If it's a retcon, it was already present in the trilogy, since Shepard notwithstanding, we got Kahlee Sanders and Bailey in ME2, and another cop in ME. Don't forget Dr. Conrad Verner. Lol, true. It seems weird to scream retcon now.

Sounds like you have absolutely no notion of what's involved in a creative process and just want to whine. It's not unreasonable at all to come up with a design for one thing but after further development find that it doesn't fit the bill for that, but could work perfectly for something else. I'm not even just talking about character design here either. Designs get repurposed all the time, usually because the designer really likes that particular design and wants to find a place for it. She's a biotic, second in command, received special training, with a probable connection to Cerberus, and uses a discarded piece of concept art of Miranda for her look. Forgive me if I am not flabbergasted by their originality Bioware has always recycled characters; a dorky half elven warrior? Khalid begets Alistair. A multi-classed fighter who hates magic for what it has done to him and his family, despite using it? Valygar begets Fenris. A burly, drunken berzerker? Black Whirlwind begets Ohgren. A grim mercenary who becomes determined to save his people? Canderous begets Wrex (even to the point where he kills the old "Canderous" in Fist). A homicidal automaton? HK-47 begets Shale. Sometimes this is to give the player a sense of familiarity, while still having new Companions. Sometimes it can be to take that archetype in new and/or different directions that they weren't able to previously. And sometimes it can be to deconstruct them, as DA2's Anders/Justice is Bizzaro Mirror version of Wynne (who herself could be a Bizzaro Wild Flower). Examining archetypes from different angle doesn't have to be a bad thing, especially if that character is otherwise occupied or possibly dead.

Their eyes are totally different, so are the eyebrows and nose. Mouth it's hard to determine because they're different expressions.

The RL model looks quite striking if I do say so myself. Even with the hair in the first shot.
The second shot by the way is another example of short hair that I could live with.

But can you understand why it would appear that way to others? It's not just that you root for a chaste relationship, it's that you express hopes against the occurrence of possible sexual encounters or characters. Like in that promiscuous dwarf LI thread, for example, when someone wished for a flirty dwarf, and you persistently replied about how fervently you hoped against it. For the most part, no one minds you wishing for something different. It's when you execrate what others hope for that it begins to seem petty. No, I cannot actually. I don't understand how my expressing my dislike for a thing means I have issues with those who like said thing considering I have never once said that. With Cora here, I have expressed this opinion twice before you jumped on me like this. Really only once in detail and the other just a single post of disappointment. The only one execrating people here is you and a few others. I'm not execrating you, Hanako, and I'm sorry I've made you feel that way. I absolutely never said you have issues with the people who like it, but the with the thing that they like, just as you just have.

As far as I recall, the leak mentioned Cora has a power that consist in a biotic bubble where we can cover ourselves from danger. The gameplay trailer shown a similar biotic power, though maybe this is a different one. Or maybe they changed it, but I think it can be an interesting conversation.

There's reddit post speculating it's Miss Switzerland The problem is that only one of them is actually pretty. Protip: It's not Cora Or perhaps she simply got the Miranda treatment. Turning this: Into this: Funny how they didn't have that problem with Sheploo.

Maybe it has less to do with BioWare's ability to render a woman accurately and more to do with the ridiculous amount of scrutiny we routinely put on female looks...

I didn't mean rendering a woman accurately, as in she can't look good, but as accurately compared to the model. So far, Liam and Scott looks closer to their models then Sara. But I think for her we have to wait and see the next trailer, since Scott changed quite a bit. Cora's model can also be another person so the point is moot. I just don't think she looks really that similar to that woman, if she's her model. It doesn't meant she's not attractive or pretty though. As I said before, I like her.

I'm on the Cora bandwagon. I'm seriously digging her appearance and I'm extremely interested in her initial position as 2nd in command and how that evolves.

I agree on that. I don't see Sheploo model's identical to Shep at all. I see the inspiration, but the limitations of the engine where you scan the model is obvious. The same as Miranda's model scan. Shep model's scan is not better than Miranda's. As yourfunnyuncle says, it's more about our scrutiny.

I took a good look at Cora, it's... Well, I was looking at the wrong pictures when I said she isn't too attrative to me, since YFU's avatar was the closest detail shot. I gotta say, a frown doesn't suit her at all. She looks much, much better when her face is neutral or even smiling. But that nose from the profile... Poor girl, that thing should be classified as a stabbing weapon, being as pointy as it is...

I like the fact she looks like she's got a rough and ready kind of look abbout her something you'd expect from a potential first officer like she's meant to be so it's all good to me.

In Mass Effect both Miranda's and ME3 Ashley's face were kinda off. All I want is something like this:

And I think hairstyles alone doesn't make you feminine, masculine or whatever. I think it's fine if some people dislike or hate her hairs or her looks or her appearance. But I don't agree on the hairstyle=butch lesbian thing. I do think she looks attractive and feminine, but fair enough if you think otherwise. Hopefully there'll be other romances more suited to your tastes.
