Been running around driving myself batty trying to figure out what this thing is. Seriously, why is there a giant, wood-plank covered thing in the middle of Arlathan forest? It can't be nothing, right? It's too something to be nothing! Gah!

I've been avoiding most of the discussion so as not to be spoiled (I don't finish games nearly as quickly as a lot of Bioware fans, it seems), but I have to say I'm actually mostly liking this game now, and they did eventually explain why the Veilguard team's efforts seem disconnected from what's happening in the south - namely, they're also dealing with widespread darkspawn attacks. The only thing I'd say to that is that the intro still could have been better. I'd have had them explain from the very start that the south had their hands full and couldn't devote as many resources to tracking down Solas, rather than waiting until the scene with the Inquisitor. But it definitely meets the bar of leaving me looking forward to getting back to it during the day, and the initial Treviso/Minrathous choice succeeded at giving me a lot to think about and tangible consequences in the other characters' reactions. On a related note, I also appreciate that the dialogue choices let me portray Rook as uncertain and confused at times, rather than just always defaulting to confidence or having all the answers right away.
My one recent complaint is that, when Emmrich says that they all need to deal with their personal sidequests to make sure they're psychologically prepared to face the gods, he might as well have just said, "We are now entering the Mass Effect 2 Loyalty Mission stage of the game." As much as I liked most of the loyalty missions in ME2, I always thought the premise - that the characters would do a subpar job on the Collector Base if they weren't completed - was a little iffy, and I have the same reaction here.

I thought so too on my 1st playthrough, but Emmrich's personality kinda leans this way for the rest of the game so it's consistent with his character at least to be on the nose on what needs to be done to get people on track. He's a teacher after all. He's the person who always checks up on Rook to see how he's doing for example.

Doesn't matter if it's the third playthrough, Bellara's Act 1 mission still brings me to tears. I think it's a combination of the music, the VA, and how much I relate to it. On that note, love the new feature to take screenshots in cinematics.

And why do I care again? Would I justify a second playthrough just to rectify? Do I have OCD? How many questions are too many questions? Are the men going to "limit keyboard privileges" again if I keep this up? I'm like this too lmao I've restarted entire playthroughs over the most trivial or ridiculous things. Happens to me quite often. I didnt get the feel of my elf rogue, so after 15 hours or so I restarted with an elf mage warden. Got a better feeling this time around.

Me too. OTOH, I think Veilguard does a better job at selling the mechanic as a real thing than ME2 did. In ME2 you just had to take TIM and the Consort's word for it until you get to the endgame.

Gat Alethea through Fire and Ice. Using a GW warrior with Taash and Harding, it wasn't even all that difficult, which surprised me. I have Taash mostly specced into spamming invulnerability since her abilities don't really synergize well with a warrior Rook (at least not this build), and Harding handling combos and the occasional heal. Took a while to chip away their massive HP, although getting 6K damage from a Heavy attack on a weak point didn't hurt.
Also got to see Harding flirting with Taash, which was cute.
After that back to the Lighthouse for the usual sorting things out. Quests are coming thick and fast. I've got four in Arlathan, three in the Wetlands, plus a bunch scattered all over the place. I guess I'll hit Arlathan first, although I may find myself reversing course again.

With a rare afternoon off and crappy weather, I decided to just get right back to it. Dropped off another Champion essence in the Crossroads, although I'm leaving the Revenant until I'm comfortably overlevelled, since I found the last one to be a huge PITA. Since we were right next to the eluvian for Harding's rescue mission, I decided to go ahead with that.
Just hit level 37 and Caretaker level 8, although I haven't done any upgrading yet. Companions in the 4-7 range. Those are appropriate numbers for this stage, right?

We're not ready for it Did go to the area in my game and there were people there. Deepstalker, that's what's for dinner! His shield tells me there might be something to my dumb theory!

It's been a joy to read the posts of the people who finished, glad you all more or less liked it too! For me, this will be the best thread in the years to come, just as it is with the Mass Effect section, and the old DA section. I love the vibes in these What did you do today threads - Completed Harding's story arc and told her to embrace her anger. Fitting, coming from the angry woman I play She's not angry at her friends though.- Got rid of some Gaatlok in Treviso. Jacobus now starts to hear things... I don't wanna see where this goes - Continued with the main story because I was running out of companion quests, so I headed to Arlathan and freed some Dalish. - Went to Minrathous afterwards and met up with the Inquisitor again. Then with Dorian, and then I purged some Darkspawn and Venatori, Mae and Dorian thanking me by making me choose a little something Headed out to the Wall of Lights with Neve afterwards. Oh, and earlier Rana commented on Neve's and Rook's relationship, hehe. Alsoooo, HOW did I miss the cat house in my first run?! Only discovered it now - Went to talk with Bellara's brother, which didn't go too well. Then had dinner with Taash's mom. Luna showed her angry side again. Then we slayed Kataranda, poor thing - and by that I mean me because I died once Don't have revival charges on me and didn't pay attention to the electrified water enough... To counter that, Luna stayed with Lucanis and Davrin for stories and drinks! Took more pics of course. Scenery Pretty sure I missed those in my first run May the Dread Wolf watch you. Some pretty lanterns. I love the dragons! Story (some spoilers) Solas mentioned Cole And Josie and Cassandra and that was SO cool! Another Shadow Dragon reference. She really does look so angry at times, and it animates well, I think. The Inquisitor/Solas friend scene in the Cobbled Swan was damn beautiful, I really liked it a lot. There was even a hint the Inquisitor knew about Varric. Also, I installed the patch before this scene and my male Inquisitor has his normal voice again, not that deep pitch they accidentally implemented. And who got teary-eyed at this line? Yup, me! Nostalgic feelings again. I love that DAV seems to often do that for me. The Mae/Dorian quest for the Archon search was also quite good. I might already think about a head canon about my Inquisitor and Dorian Luna supported Dorian, his way fits her character very well. And she values Neve's opinion... who didn't want to give one at this point. Thanks for nothing I really like taking scenic pics again. Need to do that even more when I replay my first Rook at some point. I was thinking of re-rolling him (preferably sooner than later) and make it a Nightmare run. But I'd need to really make the build different and more durable and efficient, with more damage dealing.

So I am a bit frustrated, I played most of the day without Mods. This morning FMM worked 100% fine launched the game no dramas and played for about 3 hours. Came back to play and it would not launch the game, went through the process launched EA App and said preparing game then an hourglass and then nothing, just back to the EA App. Anyway uninstalled FMM and reinstalled it and exactly the same issue. Nothing has changed as when I played and FMM was fine was after the update. Anyone else having issues? Not personally, as I play on Steam and haven't installed any mods yet. However, I've had this issue with EA App/FMM for DAI, and one thing to check is whether EA App turned its overlay back on in settings. Try turning it off. Other than that, sometimes it takes several attempts to actually launch DAI for me. Thank you I should have thought of that will give it a go this morning.

Can I just create a ModData folder in the equivalent Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age The Veilguard\ModData? Or is there a way (I cannot find one) to change the path in FMM?

I haven't, but I might since I like hazelnut flavor.
Put Daria on hold for the work week and went back to Ulric. Found/rescued Lucanis from the Ossuary, explored a bit more in the Crossroads, and finally got the chance to flirt with Neve a couple of times while doing the newspaper run. I picked the 'sweeter' option for Coffee With the Crows and got the Choco whatever drink, but it makes sense Rook would want that since later on Rook is the one assigned to bring chocolate for everyone in the Lighthouse.
I've decided this will be the game where I do all the things I don't want to do - save Minrathous , use Davrin instead of Harding , and maybe even fight/punch Solas . Ulric is kinda all over the place, using whatever dialogue option strikes his (my) fancy at the time. Sometimes funny, sometimes panicked, sometimes friendly, sometimes serious. And, if special dialogue is available, I'll use that. I liked talking with Tarquin about family history.

Has anyone tried making Lucanis' hazelnut torte yet? I'm allergic to tree nuts unfortunately, so I can't make it as-is. But the apricot part interests me, so I may try to figure out something I can replace the hazelnuts with. Maybe crushed graham crackers or something. I'm open to ideas

I advanced Female Aldwir Veil Ranger Rook to level 22, and was just past the big Act 1 decision. I chose to aid Treviso for the first time and seeing Ashur blighted suuuucked. That can't end well. I have no attachment to most of Treviso's "murder clowns", aside from Chance. For some reason I love that guy. Ashur and the gang, though, I like them a lot.
I want to see how the story changes, particularly the additional content with Lucanis, whom I really enjoy. So that's where Rook stood when I could no longer handle the Veil Ranger playstyle. It was getting boring. Itemization was going extremely smoothly for me, and the game was simply too easy already, having barely dipped into my specialization. It was headshot, headshot, headshot, etc... with no exciting stuff to break it up. I just wasn't having fun. I don't think I'm a Veilguard Rogue player, though I'll probably try a Saboteur playthrough, eventually. I do love my Rook, though. She's gorgeous, tough, and snarky. She's been reborn as a Mage, still with the Veil Jumpers. I think I'm still leaning toward Bellara as her love interest. I love the Veil Jumper outfits, particularly the Time-tested Something-or-Other. (The first armor we find in the game is mechanically incredible, and this second one is beautiful.) I can see keeping that transmog'd onto Rook through the entire game. It animates so beautifully and really screams "Veil Jumper". This is my second Mage, but first time playing Mage with experience under my belt. It's always striking how easy everything becomes with experience. I haven't settled on a playstyle, yet, as she's only just reached the Crossroads. I've been freely mixing it up, Staff and Orb+Knife, using both situationally in nearly every fight. I'll be making the same big choice as made with the Rogue, since I want to see that content.

Yeah, I wish I could be more detailed, but I'm really not a computer person. All I did was delete the ModData folder from the game folder, and it automatically created a new one the next time I launched the game. I also remember reading long ago that you should never do any modding stuff through Program Files due to permission issues, so I wouldn't be saving mods anywhere near there. Hopefully someone else can be more help!

Played Ulric some more. Went back to Treviso for the 'funeral' arrangements, then to Arlathan Forest for the memorial quest and finding some chests and walkways. Basically I was stalling for time before going to get Davrin. I left off in the middle of the hike up the hill so who knows where the game will put me when I load up again. Then I went back to Daria's game and reloaded the save from before the last tweaking I did that I ended up not liking. Still made a few changes but I think I like her better. And, now I get to re-do going to Treviso for the first time (hi Hunkle Vi!) and the Ossuary for Lucanis.
Edit to add random pics:
Felassan nails it with this comment
I don't remember seeing this before? It's above the wardrobe in Rook's room
Recommended levels in quest log
Ulric finally found a new casual outfit and now he looks like Nicolas Cage
Not sure what happened to this guy

Hopefully someone else can be more help! No worries but thank you and I just experimented till it worked after again doing a complete reinstall and loading MODS new rather than copying them back. So at this stage all good.

I don't remember seeing this before? It's above the wardrobe in Rook's room Not sure what happened to this guy The portrait has been there at least since patch 3, since I remember seeing it and thinking "nice". Think the bloke might be semi connected to Bellara's story. Can't check out the notes in game since I don't have time so take it with a grain of salt and I might be forgetting something which makes the whole thing wrong. And heavy Bellara questline spoilers (like all the way to her final mission). There is a note which pops up when he appears which says someone will have to do the ritual, another will have to be the vessel and they volunteer to being the vessel for the future and the little ones. Signed by Vaer.
There is another note which hints at being written by Bellara's brother and his contact with Anuris. And another which details a ritual and also hints that the one who learned it was unclear on what was said when being told it.
So figure Vaer and Bellara's brother were hanging out there, summoning Anuris and the ritual went wrong/right. It going wrong would fit Bellara's quest line and why Cyrian is so accepting of the idea that his spell on their buddies failed due to his mistakes because he'd already "goofed up" big time with the other one.
Really need to remember to listen during her quest line if she ever details how her brother died or if some dialog changes if you do this quest late late game. It does change slightly if you've already done her first quest, but just the one where you read the note which is hinted being from her brother.
That being said I only just spotted the body yesterday after having done the quest like 5 times and just never having looked up, thinking the "Body" was the big splat of blood that appears under/by the artifact. So that's neat.
