SofaJockey I know there is not much hope of getting an answer, and a lot of other questions are really important, but I am still wondering in the Character section: Will we be able to display an individual MP character's name anywhere in the match rather than only the account name? and... is there a chance of the open-face helmets/different heads for the kits like in SWTOR CC? I think there are a few questions dealing with making the MP characters more "character" like with the banter and more customization options.

More customization options for the armor and being able to decide whether you want helmets on or off would be a great addition. Giving the various kits more "personality" though… if it's anything like what they did with DAMP then a great big hell no. Personally, I think BioWare should step up the customization for our multiplayer characters, but leave them blank slate-y enough for us players to project our own ideas of what personalities they might have.

I actually agree with you, I just did not put it well enough. What I'd like is more variety for the faces and the ability to display the player-given name. I would not mind more soundset variety as well though, in other words extra one-liners for the combat feedback. More like Baldur's gate 2 voice-sets when you had two or three grunts for wounded or winded or critical hit etc.
EDIT: and a few emotes, so you can wave, clap on the shoulder, hug and facepalm instead of just heavy melee Because it's cute. (Ducks)

But that's making the assumption that all casuals == dumb. That's just not the case. Maybe not but they are all filthy.

Does anyone know if a separate team focused on the development of the multiplayer like they did with Dragon Age: Inquisition?

it is known that the game won't have dedicated servers, so that means that all the players in the galaxy are together in the same server, right?

It's a hard concept to understand, but there is no server.

It's a hard concept to understand, but there is no server. would you kindly explain more? even when there is no server, my question is if players are separated in world regions or are all together, and a player can join games with players all over the world for example, DA:I MP is "host based" but players from south america cannot join games/play with players from the rest of the world, and it is almost impossible to find a game and it takes forever is in ME:A MP the same or not?

Well, afaik there has been no official response on this yet.
We got confirmation that there would be a cap on promotions with the Prestige system in the thread dedicated to that topic, but no such comfort in the thread dedicated to whether or not there will be a region lock.

A P2P connection method doesn't require a server for gameplay calculations. One of the players will act as host. What is still needed is a matchmaking server where the sessions are negotiated and some kind of transaction thing or authorization stuff. When the matchmaker has rules not to connect different regions you won't find them in your matches without taking extra effort.

I've been running into it lately when players on the same platform (pc) cannot join each-others' lobby, because of a different game version or some such. Has this been taken into consideration, to ensure that most people are able to group-up?

Has this been taken into consideration, to ensure that most people are able to group-up? One 'barrier to entry' is paid DLC which splits the player base. BioWare have always issued free DLC to avoid that, recouping costs from optional micro-transactions. There may be regional locking to minimize lag, but on DAI I thought it was possible to invite someone you already knew, bypassing that mechanic.

Another barrier to entry would be people running on different patch versions, which has mostly become a thing of the past with clients like Origin forcing you to download the newest patch before you connect to the game's servers, but occasionally a few players will slip through the cracks and wind up not being able to match with anyone until they manually install the patch.

I very much take issue with the idea that it's okay to use a region lock to avoid lag issues, rather than properly designing and optimizing a game to have a functional MP. It was possible to join friends games after they had begun (if you tried to enter from the lobby you'd get a black screen) however the fact is if you had to do this then you would be suffering terrible lag issues such that you probably couldn't handle playing with them anyway.

I hope they keep some aspect of the ME3 pack system. I've always loved earning in-game currency to purchase things like that. I'm a little conflicted on being able to directly purchase whatever you want because I feel like in the long run it would hurt the longevity of the MP. But even an RNG junkie like myself (basically every game I play has RNG, Destiny, Borderlands, Battlefield 4 etc, I love the feeling of having that dice roll payout) will start to get frustrated. I ended ME3's MP with over 400 hours and probably over the last 100 were dedicated to getting the final gun I needed after unlocking literally everything else, the Geth Spitfire, and I never got it. So I get the idea of directly purchasing. Not really sure where I was going with this so I'll leave with this, I still cite ME3's and Battlefield 4's pack systems as a way to do RNG right without a direct need or focus on using real money.

All of this talk about customization, and I'm just sitting here hoping that the multiplayer combat system will be a lot less clunky than before. Don't get me wrong, I love having the ability to change every little minor detail in my characters, especially if I know other players will see them, but a lot of developers fall into this trap thinking that cramming in aesthetics features is more important than gameplay tuning and weapon balancing. But this is just me being a worrywart. I'm well aware that the combat system for multiplayer will likely be very similar to the system for single-player, so there's likely plenty of opportunity to add in more features. At the same time, my mind would be put more at ease if they fixed some of the issues in MEAMP that are still glaringly present in ME3MP. Looking at you, netcode.
