Looking at the (lack of) drop off at the box office between Sunday and Monday, it's very possible Rise of Skywalker has much longer "legs" than the Last Jedi. We know the Last Jedi did very well at the beginning but then, maybe because repeat viewing was down, box office revenue sharply fell. With the Rise of Skywalker though that may not be true. Will be interesting to see. China says hello.

the best review I watched. The First 2/3 criticism and the last 1/3 the positive parts. Good intentions, bad execution. Total soulless mess. "written by a 13 YO with ADHD" My feelings about the story/plot were summed up in the part where he said a woman they just met handed over a convenient plot device that she'd worked to get for years, and was her only was off the planet to woman that just beat her up and a man who betrayed her. Good thing, because it was their only way to save Chewie. How this type of thing happened constantly through the film, and that is seemed like they were making it up as they went.

Should Rise of Skywalker be my favorite Star Wars movie?
On the one hand the ligtsaber duel wasn't as emotionally sweeping as the Vader/ Luke duel (plus the Williams score) and the space battle wasn't as spectacular...
But on the other no Ewoks curb stomping a technologically superior force...

Rise of Skywalker just passed 500 million worldwide, let's see whether people will go back and rewatch it at the cinemas. If RoS matches TLJ at the box office, it will be clear that critics know nothing

Some people seriously need to chill out at the movies. In general too but also at the movies Star Wars fanatic has VERY public meltdown after ‘punching’ cinema-goer who checked phone during Rise Of The Skywalker
Footage shows the audience jeering as the irate viewer is escorted out of the screening room at a cinema in Vancouver, Canada.
It captures the aftermath of an alleged physical altercation involving the furious fan and another cinema-goer who took their phone out during the flick.
The alleged attacker is seen screaming in anger at the heckling crowd - who cheer as panicked cinema staff take him from the room.
Before he leaves, he screams: "I am a real Star Wars fan!
"I waited a goddamned year for this and some a**hole turned his phone on next to me.
"Use your f***ing heads … you’re f***ing losers with your phones!”
Cinema workers had to restart the film after the fight erupted just minutes into the screening, according to local media.
Joe Bond, the cinema goer who was allegedly attacked, told CTV News how he had gone to the movies with his wife to see the latest in the Star Wars saga.
He claimed he was texting the couple's babysitter who was minding their young kids when the film started.
Mr Bond added: "He lost it at me."www.thesun.co.uk/news/10618379/star-wars-rise-of-the-skywalker-fight-video/'I am a real Star Wars fan. Come at me bro, I will force throw you into the moon' is what I bet he wanted to say lol

For people who play on their phones or talk during a movie, there's a special place in hell for them.... so says Shepherd Book. I happen to agree with him, lol. It's damn annoying and rude.

For some reason, I have faith that if Abrams had the whole trilogy, it wouldn't be a trainwreck.
Now, no, I'm not saying it would have been good. TFA, while a decent movie on it's own, wasn't that original. But it wouldn't be this completely tits up.

The Viet Cong would like to have a word with you. The Viet Kong had weaponry equivalent to their adversaries like machine guns, mortars, light AA equipment, etc.
Yet there is no conventional engagement in which the US Army was defeated in Vietnam. Even the Tet offensive was a military success for the US. The Battle of Khe Sanh was indecisive at best. Battle of Ia Drang Valley, again, both sides claimed victory, but the North Vietnamese can only do so because the US left the field of battle after defeating them. Effectively, the northerners were the last ones standing on the battlefield because the other side wiped the floor with them (it seems like we can reliably say that they had double the dead that the US had casualties as a whole) and they decided to climb out of their tunnels after they left.
The Vietcong (and the People's Army of Vietnam - or the North Vietnamese Army, as they're often referred to) may have defeated the coalition forces, but it was not a military victory. The US decided to "vietnamize" the conflict after domestic political pressure.
On the other hand, how large, and how conventional is the engagement depicted on Endor? Yes, the Viet Cong would in fact like to have a word with you. Partially because the second Death Star was destroyed in large part due to a lightning raid and subterfuge, not conventional battle. It's reasonable to assume that were the Rebels to do that, they would end up about as well as the North Vietnamese at Ia Drang - with more than double the casualties, and only considering themselves victorious because whoever the hell was left climbed out of their holes after the Empire thought the mopping up was done and left the planet. Even WITH the ground raid (this is actually one of the more realistic portrayals of what SF would be doing when it comes to movies) the space battle was a clusterfuck where the Rebels nearly had their ass handed to them on a silver platter.
As an added bonus, it's Viet *C*ong even in Vietnamese, thus it's reasonable to say that is the correct way to write it outside of utilizing a phonetic alphabet to write the pronunciation, which appears to be the K sound (different from the letter K!) even in Vietnamese. However, the K sound appears to be somewhat different from it's English counterpart.

I don’t need a lecture about a war I know about. Also It’s called a typo from autocorrect.

Technology is not as important as how you use it, and whether you can secure the element of surprise.
Violence of action is the unrestricted use of speed, surprise, strength and aggression.
Speed: If you do what you need quickly, the chance of enemy retaliating effectively decreases. Surprise: If the enemy is not expecting what you are about to do, how can they counteract it? They can't. Strength: You need to overwhelm the enemy. Use as much strength as you possibly can. Aggression: Be aggressive. Keep the enemy off balance. Keep up the pressure. Do not let them gain the initiative.
In the example I'm used to - a slightly modified US Army Light Infantry squad (modified to the point where the AT4/M72 is replaced by an M3 MAAWS). You covertly approach the objective. You do light recon. You prepare your teams to do what is required to achieve the objective. When the fight starts, you order your Gustav gunner to target the most significant enemy asset. Their barracks, an armored vehicle... If you know you can get away with expending all your Gustav rounds, you tell him to keep that coming. You use all the strength you have. Simultaneously, the base of fire element keeps suppressing the enemy. The assault element will rapidly close with the objective - and ideally they are as close as possible before the whole thing goes loud - and do it. They won't stop to ask any questions when it starts, they will ask them before it starts. They will move as fast as they can without sacrificing their own security. Both teams will continue to aggressively do whatever is needed to fulfil the task provided, and then retreat, once again, as fast as possible, before the enemy can get reinforced.
Could I transfer all this to the Ewok's situation? In theory, absolutely. I use this example because I'm very familiar with it, and thus it was the easiest to use.

Now that's funny. But really: I've realized that Rey's actions were purely defensive, he was shooting lightning at him, she was deflecting it back at him. Purely defensive, no hate or anger or aggression, he kinda killed himself.

Well if the look on her face when Kylo dropped that particular bomb on her its SUPPOSED to be surprising. Though this does bring to mind: Could you imagine the conversation that would've happened had Ben survived till the end?
Ben: So now that I am back on the 'good' side can I continue to go by Kylo?
Leia: No son, your father named you that way and I think its best to honor his wishes.
Ben: Fine...but there is something I can't figure out: Why Ben?
Leia: *looks uncomfortable* Your father had a really odd sense of humor.
I don't care what people say Kylo>>>> Ben

After watching TLJ again along with TFA and now RoS, I've down rated TLJ from good to ok. They should have stuck with the same director and writers for the whole trilogy. Bringing in a different director screws up the flow of things.

Honestly its not that hard to do backloaded writing either with one director, or many or what have you. After all...from all indications...Lucas pretty much had no real idea what he was doing with Episodes 4-6 anyways. Maybe the broad strokes but several of the major story decisions happened as they went along. Likewise with the 'Sequel Trilogy'. Case in point: The whole 'Rey is a Palpetine' isn't that much of a retcon considering JJ kept it to where her parents still sold her to Unkar...so what Kylo said was still mostly true. It still fits...more or less.
