ME2 planet scanning was probably the most infuriating game mechanic for me in the entire trilogy. It's actually one of a few reasons that game has the fewest hours put in. I was not happy to see it back in ME3, but it wasn't nearly as bad that time around. People actually enjoyed it? Maker, think of the children.

Yeah, in the early weeks I hesitated in starting new games because of that stupid "feature". Thankfully, the Xbox 360 gibbed save editor was quick in arriving. It saved an otherwise amazing game from the efforts of evil saboteurs. I still can't believe they thought that crap was a good idea. SMH.

Planet scanning in ME2 is oddly relaxing. The annoying part is having to buy probes and fuel. Not so relaxing in ME3 since Reaper horns break the silence 99% of the time.

Hated planet scanning, hated limited fuel and probes.
I think ME1's galaxy map was the best, Bioware should have stuck with that. Loved the orbital view of the planets as well, much better than ME2 and ME3 for me.

So, Ive just read the nomad will have no weapons (if its true) and be fully customisable, Also I hope there will be a cockpit view in the nomad? with the option to switch from 1st to 3rd person views So we can take in the planets and visuals,

It's a third person game. Unlikely to have 1st person in the Nomad.
Plus... it's a rover, not an IFV like the Mako. (Though if you ask me, with that resiliency and armament, it could even be an MBT.)

The only thing I want them to add to the Nomad, is entering and exiting animations. Yeah that'd be nice. I mean we apparently select a planet and we don't get some outside view of FTL, we just see it while walking around on the ship then poof, a planet and it slowly gets bigger. Walk go the bay where the Nomad is, get in and drive out after the Tempest has landed... it'll be kinda amusing and semi-disappointing if with all that we just teleport in and out of the Nomad. edit: I'm assuming we get a 3rd person view of the ship as it comes in to land on the planet after we 'get into the Nomad' and canned animation of the bay opening and driving out down the ramp.

I like to be able to listen to some Ozzy, AC/DC etc, while driving it and if one of the squadmates starts talking , have the ability to turn up the sound so I don't have to hear them talking.. I'm surprised it has no weapons. if that's true. It can be customized. Hmmm. Can I upgrade the engine? How about the tires and suspension? Can I add a train horn? haha.

I'm not to surprised the Nomad lacks weapons. It's a civilian project for colonization/exploration. I'd still like a canon, and I don't think having an actual Mako or a Nomad with guns would be awkward either. I just think it makes sense enough either way.
From a gameplay perspective I can understand the desire to want to keep the combat entirely on foot so there isn't some disconnect. That and it ensures you don't just drive circles around larger monsters that they want to actually be a challenge.

If Nomad doesn't have weapons then there had better not be too many enemies in the "open" areas. DAI, it wasn't really worth using the horse because you'd just have to get off to fight.

Yeah, I mean it's a different setting. Think of ME1, you didn't exactly run into a ton of enemies on all the exploration planets. You'd run into em sometimes, depending on where you where. The Moon didn't have any enemies except some turrets at the one installation. Maybe it had a Threshermaw, I can't remember, most planets had one cause reasons I guess? Cerberus did it or something? Anyway, I'm sure running people over is gonna be a thing I get to do. I wanna slide into a group of enemies and then get out guns blazing if at all available. Or maybe my original fantasy of playing an infiltrator sitting on a hill overlooking a pirate base and layin' down some long range law on some sorry bastards. Didn't actually work out that great in ME1 sadly. You'd shoot and no one would die and they'd all turn and shoot at you and neither you nor them could actually hit each other lol. Anyway yeah heres hoping there aren't enemies every 10 feet, if for no other reason then that would be super weird in Mass Effect setting.

No need with a 3d person view. The camera is behind the Nomad.

Now that's some golden oldies...especially in the context of MEA. It would be awesome if we could create our own custom soundtrack for blazing around in. I'm no programmer but it seems quite doable...if they want to bother to go a little above and beyond. It would be a bit more "modern" for myself with some Atreyu and In Flames headlining my soundtrack. Probably have to throw in some Slayer for good measure.

Human "Classical Music", late 20C. A fine soundtrack. I'm really looking forward to the Nomad. Its design makes a lot of sense, considering we're being deployed primarily as explorers, rather than infantry. It looks like a lot of fun to drive, and its lack of weaponry keeps the focus on squad combat, as Adhin mentioned. I enjoy shooting armatures at the very edge of visibility, and occasionally running over things, but otherwise I always get out of the Mako to fight. With MEA's superior combat mechanics, I'm sure this would be doubly (quadrupley!) true. 10k mentioned entry/exit animations. I'd sort of held these as minimum expectations, given everything else going on in this game. I'd be surprised and disappointed if we didn't have these. A cockpit view would be pretty cool for those who are into that. I'd never use it. I'm one of those guys who even uses third-person for games like Gran Turismo, but I know some people love the cockpit view. I wouldn't get your hopes up, but maybe they'll surprise you. I wonder what the customizations will be? No doubt "paint jobs", but what else? "Body kit" type changes, maybe? I know they have said that we can upgrade the Nomad's speed. I assume/hope the handling can likewise be improved. We shall see.

I don't know. I mean I would have expected horses for your party in Inquisition, but instead they just vanished. With Bioware anything is possible. Detail isn't really their strength. You know in ME3 you would have expected the gun you have equipped would be the gun you'd use in cutscenes also. But instead your Claymore is strapped to your back and you're shooting people with a Katana that comes out of no where. Entering and exiting animations aren't even close to being minimum expectations in my book, when it comes to BW. A minimum expectation in regards to the ME franchise for Bioware, is having an asari cast in an expert role.

The way they've described the process of plotting a course to a world, entering the Nomad and disembarking from Tempest, an enter/exit animation seemed a given. Still, everything you say is exactly so. Let's hope they set a new, higher standard with this game.

I'm more than skeptical about Nomad right now. If it doesn't have weapons, it means that it's only purpose is to get across large areas of void. Which isn't a good thing no matter how you look at this. Just #emptySpace for the sake of #emptySpace. I had enough of these in DAI, trust me.

A minimum expectation in regards to the ME franchise for Bioware, is having an asari cast in an expert role. The difference between the two is that in DAI they had to make a lot of work for the Pathfinding of each companions with an horse. The exit/entrance animation isn't nearly as much complex. I do think they have to work on that for the next DA game, or my characters will always travel by foot. I don't get the connection. The fact that the Nomad doesn't have weapon is related to their unwillingness to calibrate the combat system with a powerful vehicle, not on how empty of full the areas in the game will be.
