Why tarnish the fun of Star Wars Day with references to bad writing? We don't hav eto talk about TLJ if you don't want to People suddenly care about authentic hard science and only finest in characterization when it comes to the film, then cite mediocre, pedestrian work barely above the average soap opera as great writing. It calls their sensibilities into question. This was discussed ad nauseum in this thread after TLJ's release. Sorry to upset you.

I am afraid that I disagree, somewhat strongly. The Last Jedi is simply depressing. Luke Skywalker is not written in a way that is true to his character. Much of the action is forced, the main character is over-powered to the point of being unbelievable and the bits that are entertaining are more in the way of fan service than necessary. These days movies come in two varieties: Think pieces that are character driven and mindless entertainment with 'splody stuff. Last Jedi tries to span the two but fails with implausible action and characters that are made of whiny cardboard or unobtainium. Avengers has a plot, it has characters that are likeable and things get blown up real good. It's more fun and so is a better movie. It also had a villain that wasn't Emo An Ass Clown or Criminally underdeveloped And yes, all the Avengers and Guardians were written true to their characters. With one possible exception. Define what you mean by "Ass Clown." I agree Infinity War is a better film. But I like them both so what do I know. Cause wiping out half of each races population is pretty ass clownish to me and succeeding nonetheless. Are you referring to Star Lord? Thanos killed (maybe, possibly cause of the whole time stone thing) his girlfriend. So, it's a completely human reaction.

I did, which is why I responded with a definition. Because I specifically said Infinity War did NOT have an Ass Clown villain. And thus, the picture of Hux, who IS an Ass Clown.

What Thanos did wasn't despicable? It was horrific, but if you look at the definition again, that doesn't cover it. Hux is stupid and contemptible. A buffon. The butt of an unfunny joke. A clown, if you will.

So regarding Filoni’s new Resistance show. Apparently it’s going to take place in the years leading up to TFA. That actually could be interesting if they use it to flesh out the galaxy. Hell, they could even use it to feature unseen characters like the Knights of Ren.
My hope would be that after or shortly before Episode IX they cross the TFA and TLJ timeline and they can fill in that gap and use it to further Rey’s character development he same way TCW supplemented Anakin’s fall to the dark side.
Anyone else have any things you’d like to see the new show expand on?

More like Lenier when he tried to kill Sheridan. Lennier carried a torch for Delenn the entire series. Are you trying to tell me Luke had the hots for Ben's girlfriend?
I should also point out:
Lennier did not try to kill Sheridan, but failed to act when he saw him in danger. Sheridan did not turn evil as a result, did not join the Shadows, or slaughter the Rangers as a result Neither Sheridan nor Delenn seemed interested in retaliation or holding a grudge
Sorry for the delay on this but I wanted to take the time to respond somewhat properly. First of all while the legal jurisprudence is a bit...hinky...on those issues but I would not be the least bit surprised that a jury would convict Lenier for manslaughter at the very least if it were brought before a court. Regardless Lenier did something that was highly out of his normal character, something he immedietly regretted and tried to undo, and the result of which caused him to go into permenant self imposed exile. The only real difference is Sheridan did get himself out of the situation and saw Lenier come back to try and correct his mistake, but he misintreprted the action as him 'coming back to finish him off', so he even had a bit of a grudge against Lenier. But it was the immediete aftermath, the conversation between Sheridan and Delenn is, I feel, the most noteworthy. She explained that ocassionally people act out, their worse nature takes hold for one moment and it threatens to destroy them. Sounds familiar to me. Now I was sympathetic to Lenier, as I am to Luke. In my experience humans usually are capable of making horrible mistakes.

In my experience humans usually are capable of making horrible mistakes.
But as I pointed out, Lennier carried a torch for Delenn the entire five year run of the series. This was clear long, long before the event in question took place. And his betrayal was foreshadowed months earlier. His action (or inaction in this case) was clear in motivation and in his character
Luke, otoh, we haven't heard from in thirty years, and the last time we saw him, was willing to risk body and soul to REDEEM a man who had fallen to the Dark Side before Luke had even been born! His motivation is not only NOT in character, it's the exact OPPOSITE of what one would expect of him, given his past actions. If I were to put Luke on that island, it would be because, after redeeming Vader, he's have been certain he could redeem Ben as well, and FAILED. And now he's alone, trying to sort out what went wrong this time.
Also, in the "immediate aftermath" Lennier contacted Delenn, and said that while he needed to find a path to redemption, that they would "meet again". He didn't cut himself off from the galaxy, or spend the last years of his life hanging out on a beach waiting to die, he actively sought a way to expunge his shame (and I believe he did, dying in the Telepath War a few years later)

People suddenly care about authentic hard science and only finest in characterization when it comes to the film, then cite mediocre, pedestrian work barely above the average soap opera as great writing. It calls their sensibilities into question. This was discussed ad nauseum in this thread after TLJ's release. Sorry to upset you. Nope. People care about consistency. Both in science and characterization. Infinity War is not "Art", nor does it aspire to be. But it is Entertaining on a level TLJ failed to be. Flaws and all it's still better than the dogshit prequels. I also know where Lucas's echo chamber genius runs out of steam and I don't overinflate the source material of the original three films. I look forward to all the whiteknighting for Solo coming soon. I moved from cautiously optimistic to anticipating feces.
