Can be luck dependant. Regularly check vendors for upgrades. There are a few spirit/wisp vendors In the crossroads that might have some hidden/lost treasure, and they take green crystals Instead of gold. But to the rivain gear, unfortunately a lot of It Is locked behind Taash personal quest with a certain king. Yeah figures that I unlocked the upgrades right after posting my question, lol. Why is decent LoF gear gated behind such a relatively late game quest? By now I have unique gear I'd much rather keep using. I don't even have the transmog version of the squid bow so that I'd least look the part. My treasure hunter now runs around with a wooden flower bow like some filthy tree hugging elf, ugh.

am i the only one who think that unique items are weak?
some of them give intersting changes but they also have a negative side, while legendary items give only buffs
i'm using only the helm that removes rage costs (60s cooldown)...is there a way to lower cooldowns?

The unique items are meant for specific builds (including companion setup sometimes), usually using more than one unique or with specific other gears. Lowering cooldowns for Rook is in a few places, including certain companion's passives on their support skills.

It's how you use them. I managed to accidentally create A duelist build that is extremely op with the ultra bow that shoots three arrows at a time + the item that gives you infinite arrows. I murdered everything once I started using it

So, what are you supposed to do with enemies who block you with shields? Yeah, there was a tooltip way back when, but I didn't understand what it was saying before, and now I've forgotten what it said.

Yeah, there was a tooltip way back when, but I didn't understand what it was saying before, and now I've forgotten what it said. Headshot them with your beam/ranged against humanoids (on basic settings/assists just aim snap and tweak slightly upwards and it there for crits until your mana runs out) , or use charged regular attacks, which is what the tool tip says.

Has anyone figured out what makes regular agile, heavy and charged attacks crit? I sear I've seen it happen but I have no idea how it happens. Wince rogues and mage can become busted ability spam era with their amulets and crit ring, but warriors still struggle, I thought I might look into a warrior who crits on normal attacks.

Charged attacks (hold attack button), try to aim an headshot (or foot shot) or us an ability (high stagger one open them for longer or anything that freeze or knockdown). There is a rune that cause ranged attacks to break it on usage too.

So I took a very quick glance at some of the romances to help me decide who to romance....and I saw in the video I watched that Rook had on this very revealing piece of clothing...looked almost like a bikini. Not unlike something Isabela would wear, or like some of the more revealing armour sets you find in Zero Dawn or Forbidden West
Im wondering where do you find them?
And are they specific to a certain class or faction like Lords of Fortune, Rogues....

Yeah, I thought so because even looking at the starting "Aspirational Armour" for each Faction/Class combination, the LoF seem to have the most exotic pieces. This time around I chose a Shadow Dragon Mage, but I was hoping for armour or clothing that should show off my ink. Guess I'll have to look around for some.

I took a quick sneek-peek at Taash's romance.....and for the very first time ever in the history of the franchise (since Qunari were a playable character/race) I decided to actually see if I could make a jaw droppingly gorgeous Qunari.....ANd I dare say I succeeded. Because I was gunning for the revealing armour set I decided to play as a Female Qunari Mage from the Lords of Fortune (not that that class/faction combination makes sense given the Lore and backstory, but why not?) And this time, this character has eyes only for Taash.
I find I'm having quite a lot of fun trying out the different Faction/Class and Race combinations and seeing what I can come up with. I am very interested in seeing how the story plays out with each character I've created. My first character is an Elf Mage from the Veil Jumpers (you all know about that one...she is romancing Belara), my second is a human female Rogue Duelist from the Antivan Crows (hoping to romance Taash), my third is a Human Female Mage from the Shadow Dragons (planning to romance Harding) and lastly is this new Female Qunari Mage from the Lords Of Fortune (planning to romance only Taash).
Going to see how the game plays out with each character....then decide which one I like best.

Think I need to up my orb & dagger game. I basically, didn’t use it, like at all. Couldn’t get into it. Staff, however, I love what Luke and the team cooked for us. Combat is the best BioWare’s ever done!
Question: if you have an orb/dagger equipped that says, for example “+ mana regen”, does that bonus apply only when you’re using orb and dagger, or also with a staff (at all times, as long as it’s equipped)? 🧐

Question: if you have an orb/dagger equipped that says, for example “+ mana regen”, does that bonus apply only when you’re using orb and dagger, or also with a staff (at all times, as long as it’s equipped)? 🧐 Hi Ice Quin....I will second your comment about the Combat (within the DA Franchise) it's the best combat yet no matter the class. Have not played a Warrior yet...But Im having an absolute blast with both the Mage (I tend to use the Orb/dagger more than the Staff...but both are excellent) and the dual blade wielding Rogue....Both are so much fun! To ansqer your question, I think the bonus is dependent on the weapon you have equipped. If uou have an Orb/Dagger that says Mana + Regen when that is equipped...then that Buff is for that slecific weappn set. Likewise if you have a Staff that says, I dunno.... Stagger -10+ Mana +5 then that Stat buff is for that weapon only....But I might be wrong though. To be honest I dont really look very closely at Weapon Stats. If it's big and it hits hard, Ill use it.🤣

I assumed anything neutral in the descriptions works for Staff and Orb/Dagger, because some nodes actually have either specifically mentioned, so in that case that won't work for the other weapon set. But I'd be curious as well whether that is really true. Hm, can we see the Mana regen rate in Rook's stats? Can't remember right now if that stat was actually a thing, but from what I experienced, seeing the actual bonus addition in the stats only works outside the Lighthouse (since you technically don't have a weapon equipped there). So you could just choose Mana regen node and check your stats for both Staff and Dagger/Orb equipped maybe?

I thought charged attacks might be the thing. But I haven't been great at actually executing them. You really just need to hold down the light or heavy attack buttons. For light-charged, it will release them automatically, too, when fully charged. I habitually go tap-tap-tap-hold for my regular attack loop, shield bearer or no, for that extra punch at the end. But once again - for shielded enemies, really just lazily pointing your ranged beam at them and then roughly aim above the shield is way easier and deals vastly more damage. Plus there is nothing like recoil, so you don't even have to readjust your aim or anything. You just stunlock them and deal crits for days. It's basically how I took down all of the crossroads revenants.

Are S&S Warriors fun to play (aside from the mechanic of being able to throw your shield like Capt. AMERICA)?
I've never played a Warrior class in any of the DA games. Ive only ever played as a Mage going as far back as Origin..what little I played of that. I never got past the Drawven Proving Grounds (Inthink that is what it was called). And I stuck with a Mage in DA II and even in Inquisition.
Veilguard marks the first time Ive played as anything but a Human or Elven Mage. Im starting to branch out and the Duelist Rogue is a ton of fun...And this is also the first time Ive played as a Qunari.
But of all the classes in Veilguard is Warrior fun enough to sustain the whole game?

I thought it was a ton of fun. It did get a bit repetitive for me super late game, however I think that’s more to do with lack of enemy variety. I think I gel with warrior more than rogue, but have only played a bit of rogue for comparison.
In my DA history I’ve only played warrior in DAO (which I found pretty meh), otherwise rogue in DA2 and DAI.

But of all the classes in Veilguard is Warrior fun enough to sustain the whole game? I have played every class extensively in each game (I've got twelve world states, multiply that out if you want to know how much of the past fifteen years I've spent on these games ...) and sword and board in Veilguard is the most fun I've ever had with a Warrior. Playing 2-handed in DA2 comes close, but getting to Champion Level 30 that lets you block anything and bouncing projectiles back at enemy mages and Antaam gunners is just incredibly satisfying.
Also, try being a dwarf! You get some great reactivity. Grey Warden is excellent too, if you didn't do that already.

Hi, Andraste! Wow...OK, sounds like you know the game quite well. I will trust your advice/judgement and try playing a Sword & Shield when I am done the four PCs that I currently have on the go.

am i the only one who think that unique items are weak? some of them give intersting changes but they also have a negative side, while legendary items give only buffs i'm using only the helm that removes rage costs (60s cooldown)...is there a way to lower cooldowns? The only unique that I try to fit in all of my builds is the Maw of the Black City ring - not only because Crits are flashy and cool, but because they trigger other passives as well. I would say every other unique is highly build-dependent and some are arguably downright weak compared to endgame legendary gear BUT if you get them early enough, they might do a lot of work until you replace them for something else.
