What is the crafting material that is the little Orange thing in this screenshot, I need it to upgrade stuff further and have not found any anywhere nor found it at any shop. it is the one on the right that says 0/5 I have yet to recruit Tash or Emmrich yet is it something available after that? i.postimg.cc/gk6Cb7Wx/bandicam-2024-11-11-15-12-46-953.jpg

the little Orange thing in this screenshot 'Vhenadahl's Tears' (resin) Most likely from Rivain and Arlathan. Pops up in same places you find Heartwood. In chests or from powerful darkspawn.

Thanks Have done a lot of stuff in Arlathan and collected a whole lot of Heartwood wonder why I have not seen it, also killed quite a few high level Darkspawn, is it gated till after a certain story point? I have been really slow and thorough all playthrough and hence I have just met Davrin.

Pretty sure you can do it in the workshop. I remember doing it. Is there another method for upgrading the rarity of an item than buying the same item from a faction merchant or finding it in a chest? If so, I haven't been able to find it and I'd like to know how that works. The Caretaker workshop is no merchant.
There are 2 things to upgrade - rarity and level. Rarity is the green/blue/purple/orange color of the item, which increases each time you find/buy another of the same thing, and level is 1-10, which the Caretaker does. You need to max both for the achievement. I lucked out and was able to buy the last thing I needed right before the final battle.

I have been really slow and thorough I too was thorough and could upgrade every faction to full strength and every merchant to full capacity before the 'Point of no return' without any issue. I suspect you'll be just fine by that point.

There will be shops that sell it later on in Act 2 (like merchants in the Fade and one famous dude).

Jumping on this . How do you know what upgrades are needed etc. silly me I’ve been upgrading at lighthouse not realizing it’s taking stuff? Did I snooze a tutorial on this? I’m thinking these vendors are just selling stuff I don’t want to buy. I’m still in act 1 but …

What wisp merchant?! There's a Wisp merchant that sells items. It also gives faction strength to whatever faction you, er, let down, when you sell your items to it (after a certain event). It's on the Crossroads island where spirits hang out in a market.

Thanks for the explanation, SofaJockey!

Yeah for me it was I think when I did Taash's recruitment mission (L20?) yesterday I got a whack of it for the first time.

Hello! I'm playing on PC, and I'm having some trouble with keyboard remapping. I'd like to remap the Ability Wheel to the space bar (since it's the closest thing the game has to pausing, and I've been pausing with the space bar for as long as I've been playing video games). I can remove Tab as the key, but for some reason I can't replace it with space bar. I was able to remap Skip to the Enter key without issue, but for some reason this one just isn't working.

Have you gotten Emmrich yet? I belive the wisps do not turn up untill sometime after that. The caretaker may also turn up outside the door to the music room and comment briefly about them when you run by. However this only happens once, so you may not notice if you're in a hurry.

Space is used for dodging, you may need to rebind that to something else first?

No, I only started a few days ago, so this is my first trip back to the lighthouse with Bellara, Harding, and Neve. Is there anything that important behind the other door if I can't eventually get this to work? I really don't want to replay hours and hours to get around a bug that might happen again anyway.

Pretty sure it's not a bug . It's just the mechanic of using wisps to open stuff is thematically tied to Emmrich, even if he isn't needed for it to work. And behind door number two is… door number three. Joke aside, there are more steps than just the two wisps. It’s been a while since I was there, but behind each door is a bit of Solas/Lighthouse lore and ultimately you find the two chests for 100% the Lighthouse. I think it’s two of the one’s containing Unique items (the pink ones).

At what Act can I 100% The Crossroads map? There's a well signposted 'point of no return'. If you haven't naturally cleared the Crossroads, finished companion quests and opened any chests you want, that's the time to back away from that warning and do them. Clearing the Crossroads involves higher level enemies, so there's honestly no hurry before that point.

What are the different rarity trash (?) items you can buy from vendors and what's the purpose? I don't have a definitive answer. My suspicion is that the only point of items that are not decor, appearances, gifts, caretaker upgrades, gear, is to sell them back to faction vendors for affinity strength. Though because I opened all chests I could find and looked in corners, I was able to get all 6 factions to max 3,200 affinity without doing that.
