Just as usual, nobody is interested in male protagonists nowadays. Wait till fanart is fully in motion, it will be 1:10 ratio. I dont think that "nobody is interested in male protagonists nowadays". they are just not on these forums or on tumblr:P i believe its more ike equal ratio right now Yeah, I for one to not even care about Sara as PC (as Sister, yes I care about her). Since I never read Sara thread, I wonder what they come there to talk about? If about her appearance then, I am not surprise since over 50% of ME player like woman. And I think i saw fanart that feature Male shepard alot.

He was cute, but pretty standard in the 4K footage. The N7 day trailer is just a fappening though, honestly.... I've never seen a protagonist that hot. ... he is your brother ...or you

I'm liking Scott's big ears, haha.
I may very well use his default face, especially if it can be ever so slightly tweaked.

I totally thought this dude looked similar to me, with a few minor differences, until I saw the scene in which he and Dr. Lexi tumble to the ground. That was when I first saw the ears. The more I see him, the less we look alike. The only scene in which we even look similar is in that profile scene in which he's looking out into the desert. That's probably good, for the whole "uncanny weirdness" thing.
I'll certainly be using Scott at some point, though he may not be called Scott, and he may not have this face (and certainly not those ears). I thought I might play as BroRyder first, this time, but that will likely be up in the air until I actually exit the character creator. I still feel like I've barely heard his voice, so I'll be eagerly awaiting the next video they decide to share with us. The visuals get better each time, so who knows how he might change between now and then?

I actually prefer making my own characters, but I might roll a default Scott Ryder once. He looks really good--ears and all. I really don't get the ear hate but whatever. On another note, I'm glad we got to hear some Sara in this last teaser, but I am also really looking forward to seeing more of Scott in the next reveal. I'd like to hear more dialogue to see how he is going to sound in character. The 4k reveal was not enough for me.

I like goofy ears in guys. Actually, I have a thing for guys who have ears that are a little way not normal like they stick out a lot or are a wee bit too small. So BroRyder's ears are a big plus from me. Plus the stubble is... really hot. Me too. It's one of my weird preferences that I find really attractive. I'll never use him as default since I always customize my characters, but I find the ears endearing.

So it occurs to me that when we play SisRyder, Scott will have to have some kind of default personality when we interact with him. What kind of default personality or relationship with Sara (or the father too I guess) would you hope for in this game?

I want to be able to determine the relationship myself, not have it predetermined for me. I would too, but there is already going to be history between these characters when the game starts. My hope is that whatever they go with, they won't have the sibling be too antagonistic right off the bat. As much as I loved Carver Hawke, I wouldn't want another Carver 2.0; there can only be one.

Them setting up assumptions and predefined things means that we are limited in how we can play Ryder, something I was hoping they'd avoid. I wanted something like the Warden or Inquisitor, not Hawke or Shepard(in later games).

We don't know if this is a certainty. I mean it makes sense for there to be something there as they are family members. For all we know they could be ambivalent toward you until you start forming a bond with them (whatever kind that is). This is just speculation. No need to get all doom and gloom over it yet. Cheer up!

The predefined relationships are likely to be the ones with your father, sibling, and that man we saw running with the PC in the image preview (Liam?) as your friend. Of course, that doesn't imply that you won't be able to change those relationships.

This is no different than what we had in the aforementioned DAO. The city elf had Shianni and family, the Dalish had Merrill and Ghoul-boy (can't recall his name), and so on and so forth. You cannot create a believable character with no anchors in the world. Since this is not a tabletop RPG in which we get to show up with our own, fully original creations, BioWare must do this for us. I'd be very disappointed if they didn't do so.

I saw many people who enjoyed the Inquisitor, at least as many who didn't enjoy them. And many of those who didn't wasn't because of them being unattached but for other reasons, and for many many those were fixed come Trespasser. I didn't site DAO for backstory, I cited it for the options available to the player, since once we get through the origins(my least favorite part of DAO) the Warden is like the Inquisitor.

I liked Shepard in ME1, but starting in ME2 and really in ME3 I lost connection to them because Bioware assumed too many things about their character. So if Ryder is like that, it doesn't give me much confidence. Inquisitor is my favorite Bioware protagonist since Revan in KOTOR.

The constant griping about pre-defined backgrounds always amuses me, because hasn't Fallout shown it's impossible to please people? In Fallout 4, many people complained about the Sole Survivor having a defined family background, feeling it limited the RPG elements... which was a tad weird when you consider that Fallout 3 had a clearly defined background for the Lone Wanderer, as did the Chosen One in Fallout 2 and the Vault Dweller in Fallout. Even weirder is how in Fallout: New Vegas, the Courier did not have any defined background beyond a few scant and optional bits of dialogue... and some people still complained about how this limited their ability to roleplay. No-one it seems is ever satisfied either way.
