Yeah, some of them were repetitive, but there were some nice interactions too. I really loved the Necromancer's one like "This is ridiculous. Why did I agree to come here?", "Plan or no plan, if you die, I get your corpse" and when she got revived "Let us never speak of this again". Also Isabella and Zither's flirtation which were added later were really funny too. Overall the kits in DAMP had more personality and uniqueness to them, that is something I welcomed and I would like to see it being carried over to MEAMP. I always hoped the Legionnaire would hit on the Alchemist, but she wouldn't get it and just give her normal air-headed responses. And then he keeps trying lol.

Never played DAMP was it really that bad? Not as good as MEMP but I still put 700 hours into it... That is a massive understatement.

The voices were one of the things that killed DAMP for me. One weekend early on we were supposed to use a dwarf character repeatedly and after the third or fourth time I couldn't stand his "I wonder if I'll ever go home again" line. I started screaming "No, no you won't!" at him on the next few outings, followed by quitting in disgust. I think I put in 30 hours in DAMP vs. 3000 in ME3MP. Combat barks are great, dialogue not so much. I couldn't stand to play long enough to get many kits, so I probably missed out on some nice banter. But each character would have to have a heck of a lot more varied dialogue to keep players from getting jaded. I've played many ME3MP kits over 150 matches each without getting bored of their combat barks, but I could barely stand 10 games with that damned dwarf. If they want us to continue to play they need to make sure their flavor dialogue doesn't drive us screaming to the hills.

Except that I'll have to recruit a group of cool guys not propomitng and only playing private matches with them XD Great idea. I'll teabag you when you bleed out like a scrub. Look who's here! Welcome back teabagger, you've been missed Oh, by the way. I'm going to Berlin in the first days of December to see a friend. You still there?

Well, ick on that.
Not that I had any plans for ME:A by this point, but finding out they're keeping the less savoury ideas from DAMP is disappointing.
I did like the system for joining games in progress. That was an improvement over ME3 MP. It saved on equipment and headaches.

In the gameinformer reveal, this month, they also explained that you can create custom games. So you can set enemy damage to increase and decrease your damage resistance. This provides more rewards. If they do this right (I.e. If the benefits from promotions are not infinite and scale properly) it could be interesting.

Why do they say "certain types of characters"? Does it mean that promoting some kits is just for rebuilding, while the others give those prestige points that apply to all the kits?

Why do they say "certain types of characters"? Does it mean that promoting some kits is just for rebuilding, while the others give those prestige points that apply to all the kits? If they do something silly like it were in DAI-MP, it can look like this: Promote a soldier and get 1% melee damage resistance and 5 hit points Promote an adept and get 1% power damage bonus and 1% cool down decrease Promote an engineer and get 1% ranged damage resistance and 5 extra shileds Obviously, things have to be capped at some damage resistance value like 80% and cool down reduction to 80% but I'm sure a lot of people will hit these limits very fast. And as hit points and shields should have no cap, that means level 1 promotion lords running around in platinum, spamming powers and taking no or little damage. I just hope they have something non-permanent in mind. Also, the only difference between Deluxe and Super Deluxe ($30+) are some mysterious Booster packs which might be weapons/armors or some easy experience packs to increase the stat bonuses. We'll know pretty soon, they would obviously have to tell more so that people will actually buy these. www.masseffect.com/buy

There's this one line from the "GameInformer article thread". Makes me think we'll have a "modifier" that'll disable the promotes, not just damage buffs, or health nerfs. Hopefully, cuz the worst part about the DAI:MP promote system was the people who were making "character how-to's" with like +200 promotes.
"-You still set the map, enemy, as before but you can also activate modifiers that can give you decreased health (for greater reward) or more damage (less reward)"

"-You still set the map, enemy, as before but you can also activate modifiers that can give you decreased health (for greater reward) or more damage (less reward)" It depends on how it would work. The idea to somehow gimp the promotion lords for DAI-MP was briefly considered and then hastily discarded as "nobody should take away from players the things they have earned with their hard work" or something like that. Promotion lord is still a promotion lord even with 30% handicap in health, just need to promote more to overcome that handicap.

have they said there's no cap on promotions are do we know it's just the same as dragon age? i probably won't promote anyway. i don't care about prestige and i like having a low ranking so it synergizes with my scrub status If there is a system like DAIMP, most likely it will have no cap for those things like health and shields. The problem with DAIMP for me was that it became impossible to pug after some time. Almost every pug had a promotion lord or baby promotion lord. So, I was mostly playing with moderately promoted friends who eventually either started to promote or quit. I also quit eventually after I got most of the weapons and soloed perilous a few times mostly because the game turned into a grind of random OP weapon drops. It is still possible to contribute up to a certain point but eventually, people will promote so much that it was just ridiculous like running to the middle of the map to get a better view, generating aggro on them and killing everything in a few strikes. The reasonable difficulties of the game were completely trivialized. So, they created inflated difficulties essentially unplayable for unpromoting players with more rewards meaning faster promotions and this got it out of control. They then created another difficulty, even more brutal where one hit from anything essentially kills any non-promoting player and stunlocks the whole group for like 20 seconds without any opportunity to move or do anything. At first, people complained and then, after about a week, some promotion lords soloed it even faster because the map was smaller. For me, pugging normally is a must. If I cannot pug, the game makes no sense. If I want to play only with friends, I can play some real coop RPG, not a shooter/action game.

Hopefully the promotion system is hard capped at a small percentage number, like at 5%, or MEAMP is going to be very flat.
The biggest problem I would have with this is, if like DAIMP, I won't be able to trap anybody in the reactor, & kill them. If there is a successor to Hazard Reactor, which there better be.

In SWTOR, you only got a bonus like this once by levelling the class/maxing out a companion. If it is cumulative, it's insane.

This is exactly my experience and conclusion from playing DAIMP. Like you, I am dedicated pugmeister, too. The total RNG drops were bad. Getting stuck in connect screen was bad. The key not dropping was bad. Rubberbanding was bad. etc. But nothing of it trivialized the game like the promotion system did - it just became pointless.

Probably because in ME3MP not enough people were paying cash money for them, so call it a Super Deluxe Edition Bonus and people will be all over it

Why are we getting XP Boosters for MP? So we can promote faster? Become an immortal promotion lord faster??

This thread is about how bad the Prestige system was in DAMP and how it is potentially going to ruin ME&MP.
At 9:25 he explains it, but he clearly has no idea about how it ruined DAMP.

I love how excited he is and says that we are going to be VERY HAPPY TO HEAR THIS. And that it will be a very nice benefit to veterans, because over time those bonuses will add up. No that is exactly backwards, it's artificial git gud, as someone can play 2000 hours and have N7 Over 9000 but that doesn't mean they learned anything, or are any good. In MEA, it will mean they don't HAVE to learn anything, or be any good, because the game will be made to ENSURE that they are ARTIFICIALLY good, so they can pat themselves on the back and keep believing they are awesome. Maybe it's time to quit gaming and go have some kids.
