Yeah the frustrating thing for me is I just don't know what to make of this because A. Played plenty of open world games with really great stories...but then it comes down to a tension of B. I don't know if I'm right in terms of how the industry views such things, thus DAI is most definitley not an Open World game because its not one single world, or if I am C. wrong because Open World games can count games that have more then one 'world' in them. I wouldn't call DAI an open world game at all, at least not in the true sense of the word. DAI consists of multiple large but mostly disconnected regions in a similar way to DAO and DA 2 and uses the term open world more to lure open world players in. Sure, some areas were large, even annoyingly so, but largely felt lifeless and static. In a true open world game the world itself feels alive, examples of this are TES and Witcher 3. That is simply not something BioWare has experience with, their focus has always been on the characters and the story. Anyway, a couple more things I hate: The glowing magic store signs in Minrathous. Sorry, but no ... just no, this isn't Cyberpunk. It just doesn't fit
Group size reduction and lack of tactics mode/overhead view
Most likely lack of mod support/modding tools And for the sake of the Maker and Andraste... redo the demons and darkspawn, they look utterly ridiculous and not menacing at all. You still have few months left, reworking the models to look closer to their established look should be possible. It kind of does mak esense t om ebecause Tevinter aer moer open abou tho wthe yus emagic than we did in the south. Granted it doeslook a bit Cyberpunky yes but I think it works.

It kind of does mak esense t om ebecause Tevinter aer moer open abou tho wthe yus emagic than we did in the south. Granted it doeslook a bit Cyberpunky yes but I think it works. There are other ways to convey Tevinter's more open outlook on magic, in fact the giant floating citadel above would probably have worked for that purpose all on it's own. Personally I find the medieval Cyberpunk city a super cool and creative idea It isn't about "cool and creative", it is about whether it fits the setting or not. Dragon Age has always been a bit more grounded than, for example, the average D&D setting and I feel Veilguard is moving too far away from it's origins. Again, yes, Tevinter is more open about using magic but turning Minrathous into basically a fantasy version of Night City (Cyberpunk 2077) just feels wrong.

Love 1. Baby Griffon 2. Rook 3. Solas isn't the big bad (or is he) 4. Focus on Companions 5. Tevinter
Hate 1. Varric... wish they let him retire in Kirkwall 2. The glimpses of the story in the gameplay reveal 3. The combat design 4. Every companion is a romance option 5. Art direction

I don't know whose idea was to imitate ME/GOW, but I don't find it appealing. I agree with that, the new party and combat systems are a horrible decision. Even Inquisition had better combat and combat in Inquisition wasn't great. But BioWare wants to appeal to the Assassin's Creed/God of War/action game crowd rather than the RPG players with that kind of gameplay, which was also the reason for that horrible reveal trailer. I'd have prefered either turn-based combat (which BG 3 proved is very viable for sales) or a return to DAO's RTwP combat, but alas we're stuck with action game combat.

I don't see Bioware doing turn-based combat ever. Not under EA and not with the team they have.
2. RTWP combat doesn't sell that good. Maybe Greedfall 2 can show other wise, but to this day RTWP isn't that popular.
So the only choice they could make was action or a mix like DAI. They could also do a new game, but they have so much lore here it would be sad.
I am very happy for the no die option. So i can have fun. I don't need combat that is anything more than decor.

I personally like the design, all sharp lines and neon, high-rises and dark alleys, the presence of magic everywhere, lush but not comfortable, as oppressive as it is impressive. It's supposed to be a city like we've never seen before, and I think they nailed it. So long as it's not the whole game and DA moving forward. Granted, time's passed but I personally don't love the whole steampunk, cyber-fantasy aesthetic. Especially not for Dragon Age. It did have me worried for like a second, more so with the companions trailer (which was off-tone) than the gameplay reveal (which was awesome).

I am very happy for the no die option. So i can have fun. I don't need combat that is anything more than decor. DAI combat would have still been preferable to full on action combat. Sorry, but I'm just not a fan of that kind of combat gameplay and considering how much combat we'll likely have that is bad. Yes, having the "no die" option is good and will make the combat somewhat bearable, but it certainly won't make combat more enjoyable. And if previous Dragon Age games are anything to go by, there will be a lot of combat.

Yeah, it'll be a slog to get through. One can only hope that what's 'in between' all this jumping around is worth the time & efforts.

I'd hope for more natural movements and less obvious jumps but it's honestly kind of ingenious to work in jumping mechanics into ARPG combos. Don't think I've seen that too much.

Thing i hate
- I haven't seen PC (mouse & keyboard) UI yet
i'm refusing to believe M&K interface will have only 3 ability slots
i also read we can keybind companion's abilities so they should be showed too. I'm thinking of ME3 UI

You can pick just 1 if you want, and then all passives. Besides this, you can switch between profiles and each profile can have 3 different abilities. I don't think we will have profiles in Veilguard
