Just finished this one: Love this universe, and am very happy this series is continuing. I think this is a 6 book series in the making, not sure about that though. I could absolutely recommend this as a solid read to everyone. Oh, it's out!?
Edit: There's also a comic set between the first and second series:

Yep! I had no idea it was even coming, much less out. I just fired up audible, to find something to read for a long drive, saw it and went 'fucking sold'. Bought it, read it entiely too fast, thoroughly enjoyed it, and am now kinda lost on what to read next.
I'm actually curious if he's going to make melee darcy gay or not in the following books. Thinking back, I can't remember if he had any other gay characters. Though I can't really say its something I noticed missing either, as we only really saw the love lives of John Geary, Tanja Desjani, and... the co-president (can't remember her name atm).
And yea I know, not big into comics myself. But, if I can find them, I might be interested in trying these out.
Yeah, I just checked the book out of my library. Doesn't look very long, but that's fine. One thing about Campbell seems to be he leaves a lot of features about his characters blank, open for reader interpretation I guess.
I mean, notice how rarely he even describes physical features for his characters. I mean, in the Lost Fleet series, the only character who's HAIR COLOR is described is Lieutenant "Shamrock" Jamenson, and it was GREEN due to genetic tinkering by her ancestors.

Just finished this.... Will start this next... so what about the adolescent ? It had some very good parts to it but he got carried away philosophizing at times. Like in many of his novels his 'hero' was a total dunder head. This time he had a bit of an excuse because he was quite young and you could understand his foolishness. Some good characters though. Worth the read for sure.

Re-reading Wuthering Heights... again.
My favourite book as a child, it definitely influenced my preference for screwed up relationship dynamics in fiction.
Hated every single tv/film adaptation I've seen so far.

Not really reading but relevant to reading. Some fan art of Shardplate+summoning Shardblade. Different take on it from the book art but pretty interesting in it's own right. (artist is Antti Hakosaari, taken from Sanderson's bookface, fyi)

just finished empire of bones. And...its not bad.
The narrator doesn't have a big range of voices. And has alot of trouble emoting those voices. So they are either always happy and up-beat, or calm. On top of that, everyone's too trusting. Makes me think they've never had their trust broken, or been backstabbed before.
Still, the writer was in the military, then worked at NASA before writing this book. And I can easily forgive those short comings, as it seems like this is someoen's first attempt at a novel. I did pick up the second one. Lets see how he improves.

So I am up to, actually almost finished with, the sixth book of the Honor Harrington series. This is probably the weakest book of the series for, there have been a couple of really good sub plots here and Honor still has a pretty grade A sense of humor but honestly...so far...it just seems like Weber does a lot of the same things book in and book out because again...AGAIN..Harrington gets her command shot to all hell.

One of the very few celeb deaths to move me. Poor Rincewind, he is at the bottom of fav characters for me, much more of a Watch / Witches girl. All time favourite is Small Gods though. *sigh* now I have to go find one to re-read.

Or I suppose after the trials she's faced the last two books it was a bit anti climactic to *only* get one ship shot to hell.

Definitely my favorite of the standalone books I've read so far. My favourite ones tend to be the socio/political ones, so Small Gods, Jingo, Nights Watch. The bottom of the barrel for me are the more direct real world analogue ones, so Soul Music (rock n roll), Moving Pictures (early hollywood) and Last Continent (australia). Still good, but not as good as the others. I recently got a co-workers 11 year old daughter into the Tiffany Aching books... I don't think he likes me much anymore

I'm about halfway through the entirety of The Chronicles of Narnia, afraid my attention span is losing it on the stories beyond Prince Caspian.
Trying to get into War for the Planet of the Apes but it's the same problem as above. So, when does The Winds of Winter release again?
