BioWare obviously create Isabella as a typical African American Jezebel stereotype; a black woman who sleeps with everyone and getting STDs. Especially the scene with Aveline jokingly of saying "Who's the father?" as a way of saying that she has different children with different men, and she don't know who the father is (hence baby mama drama). It's a damn shame that BW can't write people of color without stereotyping them. African American? Until now, I was convinced that Isabela is Rivain. Where lies African America on the Thedas map? *Sighs*

She literally insults her by saying that she had sex with so many men and got kids from different men, that is also a racial discrimination of a Jezebel/Baby Mama stereotype. FYI Isabella just looks like a Caucasian woman with dark skin and saying she's a black woman. How is insulting someone about their promiscuity racial discrimination? Any person of pretty much any race/gender/sexuality/etc can be promiscuous, so there is nothing racial about it. As for her not looking black, that was a problem with the old Eclipse engine.

Come on it's obvious they portrayed her as a Jezebel of being promiscuous, nasty, and thinks about herself of what's between her legs, and she has diseases as their sick way of making fun of women who are HIV positive. And the whole engine thing is the lamest excuse, they could've use a better engine to have better facial features.

Because African American women are gorgeous! But she looks like more a Polynesian woman imo. Aveline blames Isabella for her way of life she can't imagine for herself. Because she's a prude woman, she can't tolerate it, it's simply not her world. The antagonism is interesting between those two differents women. It's more about her behaviours than anything else. She literally insults her by saying that she had sex with so many men and got kids from different men, that is also a racial discrimination of a Jezebel/Baby Mama stereotype. FYI Isabella just looks like a Caucasian woman with dark skin and saying she's a black woman. "It's a damn shame that BW can't write people of color without stereotyping them." " BioWare obviously create Isabella as a typical African American Jezebel stereotype. "Since how many times a social statut and a way of life are a racial discrimination? If I remember the stereotype of black people, she doesn't fulfits the criteria in any case. "Isabella a typical African American Jezebel stereotype" " Isabella just looks like a Caucasian woman with dark skin and saying she's a black woman. "It's your opinion first. And is she black or caucasian? ambigous arguments, isn't it? "saying she's a black woman" it's an enterpretation, your interpretation. "BioWare obviously create Isabella as a typical African American Jezebel stereotype; a black woman who sleeps with everyone"Nobody means it, but finally it seems to be the opinion you have on blackwomen, so your opinion, nobody else. Finally... So it seems all you are saying is your interpretation. it's your judging criteria, it belong to you not to a third party. Now this Thread is about Isabella in Thedas and not about racism, feminism and discrimination, etc... If you want to talk about those subject, I invite you to open one in the Off-topic section, because the debate is sliding on repetitive statements with measlinding arguments.

Who said I hate the player? I have nothing against you, that 's evidence :it's your attitude. You suspect Bioware of having wrong intentions concerning racism, discrimination, I can't agree.
You're talking about a personnal experience through a thread , and you finally soil it, by repetitive statements and with insistence. This thread deserves better than a sub-topic that ruins the principal thread : It's disrespecfull concerning GoldenGail3 who creates this beautiful thread about Isabella. I knew what was going to be happening before it starts, I saw it coming, I talked with someone about that, if you need a prouf... You have done the same not only on Isabella's thread, but on two other: Vivienne & Sera. So here it's about racism because she's apparently black, Vivienne idem, and on sera's thread it about internalized racism... Do we talk about obstinaty, see obsession? WTF???
You found funny to spam inside threads this way? Don't ruin the pleasure people have to talk about games.
What is uncomfortable, is to deviate a thread the way you act, by forcing people by insistence. And yes that's unpleasant and unfair. I'm sorry you didn't understand it yet.
That's why I invite you to create a thread Off-topic concerning this sensible subject as I already said, I'm sure you will find people eager and happy to talk about it, without make them feel ucomfortable at all. This forum is full of gentle persons and open-minded which will be glad to share their experience too. So jump on the occasion, and perhaps I'll come myself to talk with you about racism, discrimination, in a more serious way. I can't do you better for you.
For me the subject is definitively closed.

Eh, honestly, while I don't exactly agree with cloud9, she/him is talking about the character construction here, and if that involves themes like racism and discrimination for her/him, there's nothing wrong about that. Some may think that games are just games and that's it. Homewhever there's not wrong with seeing games as a media and having this kind of discussion about character development and writing. You can simply ignore her/his posts if you do not want to debate it, seriously. There's no need to censor someone. It's okay if you don't want to talk about social aspects, but there's no need to get touchy.

It's not only about character construction, and it's what I don't like so much. I'm open to discussion, if not I will not be here but when arguments are unfounded, it leads nowhere. Input racists motives to Bioware is not discuss character construction, it's biased, simple. So trolling the same way in 3 threads at the same time...What goal you want to reach? that's why I propose him to create a specific thread.

Nice picture, Mickymax69.
As for what what real-world ethnic origin may have inspired Isabela's appearance, I've always thought she had a vaguely Middle Eastern appearance. Also, I think the portrayal of her sexual habits had something of a parody in their over-the-top-ness - and yes, the STD topic was played with in a scene with Anders - but she's not unlike the rest of DA2 in that. Think of sarcastic Hawke and the over-the-top insanity of some blood mages.
In any case, I see no reason not to like her as she is, give or take a few things I don't think were meant seriously in their over-the-topness, and I see no reason to judge her for her sexual habits. She doesn't want to get emotionally close to someone while not missing out on the fun. It's an attitude I can understand.
