Mage combat looks boring. What else can it be with only 3 abilities. Really the number of abilities is quite superfilious. THis looks way better then Inquisition's mages given the mobility options involved. Better then just standing in place doing pew pews. I mean compared to previous games, the Mage combat looks excellent. The movement, the rapid cycling of spells is what's making really love it. Personally, I felt the mage gameplay in Inquisition was pretty boring where you stand in one place just shooting spells and occasionally casting barrier lol. Veilguard's Mage gameplay looks more involved.

All the combat looks way more involved and its just like...yes abilities are fine and all..but they aren't the only thing that one does during combat and the totality of everything we can do and how we can do it seems far more varied then Inquisition. More or less anyways. Like each class has mobility now. Each class has ranged and melee options now.

It was the most fun I've ever had ever playing a mage in Inquisition, including my first time as KE before the Spirit Blade nerf. I cannot wait to play a Mage in Veilguard.

Yeah her showing up is really badass. Corypheus may have been imposing but just like that Orb, he got all his magic - including the Blight apparently - from elves, and by extension the Evanuris. If anything, he's plagiarizing Ghilan'nain.
I saw that one dragon had a unique name, so I'm hoping it will have a codex entry to go with it.

It feels like no matter how many tricks Bioware pulls out of the hat, some people have already made up their minds—they don’t like what they see. These are the ones who will find a single pixel to complain about, arguing the company didn’t color it the way they wanted.

The combat is really good. I am already planning to play mage in my first run.
I also like the more serious and darker tone that was shown here. Like how grey wardens just can't have a break. It's good to see more Taash too.
Not showing HUDs is also a great choice. It makes me appreciate the design of the dragon more.

So her superpower is basically plaigarism? Come to think of it, her schtick in Horror of Hormak was basically “take two things and mash them together to make something new,” so I guess she’s managed to weaponize her lack of creativity. Does this make Ghilly the fantasy equivalent of an AI artist? Truly a formidable foe! Wait...wasn't there a two headed dragon in concept art? Ghil might take the two dragons and smash them together to get a super-dragon who is immune to both fire and cold damage? Yay.

With both that image and the current one the group of the Veilguard is facing away from said Dragon while darkspawn enemies seem to be crowding in on them. Have to wonder if they are protecting the Dragon from the Darkspawn trying to blight them.

Night scenes would benefit from better lighting. That’s very dark. Nice to finally hear from both Taash and Ghilan’nain though. Also it seems like there’s a jump cut part way through? I wonder what they’re hiding there. One of the part cut is Ghily tearing appart a Warden with her 4 arms...so gore. The video was shown during PSN State of Play, so it was censored a bit. We still saw a warden munched by the Icetalon thought. AND she rips someone apart with her bare hands?
Elgar'nan and Fen'harel who? Never heard of them.

Those cinematics are a huge step up from the previous games! I only wish they used the same level of detail for the normal conversations, there is such a huge difference

I'm going to worship our new Queen from...afar. If we can't even manage to put down one dragon correctly, resistance is futile. Also wonder when that happens.

I'd say it's premature to judge Ghilain'nain full power by a short clip like that, but I wouldn't minimize too much the fact that she can create blighted archdemons with far more ease then Corypheus. We can debate whether it could be boring to have another villain with a similar power from Inquisition's main villain, but her abilities even for the little that was shown goes beyond that, and it's still a very dangerous ability.
It's also true that she is, given every information about her from the distorted myths and the actual truth, a creator of monsters, so her abilities are obviously centered more on those, but as we saw even in the short clips, she have additional abilities. I'd also say that the bigger threat of the two is most likely going to be Elgar'nan.
On Solas' power, we don't even know if his petrification abilities are actually his own or if he had them in the past. There's some speculation that his ability derive from the Titans, given Harding's display of a similar ability, so he might have acquired it post-Inquisition...and we don't know, as others said, if it works on the Evanuris.

Odd dragon battle. Where did the HUD go? Can't see any health bars or cooldowns or anything. And luckily someone conveniently constructed a nice big round arena just next to the lair and the dragon kindly goes along with the expectation.
The animations were mostly pretty good (the Wardens rushing into battle were a bit iffy, not leaning forward into their run at all) and I liked the general dramatic direction and camera angles. The voice lines were... eh, what can you do with such a scene. Not nearly as memorable as the visuals.
Sad to see how the Wardens constantly get their rear ends handed to them. That elite blight fighting force must be a thing of the past. But I bet that for some reason Rook is going to need their help anyway.

I do recall they mentioning being able to toggle them off, but I could be wrong. I do agree on the environment for the battle, although I'll judge the dragon battle after seeing it/playing it in full. It was a weird decision to showcase it with those time skips. I get your point about the Wardens...although fighting an elven 'god' isn't exactly what they're trained for, and even in regards of the dragons, killing archdemons isn't a feat *every* Warden can easily do. I do hope the game manages to showcase the Wardens in a more competent way, overall, then Inquisition.

And while Wardens are blight experts that still tends to put them in the same position of the Nights Watch. Qualities will vary.
