Scott Ryder 'BroRyder' (Official Thread)

The chart wasn't a reference to real life men - it was an image referencing male proportions in classical art.

Here's a link to my post earlier in this thread, regarding male height in representational art. The post below mine, I believe, compares Shepard and Ryder to this chart. Here is the original image. Remember, we're talking art here - paintings and statuary. 'Heroic' would be what you would use when creating a sculpture of a god or barbarian warrior or whatever where you want it to be obvious we're looking at a big, intimidating man vs. a "dumpy" (read:normal, average, what we see every day) one:
My post goes into more detail, but in summary, an average real life male is 7.5 head tall, and these are Scott's apparent proportions in his kit (before they fixed the camera angle in the updated version). Shepard is an abnormal, doesn't usually exist in real life, 9 heads tall. So you can't really compare the two and call out Scott as the 'wrong' one. If anything, Shepard is a giant freak with a small head. It tells you something about media representation of men, that we look at Scott and go 'lol he's short' but see nothing off about Shepard. (A bit like how some see Sara's face, assymetrical and without makeup, and complain she doesn't look like a 'real' attractive woman - go find a video of Jayde Rossi speaking and emoting and you'll see they actually did a fantastic job capturing her, vs. the made-up, well-lit Photoshopped images of her Sara keeps getting compared to.)
