They did say the Kett aren't designed to be just enemies, so the relationship between them and the MW species might change. I hope so. The last thing I'd want is for them to be some monolithic alien nemesis like the guys from Independence Day that offer no hope of being anything other than xenocide fodder.

I'm not afraid of that at all. I'm afraid they'll be manipulated by some monolithic force that makes them your enemy, but I'm sure as a whole the Kett species will be written so they're a proper species with nice guys and mean guys in between them and peaceful and violent types and Ketts you get to befriend.
That, or they're like the Covenant in Halo and they really feel alien most of the time until some of them ease up.
Oh yeah, completely random though, I forgot to mention that there's a "Super-boss" aka Dragons from DA:I in the game too, as seen in the Cinematic trailer. Each major planet has one I think and they present the same kind of challenge as the dragons from DA:I. Personally I'm okay with that. Dragons were a highlight for me in DA:I.

Do we have confirmation that there's going to be respawning enemies and/or random events? I could think of nothing more boring than driving around a desert planet with absolutely nothing worth while to do once I killed all the baddies and hostile wildlife.

I'm referring to the mechanic in DAI where we would stick flags in stuff to claim it for the Inquisition. It just seemed ridiculous. I kept imagining some stonecutter coming back from his lunch break to find the Inquisition flag flying over his quarry and going "what the hell is this?" I hope we aren't doing this in Andromeda.

I do believe Mac referred to events happening like stumbling across the giant fighting the dragon in DAI. I don't think respawning enemies has been confirmed or denied yet.

Do we have confirmation that there's going to be respawning enemies and/or random events? I could think of nothing more boring than driving around a desert planet with absolutely nothing worth while to do once I killed all the baddies and hostile wildlife. This is addressed directly in the GI article in a section entitled "Keeping Busy". This is a subheading under a larger section about exploration and the Nomad. I can't just post it verbatim, for obvious reasons, but I'll summarize. They acknowledged ME1's weakness in that exploration was in many ways characterized by finding some mineral nodes and encountering some nearly identical outposts. For MEA, they talk about the types of things that we will encounter while driving the Nomad about. "Critical path" is a phrase used to denote the main mission or current side quest content. Mike Gamble said the following: "There are combat-related encounters, puzzle-related encounters, a lot of things that will happen to add more depth to the critical path. Some of the stuff will be entirely optional." There are also other cool things happening on each world. Most worlds are home to some type of super-boss creature. (Think DAI's High Dragons, in principle.) These will mostly be out of our league when we first encounter them, but will incentivize us to return for further exploration.

The GI article also mentions Ryder has a device on his wrist that allows him to automatically notify some command center when he completes certain tasks.
"Find object. 1/1 - QUEST COMPLETE! +1 Ai Points"
Overall, everyting suggests the game is segregated the same way as DA:I structurally. You have the main Andromeda Initiative objectives which is the largest bulk of the gameplay, like Inquisition's building the inquisition via power gathering and aquiring agents and keeps or just completeing quests, then you have the main story which is probably just 5-7 linear levels in the same beats as ME1's noveria, therum, feros part in the middle except they'll be completely linear instead and only 2 hours long each at max I guess. Loyalty missions are just companion quests and I guess the squadmate dialogue is just the usual squadmate dialogue where most of it is well written and perspectivates aspects of the main narrative, but never ties directly into it in terms of causality and plot influence, and apparently they only just finished making the final mission which according to the mission designer on Twitter said the entire team was blown away... I'm just not getting my hopes up for it. It's been a while since BioWare has made a really satisfying endgame at this point, especially when it comes to incorporating choices you've made in a really effective way.

The GI article also mentions Ryder has a device on his wrist that allows him to automatically notify some command center when he completes certain tasks. "Find object. 1/1 - QUEST COMPLETE!" that should cut down on some needless running around. That's an optimistic view. Personally this is the worst part of DA:I though, when you get an objective and it just says "quest complete" right as you pick the quest item up because then there's not even ANY story to it. As tedious as it is to walk such long distances I just want quests to be memorable as often as possible, which means I'll gladly walk those long distances if there's good conversation or character-development on both ends. Only very few missions had that. Personally I thought completing all the major tasks in The Hinterlands and then seeing the mage and templar fights die down was really satisfying, and especially when you can then recruit the captain by the Crossroads afterwards because his job is done. That's why I have some hope that Andromeda will take those parts of DA:I and maybe make them more frequent and then make it culminate better. I don't like the near-final mission of DA:I because it just shows you the forces you've got, appearing like you can just see them as a bunch of flags and nothing else, kinda like in ME3's Earth part. I just think you can make the player-journey reflected more effectively like the Suicide Mission or the stand against the Hunt in Witcher 3's middle act finale.

Hopefully if there are respawning enemies they'll follow what The Phantom Pain's enemies did and change their equipment and weapons to better counter the method that was previously used to defeat those before. Might be a bit to ask but it would definitely keep it fresh if we were to pass by a same area multiple times. And most of the things in the article seem like great changes. Seriously cannot wait to dig into this game, I'm gonna feel like a little kid running to my Xbox to put it in and flavor the first music and walk around like I really hope we get to explore the different ARK's... Or even better yet we have to investigate a crashed ARK which is basically a ghost ship now and all kinds of spooky things going on in there

I was going to say the same thing, but didn't feel well enough to get into a conversation, yesterday. Linkenski and I seem to have taken very different things from the article. That doesn't mean either is right or wrong, and I did enjoy reading this in particular, but it's definitely a big extrapolation. (Maybe a good one? We'll see.) This certainly isn't the first time two individuals have read the same text and walked away with markedly different impressions. He's definitely making a greater effort to decipher "the hidden meaning between the lines", whereas I just read the article and set it aside. Again, both are valid, and I enjoy reading his different takes.
