Someone else can chime in who's a PC player and knows more than I (I'm on console). Never hurts to have a definitive answer.

This Is In most of the tip videos, but If you bring up the ability wheel In combat there Is a command to make your party atrack your target, like In Inquisition. It really makes combat flow a lot better and helps with bosses as well.

Playing Rogue (on Xbox). I found having the controls for Defend (parry) [LB] over on the left and dodge ( B ) over on the right, problematic when dancing around the battlefield. Swapping the bumpers [LB] [RB] made a huge difference. Also swapped the triggers [LT] [RT] so my bow is on [LT] where it should be.

Does anyone know how hard the puzzles are in Veilguard.
Mortismal's 100% completion review (which I just watched as he's one of the Youtubers I trust to give accurate, unbiased, comprehensive reviews) touched on this saying that certain elements of character development, skills, traits etc. were locked behind some kind of puzzle system.
Has anyone completed one of these (apparently mandatory) puzzles? How difficult are they? Are we talking about solving some really, really nasty, complex Tower of Hanoi or fliptile type stuff, or (even worse) something like Andromeda's 'Space suduko') or are they relatively straightforward?
I ask because I'm one of those people who comprehensively suck at puzzles mostly due to me suffering from Dyscalculia (which makes anything involving sequential logic or pattern recognition very, very difficult to process). Am I going to be playing the game with a Youtube puzzle solver walkthrough permanently open on the other monitor in order to make any headway?

Any good video tips for mouse and keyboard? The last action game I played was HZD back in 2017, on console. I prefer mouse and keyboard, but if push comes to shove, I guess I can look for my old controller. Mainly I am fighting the camera and can't seem to switch to bow properly (I always just end up hip-firing).

Playing on Xbox controller. Rogue bow . Can I aim? If so how Hold for ADS (aim down sights) or tap to hipfire. For SofaJockey, we actually used to have separate buttons for ADS and ranged attack but it was wildly overloading the controller. These RPG games need controllers with at least 2 more buttons (fingers crossed for the next gen)

I chose the custom set up for difficulty to play super easy mode but I didn't see any option of not dying in combat. Where is it?

I chose the custom set up for difficulty to play super easy mode but I didn't see any option of not dying in combat. Where is it? I'd have to double check but I believe you have to specifically be on Storyteller for it to be an option (rather than custom). It definitely is in there somewhere (I'll edit this when I get time to boot back up and find it for you). EDIT TO ADD: Settings -> Gameplay -> under the Combat section it's third down, called Prevent Death.

These RPG games need controllers with at least 2 more buttons (fingers crossed for the next gen) I wonder if having a button on the controller handles, or something approximating the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, is the way forward these days. It's amazing how complex controllers have become over the years.

These RPG games need controllers with at least 2 more buttons (fingers crossed for the next gen) Makes sense. I already swapped the [LT] [RT] triggers on Xbox (and am pleased to have the option to do that). Many games use bow on the left trigger so I'm kind of used to it there. Playing on 'Underdog' is encouraging me to take my time and learn the combat. At times, the combat feels almost Elden Ring (admitting that I am rubbish at Elden Ring and doubtless I'll get beaten up for that remark) but learning the enemies' attacks appears to have a real benefit. (much as Harding discusses in the Vows and Vengeance podcast )

Am I going to be playing the game with a Youtube puzzle solver walkthrough permanently open on the other monitor in order to make any headway? So far, the only puzzles have done are environmental puzzles (find the switch/lever, creating passage/destroy blocking barrier, etc) and I wouldn't considered them very hard or even long. Althought, some stuff are hidden and smashing crates might reveal them, or looking for another way around sometimes too. Fighting the camera? You might want to play with the mouse sensitivity settings (there is one for the mouselook and one for aiming). Not sure about switching to bow, might be the same switch weapon button as Warrior/Mage (I rebinded stuff, but I think it was X originally so I kept it). Otherwise, when I'm using Shield Toss, I have to hold the hip-fire button to aim.

Is companion approval a separate mechanic from bond level and if so, is it visible somewhere?

Is companion approval a separate mechanic from bond level and if so, is it visible somewhere? Yeah, just go to the menu and go to the companions page. You should see their approval level on the left side.

Had some fun with the key bindings. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd write in "shift" instead of an upward-pointing arrow when talking about the Shift key. Some keyboards have arrows on them.
I figured it had to be something on the left side since that binding is preposterous otherwise, but still..

After the last few games, I'm really surprised by the current skill... tree? Mushroom? What the hell am I looking at?
Anyway, if you want options, here they are. But... yikes. This is worse than Pathfinder at first glance.
(That isn't a complaint yet. Just surprise.)
