Ironically, the prequels for all their flaws, were much more coherent and much less redundant. There was a point to the story. The prequels were a world building exercise (and a pretty poor one at that). There's no plot (or character development) worth mentioning in the prequels. In fact, they took away from the Darth Vader character and made him less memorable than the trilogy had. He began as a space Jesus Gary Stu, developed into a whiny teenager who sucks at romance, and ends up as a loser screaming a God-awful "NNOOOOOOOO". Good way to shit on one of the most kick ass villains of all time. The prequels would have bombed badly at the box office if they weren't riding on the Original Trilogy's coattails. Watching them is a good way to waste six hours of your life.

The only half decent Star Wars movie is the first one (possible Rogue One also. Haven't seen it). And even that one is full of character archtypes.

The prequels were a world building exercise (and a pretty poor one at that). There's no plot (or character development) worth mentioning in the prequels. And yet, they still managed to do world building better than the OT or the sequel films have yet, both of which provided a very poor sense of the universe outside the direct experience of the heroes, resulting in stories that feel strangely small and isolated. Partly because they insist on setting them in isolated locations. In the OT that was a sensible budget and effects related decision. The sequel trilogy doesn’t have that excuse, they just did it because the OT did it. The only exception is Canto Bight, but they somehow managed to make it visually boring.

Hayden Christansen and Jack Lloyd's versions of Anakin Skywalker is better than Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. I am not dissing Adam Driver or his abilities but He tries too hard to be an Emo Darth Vader Wannabe.

But isn't that the point, Kylo Ren is Ben Solo trying his hardest to be as bad as he can be, Vader bad, but tripping over his better nature, thus internal conflict, thus emo. Hayden Christansen got hit with the same 'bad acting' complaints for the prequels, 'Hayden comes across as a whiney brat, his acting sucks' ... no Anakin is a whiney brat, just like his son and grandson after him. If anything both actors nailed it.

He also is exactly what Lucas tried (and more-or-less failed) to with the Anakin character in episode 2 & 3; a protagonist/anti-hero who the audience loves to hate

If anything both actors nailed it. I remember some critic -- might have been one of the NY Magazine guys -- saying that Christensen's performance was one of the gutsiest in the history of cinema, because in a major starring role which would brand him forever, he was utterly indifferent as to what the audience would think of the character and, by extension, him.

Peöple actually think The Last Jedi was a goöd mövie? If yöu take öut the twö wörds "Star Wars" fröm the title it wöuld be a forgötten B mövie nö öne wöuld talk aböut. It is carried by its name and the möney in the budget alöne.

I was genuinely surprised when I found myself the only person I knew who hated TLJ. It wasn't until I went online that I found kindred spirits. I'm no longer surprised when I run into people who like TLJ. I've met plenty of them. I just don't understand them. Probably never will. And it's not as if I have a closed mind in regard to liking the Star Wars media. I love the prequels(about 50-50 split between nostalgia and genuine enjoyment), thought Rogue One was great, and I enjoyed Force Awakens. And though I found Clone Wars and Rebels to not be my cup of tea, I can at least see where folks can enjoy them. But TLJ was such a downturn in quality of both story and thematic consistency that it does boggle my mind how someone can love the previous films as much as I do, and not hate TLJ with the passion of 1000 suns. I had the same reaction to those who liked the original ME3 ending, so it's not as if I haven't gone through this before. I'll get over it, I'm sure. Still, I feel more and more like everyone I know has been paid good money to like TLJ, and it was me and a bunch of pissed-off Star Wars nerds on the internet that got left out.

When people say that they're surprised that other people liked TLJ, I never know if they're lying or if they're genuinely surprised. I don't think it's so much of a "What?" as a "Why?"
I mean, I know several people who liked TLJ, but I can't fathom what it is that made them like it. It strikes me as a movie specifically designed for people who hated the original trilogy.
