Then share yöur opiniön sö we can debate whether she is ör isnt a Mary Sue. I have a feeling yöu dönt want tö because yöu knöw she is. No, because like you will stop at nothing to tell me that my opinion is wrong, even though it's a subjective thing, not objective. I won't have it. With the Star Wars fandom, debates don't exist anymore. There's only conflict... If yöu wönt even defend yöur opiniöns then höw can anyöne take yöur side ön this subject? I will pröbably challenge everything yöu bring up in yöur defense öf Rey nöt being a Mary Sue but at least yöu make yöur case. If öther peöple dönt hear yöur defense öf it all they will hear is my side and agree with me.

If debate was on the table we would have a thread full of interesting back and forth, we don't.

I think what was being said is that in this particular exchange, no arguments were being presented. Not that no one had presented them ever.

Told you guys the pressure was on Kathleen Kennedy. If only Andrew Andrew Waples had an imagination, he would have seen it too. If the 2nd half of that story correct, and the reason that "the fans" are turning on Kathleen Kennedy is that her movies are killing off the old crew to make way the for the new, along with the dumbass contemporary references of L3 and the Poe's phone message, then that's just idiotic. PS. When I heard that Han Solo was in TFA, I told everyone within earshot, "Well, Han's gonna die, because that's the only reason Harrison Ford would play him."

Rey knew how to fight, because she had to, in order to survive (Jakku isn't very friendly, ya know???). She knew how to operate complex machinery, because it was a way for her to have food (small portions) on the table. If none of that happened, she would have ended up as another corpse in the sands of Jakku not long after she was abandoned there. Her connection with the force was raw, and powerful. So what if she was able to communicate with the force, and defeat Kylo Ren in TFA? First off, he was badly wounded by Chewie's Bowcaster. Secondly (and this goes back to her survival on Jakku), she wanted to survive, so she used everything she learned on Jakku to fight back (instinct), or defend herself as much as possible, or she would have have been killed. There was also anger in her, possibly.
My favorite Star Wars character is Luke Skywalker. He knew how to fly a T-16. So, okay, he's a formidable pilot. However, I may not be an expert on the military, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have any combat pilot training before Yavin. Even though he didn't have any training, he was allowed to join the Rebels (even though his lack of military training would have made him a liability) and destroyed the Death Star using the force after little training. He had less Jedi training than Anakin, and he still became a powerful Jedi. All this, and yet I never complained. I didn't complain about Anakin destroying the Droid Control Ship. Why the heck am I going to complain about Rey? What, because she's a female? Absolutely not.
Now, I know that so many would disagree with this. This is just my opinion & my own interpretation. You do not have to see it my way, but my opinion is still as relevant as others here.

I may be abridging the general argument a bit, but that's it. That may be one part of it, but it is not the only part. I will keep this short because like everyone else here I'm a bit sick of the whole topic. A Mary Sue is someone who is perfect is every way, who everyone loves and whose 'flaws' aren't actual flaws. I've listed this in more detail up thread, but Rey fails 'perfect' many times. She freaks Luke out by going straight for the dark side, she is highly emotional, very quick to anger and is damaged/broken psychologically due to her abandonment (the rey/finn friendship intensity is a result of that damage). Someone who is that damaged and who the main OT character is actually scared of, doesn't scream 'perfect' to me.

If I were to say that the "Synthesis" Ending in Mass Effect 3 is great, I'm not wrong. It's not an incorrect answer opposite to some invisible fact. It's simple to say "I disagree, and here's my side of it."

Doesn't anyone understand that? So you admit that thinking Rey is a Mary-Sue is not only a valid opinion, but just as true as thinking she isn't a Mary-Sue?

So you admit that thinking Rey is a Mary-Sue is not only a valid opinion, but just as true as thinking she isn't a Mary-Sue? True isn't the right word. Truth pertains to fact. Saying that Rey is. or isn't (in my case) a "Mary Sue" (My God, I hate this term) is in the realm of opinion. If someone thinks thinks Rey is said term, then it's their opinion (even though it's annoying after seeing it thousands of times [no offense]). To me, she isn't a Mary Sue.

I think you're wrong. Because opinions can be right or wrong. Not everything is subjective, and people's opinions can be mistaken or poorly-informed. A racist might think that Barack Obama was a bad president because of his skin color. That opinion, though they have right to have it, is objectively wrong in my view. I doubt you think any differently. So what makes this opinion objectively wrong, and the thought that Rey is/isn't a Mary-Sue just something subjective, where right and wrong have no meaning?
