturer" is not a vibe I expected from this period in time, yet here we are. I don't actually believe they strong-armed them in to anything, but it is nice to imagine. And it must be gratifying for Larian to see a rule like this get bent for their game.

The patch is installed on GeForce Now so I'll be able to play once I'm off work. Some people on GFN are saying it is fixing Act 3 stuttering issues for them but not sure if that is specific to GFN. I haven't made it that far yet though (although approaching the end of Act 2 I think).

Damn...thats a big patch list lol. Though looks like patch 2 will be the one focused more on performance. Patch 1: Fixes Patch 2: Performance and smaller requests Patches beyond that is 'whatever we can fit in this year'/fix for consoles, before holiday and using 2025 to go all the way. IMO.

The Larian launcher still makes my game freeze at 100% loaded every time and I have no idea what that's about. Fortunately the other DX11.exe works fine. Otherwise I'd be royally fucked.
After I finish my first playthrough I'll switch to Starfield and then probably wait for the game to be fully patched and polished until I replay. Aside from the Halsin bug that fixes itself in act2 I haven't come across any major bugs that I noticed.

are you using mods by any chance? Nope. I know that with mods, or without them there is the modsettings.lsx file that needs certain parameter to be there, if it's missing it can cause infinite loading screen whe opening the game you can open the spoiler don't worry, it's the parameter <node id="ModuleShortDesc"> <attribute id="Folder" value="GustavDev" type="LSString" /> <attribute id="MD5" value="60f6ce76d2bf1b0e4cb8b7fe373df898" type="LSString" /> <attribute id="Name" value="GustavDev" type="LSString" /> <attribute id="UUID" value="28ac9ce2-2aba-8cda-b3b5-6e922f71b6b8" type="FixedString" /> <attribute id="Version64" value="144255925567876650" type="int64" /> </node> besides that, i don't remember any instance that could cause the inifinte loading screen bug. also in case you wanna take a look it's on C:\Users\yourUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public but if you have never used mods i doubt you have that file. hopefully it helps, but i doubt so just in case, apologies i couldn't help more, also i usually play on vulkan, it's better than DX11

She's currently about...halfway through Act 1? I've at least recruited all of the Act 1 companions
