interesting tactic you accuse us of not paying attention but yet claim Disney has engaged in wholesale plagiarism of previous works. Have you seen Star Wars Episode VII: A New Hope 2: Hope Harder?

IMHO it seems more like people who defend this new sequel trilogy (and Rebels to a lesser extent) are victims of "moving the goalposts" and/or cognitive dissonance

I'm not talking about TLJ. I'm talking about Mickey Wars as a whole. People that were on board with Hope Harder or any of the other nonsense put out since April 2014, simply weren't paying attention. Or paid attention and weren't bothered by what they saw, right? (You can't actually mean what you just said there.) Of course there were those that weren't bothered. But how much sympathy do you have for those that weren't bothered then, but are now? "I told you so" feels so empty sometimes.

Is it really so weird that a person can enjoy both a "good" movie and a "bad" movie?

no goal post moving here. Yeah ... sure while I'm not sure what my standards are or how high they are. After all I do judge Star Wars differently then Fraiser or Rebels differently then Game of Thrones. However one of the main criticisms leveled against TLJ is its not light and silly but 'dark' and nihilistic.

I like Coq au vin and potato chips (crisps for the Brits here) (but not together). Liking one doesn't preclude liking the other.

But how much sympathy do you have for those that weren't bothered then, but are now? "I told you so" feels so empty sometimes. Oh, none at all. I don't even really understand how someone can get himself into that position, though I've seen it happen.

So she admits to being a feminist, but one that believes in equality, so not some crazy third wave feminist. Anyway, she says "I'm a Star Wars fan first and a feminist second." And that Star Wars shouldn't be that vehicle to promote a feminist agenda as it doesn't make a good movie.
The rest of her points are good too.

We already have so many movies that use the usual hollywood hero saves the day tropes. Its one of the reasons why Empire Strikes Back is so popular.

Its one of the reasons why Empire Strikes Back is so popular. First, just because something is done a lot doesn't make it bad. Heck, I'd say a particular trope is often used specifically because people DO like it. Different=/="good" Second, Empire Strikes Back works mainly because the villains are so powerful and the heroes are unprepared. Not because the heroes are either apathetic or idiots.
