That might be true, but why do other characters not suffer from this issue? Garrus, Tali, and especially Liara (unfortunately) seem to be written with more care and consistency. Even her counter part Kaidan doesn't suffer from this either. But Ashley seems to be the only one who has gotten it noticeably bad. Her one Citadel scene is pretty awful because it barely changes at all. And that scene is not romantic or endearing in the slightest. Compare it to the scenes with nearly every other aforementioned character. This is just one of several examples. I know this is likely more consistent with her character. But her stubborn and prideful behavior when referring to the events on Horizon are a real turn off. She acts like she wasn't wrong at all and doesn't seem apologetic about it at all. I still dislike that myself and could contribute to the fact why Ashley might be less popular than most in ME3. But she makes up with it by being more upset about the loss of Kaidan among other things. I still wish she got better treatment in ME3 than what we got for her. Some of the other characters didn't have their main writer change or, as you mentioned, she is less popular. Part of her character is to be more of a hard line Alliance soldier, which sometimes puts her at odds with what some players want (like Garrus or Liara, always there and rarely questions your decisions).
I would say Jacob was far worse than Ashley was. They didn't even give him a chance, just wrote any romance with him out.
For some of her more "personal" scenes I still think it was a combination of different writers not sure how to write her, and thinking the knew some of the communities opinion of her. But knowing that other characters were far more popular.
Don't get me wrong. I don't mind that she can call out Shepard out. In fact, part of the reason I dislike Liara and have some issues with Garrus is because they are professional Shepard butt kissers. But as I said, Kaidan and even Tali can get angry and call Shepard out. However, they try to make amends. I guess it makes Ash more unique than the others in that way, but as I said, it doesn't sit well with me. Especially if this is the girl you are with. Its not fair to compare Ashley and Jacob. They didn't even try with Jacob, especially in ME3. At least in ME3, you can tell some effort was made with Ashley. And I think you are right. I wish they had kept some of the scenes where Ash talks about god and Shepard's death more. But I guess those are hot button topics.

I wish they had kept some of the scenes where Ash talks about god and Shepard's death more. But I guess those are hot button topics. I was only comparing the amount/ quality of the writing and romance, not the characters themselves. As you said, it would have been nice to have kept some of the content they had written for her. I believe Kimberly Brooks went back a few months later, or about the time the the EC came out, and recorded some of the content on her own.
I agree with you about the other characters too. I really like Garrus, he is probably one of my favorites, but I wish that he would be a little more hesitant to trust Shepard. More like in ME1, it felt more like you were earning is trust. Ashley was in a similar position, in my opinion, some of the squad just lost some of their character (I guess that is the best word0) after ME1.

I really like this. It looks like a concept for the statue/ model we should have gotten, like some other characters had. And I don't mean the action figure thing.

I actually have this thread bookmarked, as weird as it sounds. Just checking in now and then. Hoping we get to relive the OT through a remaster, or better, a new game with the old crew. One can dream.

And I can see why it’s been a while since I did an Ashley LI in ME3. I get this ain’t the video version of The Dating Game, and is about blowing stuff up, but good lord. Either it’s really almost nothing or I broke something (mod) or got too friendly with someone else or BW really ran out of energy. Well getting ready to attack Earth (London) so we’ll see how we finish out.
EDIT: Curious I went to YT to see the whole thing. Yea, either a mod is breaking something or I made a wrong choice somewhere. Oh well.

In my Liara romance run, I left Kaidan on Virmire and really enjoyed Ashley in ME3. I'm not sure about the romance, but I would have loved more content with her in ME3 as friends. She came back on the Normandy and never really had anything to say to friendShep. Having her with me on missions though felt like having a sister at my Shep's side.

Don't know if anyone has played Resident Evil 3 remake, I haven't yet, but someone made a mod for Jill Valentine, the main character, wearing Ashley's Battlesuit from ME3. Looks good.

I don't know if the rumors of a Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster in the making are true but if so, I really hope they add in the deleted Ashley and Shepard scene from Me3. Fingers crossed. Ash needs more love in the third installment.

I don't know if the rumors of a Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster in the making are true but if so, I really hope they add in the deleted Ashley and Shepard scene from Me3. Fingers crossed. Ash needs more love in the third installment. Kinda feel like a Necromanger to dig out a several months old thread. Who cares ... I don't know: will Bioware touch the romances again? Unless they've got several unused lines and scenes in ME3, I doubt they're going to add anything new here. I don't think they'll grant Ash full conversations in ME3 once she's back in action. That's simply too much work which isn't covered by a "Remaster". Said Remaster may touch the game's tech, especially ME1 (combat system, inventory system etc), bit won't change the overall experience. Same for ME2 and ME3. If we're really lucky, they'll fix some mission bugs, touch some animations and fill in a missing line or two. Maybe we gonna see a more refined ending (especially if we can export ME!Remaster savegames to ME5 which seems to be set in the Milky Way after Shepard's story) ... but I don't think they'll touch Ashley's romance in that progress. I wish they'd do, but they won't. I'm open for surprises 'though.

It would be hilarious and sad at the same time if Ashley's bugs (at least that one in the cafe scene, which is clearly bugged) wouldn't be fixed in the remaster. Still, no remaster could fix my biggest issue with ME series: ME2 story. Honestly, I only like ME1's story out of all of them.

Love changing her ideology about aliens in me1 only to backtrack after the virmire loss. The dialogue is hilarious. Ash accusing shep of being mood swingy, Shepard accusing her of being passive aggressive. So much hidden dialogue between these two. not too mention the divine entrails comment from Shepard. This romance has way more depth than people give it credit for

Looks close enough to me. Lightning is entirely different, also helmet casts shadow now. I think the facial structure is the same, maybe more poly count compared to the old head.
Overall I think it's still the same face. And I like the new Ash.

As cptdata says, the lighting is different. Need to see a picture of her without the helmet. Maybe on the Normandy at her workstation. In the comparison pic the lighting in the original definitely shows off her beautiful full lips!💋

Legendary Edition. Let's imagine Bioware touched more than they're telling us (avoiding spoiling fixed or added content), what do you think should change in case of Ashley?
--------
I'll give some five ideas or so here I definitely would love to see:
Proper Bun on duty, open hair off duty. 'though I never saw it as a big issue, I always wondered why Ash got rid of her bun in ME3. What about regulations? When Shepard meets her the first time on Earth just before his/her trial, Ash is just a normal officer of the Alliance, but no Spectre yet. So why the open hair and the custom uniform? Especially that uniform caused me to raise brows: didn't she say something about catsuits in that game? ;-) Off duty, she can wear whatever she pleases.
New Horizon: different dialogue, no poor attempt to recruit her. One of the biggest issues in ME2 is the poor dialogue with Ash on New Horizon. I never got why Shepard tried to recruit her (or Kaidan) to work for/with Cerberus. Also the good Commander isn't explaining anything, resulting in a bad outcome for that talk. I don't think the result should be different (Ash/Kaidan won't join Shepard), but the dialogue needs an overhaul to make Shepard look less awkward.
More Interactions with Ash (or Kaidan) in ME3. Bioware once said, Kaidan and Ash had the same amount of lines, but Ash got most of hers while she's in that Huerta Hospital on the Citadel and Kaidan got more of 'em on the Normandy. Result is a lack of dialogue with Ashley on the Normandy. There's at least one cut dialogue dealing with Shepard's dying experience and if there's God. I always imagined that dialogue of similar significance like the one Shepard has with Liara when Shep needed a peptalk most.
Would love to see more small dialogues as well instead of click-responses.
Less booze, more serious relationship.
Okay, let's face it: Ashley drinks a lot in ME3. Maybe that's her way to cope with all the stuff Shep'n'co have to go through, but it feels a bit random, especially since she never has shown drinking habits in ME1. IF she's trying to cope something, I'd have loved to get a dialogue or two dealing with that. I can't imagine Shepard is simply cracking bad jokes on her expense (that one scene where she's utterly wasted and he joked about doing a fire alarm exercise ...) without a talk about it later.
Beyond the End Doubt the endings will be changed in any way. Maybe they'll add more images to the slide show for better understanding of what happened post finale. If Bioware touches that again, I hope to have more than a breathing Shepard. Doesn't need to be that much, I'd be happy with one single last image: Shepard in a medical bed, Ashley sitting next to him. That'll do it. Anything else is up to fanfics then.

Aaaw. I'd hoped that they would make a point of mussing her up a little in ME3 so she wouldn't look so ridiculously glamorous in the middle of an apocalyptic galactic war anymore.
Guess Kaiden will continue to be my designated Virmire survivor.

I haven't posted in a long time but the remaster has brought me back to Mass Effect. I recently did a playthrough of ME Trilogy as femshep so it is fresh in my mind to compare it to the remaster. I romanced Liara for the first time, since I had always romanced Ash or Miranda as Sheploo. Maybe it is my nostalgia goggles, but the I remember the pacing of Ash's romance being so much better than Liara's romance. Maybe it was doing Noveria before Feros that threw off the pacing. Once I got to ME3 Liara started getting on my nerves shortly before the Thesia mission, and then I gave up on the playthrough when she started crying about Thesia and killing reaperified Asari. I originally planned on doing the remaster as femshep with a Liara romance, but now I am set on doing the remaster with Sheploo and romancing Ash. Even with Ash being all but absent from ME2, and her missing from about a 3rd of ME3 I still find her the more enjoyable romance vs. Liara. I used one of my old ME2 saves where I stayed loyal to Ash and imported it to ME3 last night. I know a lot of people don't like how Ash and Kaidan question Shepard's ties to Cerebus, but I got a kick out of Shepard trying to playcate her and kept calling her Ash. I laughed out loud when she came back with "Don't Ash me." My first thought was there is the spitfire I remember. I just wish they had two hairstyles for her, ie hair in a bun when in combat and loose when out of combat.

I was digging around for some Ashley mods, and I found that two pieces of dialog are bugged for Ash. She apparently has a bugged additional romance dialog if Shepard was loyal through all three games, and a conversation she has with Liara on the Normandy is also bugged. I hope they are fixed in the remaster, since I am having trouble finding a mod that "restores" them.
