Veilguard Gameplay June 11th

I don't know if these guesses regarding the VA's identity are correct, but I loved the voice. It just fits so many character concepts bouncing around in my head.

Hopefully there will be another gameplay video released featuring a female voice for the main character.

FemHawke had such a painful looking run animation. Inquisition female elf had a similar kind but less hip wigly but I remember not really liking that either.

Just watched the gameplay again. Why are the characters hopping around like they're grasshoppers? I saw Neve jumping around then attacking point blank. So a mage can do that now? What's the point of being a mage if you're going to be up-close-and-personal with the baddie? They would all do well at the summer Olympics in the standing/running long jump. Did Bioware make each class a hybrid?

The other thing is the ability wheel isn't unlocked this early in the game. Does the player have to reach a certain level or have enough points to use it?

This interview has a ton of info about skill progression for both Rook and the companions. Between this, the Shinobi comments, and the video, I feel like I understand where the combat is headed.

There is a lot of jumping around. I usually expect ally AI to suck in these demos. We can hope it's better in game. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

A close quarters Mage is the gameplay option I most want. I'm not talking about the Knight Enchanter swinging a sword, though I did play that. I'd love something like the priming and damaging aura of Annihilation in MEA. Even without aura powers, I'd like to be able to get right into the thick of enemies and blow them up with magic. Shinobi's comments give me more hope, as I saw he mentions close quarters Mages. Time will tell.

While I agree the KE is close quarter, it doesn't explain why a mage would jump around in combat. It would have been nice if there was commentary from Bioware about that.

I'm curious why the game went from 3 to 2 companions, and they're not playable. It removes features I liked from the previous games. Is it because Bioware wanted the game to be streamlined. Maybe want the actiony type combat. I also would guess I can't do a solo playthrough without the companions. That's another feature I like especially since I just finished 3 DAI playthrough's solo as a mage, archer and sword/shield warrior.

You know, if magic is more like biotics now I could see this being really fun. ME3 combat was lightning in a bottle for me. I never had so much fun in my life and the MP was so addictive and that's just 3 powers, period. And yet you could do all kinds of play styles with it. The N7 Fury was so much fun, yes. (MEA was inferior to me, hot take.) I loved playing vanguard too, just prime a target and then charge right at them for the orgasmic biotic boom. Ah, good times...

So I should be delighted at this change personally. But I feel like I'm going be even more disappointed when it's not like ME3(MP) at all and just super boring. I feel like that game's combat was just unique and cannot be replicated. Sometimes devs don't know why something was so popular and they can't do it again.

Happened overnight, I believe this is last milestone Gameplay reveal can hit in a short term.
Next ME video has 3.6 million views, so yeah I believe I'll stop tracking views so regularly now.
