I made a githyanki, I really like. She is a mage and I think, I keep her for a later playthrough.

Ok, I think, my next playthrough is a DUrge - I made this lady here:
She is a Seldarine Drow storm sorceress/tempest cleric (she found Oghma on the road - will be a surprise later on, when she learns her heritage)

No, sorry, it's not an invented scandal. I looked into it and saw the trend before it became "a trend". Yeah, there was that one indie studio guy, fine (although I don't even agree with his assertions). The rest were AAA devs, not only that, but Evolve PR which handles review codes and media outreach for most game studios was putting out statements about how it's unfair to expect BG3's quality from other games, coupled with some really blatant lies (like claiming Dungeons & Dragons paid for development–no they didn't, in fact you have to pay WotC for the license–and that anything D&D branded is a guaranteed success–okay, tell that to the A-list actor and writer D&D film that just flopped). N.b. I'm a journalist myself who's worked with Evolve lol. It's all corporate culture gaslighting, as usual. We the players are just uneducated rubes who don't know anything. This has been frankly going on for at least a decade, going all the way back to the ME3 scandal where the entire industry just kept saying how fans are just spoiled whiny babies who should just shut up and accept whatever Studios deign to give us and just be grateful. Now obviously yes there's the occasional moron who's a psychopath that sends death threats to developers, but that does not justify in my mind this decades long Elitist attitude most of these companies, including the so called media, seem to cling to.

BG3 is already a cult classic. I was over on the Starfield Reddit and someone showed they named their character Tav because they suck at naming characters. The result was people posting one liners from BG3 like " these boots have seen everything", " I have a lot on my mind...and well in it", etc in the comment section.

I mean BG3 is the best game I played since BG1&2 and Vampire Bloodlines. I just love it so much. And the music is just so great - without spoilers I had a boss singing their own theme song, doesn't get better than that.

One of the most epic moments in my gaming exparience. Just perfection! It was great and I had to stop, because I laughed so hard. It was so fitting for that character. I'm nearing the end I think and probably will play my Durge next. She is the first drow, I've made and played more than just tutorial. I know, drow are the favourite race, but because they are so overused, I'm bored by them. But I like her and she will be a resisting Durge and after that I play my githyanki mage or a deep gnome rogue probably. I love the game.

I have a question for those who play with mods. Two days ago on nexus there was a mod that gave a notification when a companion wanted to speak at camp. For some reason I did not download it and now it's not on nexus anymore. Did anyone here by chance download the mod and if so can they DM me a copy?

I'm still in Act 1, pretty far along, squeezing every bit of possible content out of it. I am so impressed by how the devs seem to have accounted for darn near everything the player could consider doing. I'm not sure I've tried anything, yet, that wasn't accounted for by design. It's pretty amazing.

I finished yesterday and really liked it. There are some heart gripping moments in the end for sure.

Noticed a strange bug today. Was my first time playing since the last hotfix/patch and noticed some weird animation glitches. When walking or running my characters right leg is very twitchy and then if I stand still it begins to really shake and then the character gets stuck in a rough animation idle loop. Might wait till the next patch to see if it gets fixed cause it's quite distracting lol

I went to see the Stone Lord without Jaheira.
And eh, he's dead now. Jaheira is taking it surprisingly well.

This patch finally fixed my default exe being bugged! No longer freezes at 100% loaded. I've had this issue for a veeeery long time. I can finally take screenshots again!
It also seems to have fixed various armor glitches. And the magic mirror is an awesome addition.

I take back that the new patch is awesome. They messed up inventory. Now every time I dismiss a character I get all their supply bags and keychains and alchemy pouches now flagged as quest items so that I'm immediately super over encumbered and can barely walk. This SUCKS. I hope this is just a bug because it's fucking awful. As if inventory management wasn't bad enough before...
Only solution is to send everything to camp storage. But you gotta do this repeatedly after every dismissed companion. I hope this gets a hotfix asap.

I so seldom use the potions (healing aside), elixirs, arrows, oils etc, that my Tav is constantly loaded down. The problem is, most of these things are so abundant you’re constantly picking them up. Maybe the correct option is to use them more liberally? That said, it has been a while since I’ve found a new arrow of Roaring Thunder… Either way - inventory is a pain in the arse.

If you haven't got like 500 unused scrolls and potions in your inventory when the credits roll, have you even been playing? And besides, you might need it for that post credit boss who might or might not even exist...That fire cantrip might be the difference between win or game over after all. But figure the game does kinda pile this stuff on you to use it. I recommend giving it a try, if only too feel the pain of having used it two fights before you actually really kinda needed it. But I feel the horror with getting the supply pack when you bench the party mule. Sure I don't need 600 slices of ham, but when my character manages to devour four supply bags in one rest because the split option didn't automatically trigger you kinda need to over stock on the food stuff. And besides who can resist stuffing their pockets with free bread?

I send all my camp supplies to camp, which really helps with inventory weight.
Since this patch, I've discarded all of my companions' camp bags, alchemy bags and keychains. IIRC keys and alchemy ingredients don't weigh much (though admittedly they do add up), so my char usually carries them all anyway. Some of the quest items can weigh a lot though.

After having spent 3 years enviously lurking on the early access thread, I'm finally able to play. Since my lore knowledge consisted of a vague memory of having read two Drizzt Do'Urden books over 20 years ago, I decided to do some research using the Forgotten Realms wiki and here are my two characters:
- My Tav is a half-orc (or more accurately a quarter-orc) noble from Chessenta who had been stationed as a diplomat in Baldur's Gate before her abduction. She's a member of Chessenta's large ruling family, the Karanoks. She's also Chessenta's lauded national athlete for having won a bunch of national female wrestling championships in her twenties.
- My Durge thinks herself to be a dragonborn, but in reality she's a half-dragon from Waterdeep and also my half-orc Tav's mother who disappeared inexplicably four decades ago. I made her guardian look like her (now late) husband and my Tav's father. Hopefully, as an amnesiac, she'll react to him better than my Tav who was beyond skeeved to meet a person who was the spitting image of her old mentor and crush. [In hindsight, I really should have seen this coming when I was creating that guardian.] I gave my Durge human eyes and now she looks a bit like my friend's pet Schneider's skinks.
Using Tav (my Durge is yet to leave the starting chamber), I've played about 2/3 of the 1st act and I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of this game. I checked the controller layout before starting, but until very recently I could not hold torches, check NPCs' lines of sight, or steal anything because I didn't know how to easily access 'hide'. [Hold Dpad Up, press Right Analog, and hold Dpad Down, respectively.] Information overload will do that to you. I also learned how the splitting and grouping my party worked quite late, I was up to my elbows in goblins due to not having thought some things through.
My favourite moments so far include finding a knife in a campfire and my trap-disarming-toolkit-less self trying to fool pressure traps by placing a bunch vases, a frying pan, and a milk churn on them. Just when I had snatched the treasure those traps guarded, cue the sound of breaking china and a room engulfed in flames - minus the area around the churn. Afterwards there was the flying pan sitting tranquilly amongst the red embers.
