I like the dialogue between her and Aveline have in the game
Isabela: So, how good is Donnic? Is he cocksure? Aveline: (Sighs) Just... get it out of your system. Isabela: Did he curl your toes? Isabela: Dwarf your beard? Isabela: Arl your Eamon? Isabela: Shank your Jory? Isabela: Praise your Maker? Isabela: Grope your grinder? Isabela: Establish his canon? Isabela: Kaddis your Katie? Isabela: Dampen your Divine? Isabela: Pamper your Paragon? Isabela: Grey your Warden? Isabela: Pudding your peach? Isabela: Float your frigate? Isabela: Explore your Deep Roads? Isabela: How about "satisfy a demand of your Qun." Isabela: Or did he Cup your Joining? Isabela: Or master your taint? That's an old one. Aveline: Yes, all right? He is an incredibly proficient lover. Happy? Isabela: Well that's rather personal, don't you think?

She is my preferred romance. Merrill is my second choice. Issy just fits better. And how can one say no to those curves? I never liked the DA2 version of Anders, Fenris is too much of a drama queen, and Merrill... well... I can never fully bring myself to trust Merrill. Isabella though... Now that's a woman. She can captain my ship anytime.

Nothing is as good as romancing Isabela rivalry styled, even though I shamelessly played as a snarky Hawke during that playthrough...

Hmm Isabela. That one just reminded me so much of Zevran, she was for me literally female version of him. Nice romance with her was as well. I was a little stucked when BioWare thought the only reasonable continue to romance is to go with feelings to her - I mean I could go with Zevran serious without mentioning any big feelings, he just kept on it eventually by himself, I expected from Bella the same. Thanks BioWare I had to repeat part of second act because of this.

It occurs to me that Isabela's fame as a pirate harlot is a little exaggerated.
Let's see. She rejects the guy at the Hanged Man, another one Varric mentions during party banter, Emile du Launcet, Alistair in the graphic novels and as a general rule won't sleep with anyone in her crew.
I believe Isabela hasn't had half as many lovers as the other characters imagine. They rather seem to be shocked by the fact that she has casual sex at all.

Isabella was just an adventure in my playthrough, I found her too fickle, as I didn't want to loose my time running after her, I choose merrill. I think I try to avoid to be the ones who suffer, seeing her as a femme fatale. She seems be an insatiable woman. She's afraid of boredom. Even if Hawke plays honestly with her and meets her needs, He's facing her limits like she can't be constructive. She's convivial, without taboos, and enjoys having fun.I like her Straight-talk about the good things in life. So I still don't know if Hawke can change her mind & end with her, as I play a male warrior. But I like having her in my group and hear her teasing Varric about his chest's fur.

Oh dear lord, Merrill. And you should try and rivalmance her, she becomes less fickle and she has alot of excellent character devolpment - and yeah, you will break up with her... But than again, Fenris... DOES the same so...

Ah ah! Ok! So I'm gonna try next time. It's pretty obvious it was a rivalmance. I'm quite sure it'll be interesting. I don't know why, she reminds me a little bit of Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island, even if the movie was not a success, there is not so much movies with pirate girls. Thanks GoldenGail3 for the advice.

No picture in the OP, OP? *Disappointed*
As for the topic, I love pirate girls, and I still resent it that the DA team didn't make my headcanon canon: that Hawke and Isabela embarked on a privateer "career" after Kirkwall. Perhaps it's just as well. With Hawke's luck, they would've been sunk by a demon ship before a month was out, with only them surviving without any treasure, ship or crew.
@mickymax: I like that movie, even though the acting wasn't exactly outstanding. It's just too bad that the genre seems to have died out, with only parodies being successful.

Except Pirates of the Carribean with Knightley's role, it's right, it's a total vaccum. There is one of them, with Jean Peters in a J.Tourneur movie (1951): Ann of the Indies. Isabella is certainly a character inspired more or less by her imo.

It's been a few decades since I watched it, but it sticks in the mind. I still recall the epilogue when her ship was reported as sunk, and Anne Providence, captain, as dead. Sad, but inevitable. I don't recall the ship's name though. Edit: Isabela is mentioned under "fictional figures" in the Wikipedia article "Women in piracy". Anne Providence is not, damn people's ignorance of the classics

BioWare obviously create Isabella as a typical African American Jezebel stereotype; a black woman who sleeps with everyone and getting STDs. Especially the scene with Aveline jokingly of saying "Who's the father?" as a way of saying that she has different children with different men, and she don't know who the father is (hence baby mama drama). It's a damn shame that BW can't write people of color without stereotyping them.

Because African American women are gorgeous! But she looks like more a Polynesian woman imo. Aveline blames Isabella for her way of life she can't imagine for herself. Because she's a prude woman, she can't tolerate it, it's simply not her world. The antagonism is interesting between those two differents women. It's more about her behaviours than anything else.

She literally insults her by saying that she had sex with so many men and got kids from different men, that is also a racial discrimination of a Jezebel/Baby Mama stereotype. FYI Isabella just looks like a Caucasian woman with dark skin and saying she's a black woman.
