Easy big guy. They turn against you today, you turn against them tomorrow... it's just business. Am I wrong? Maybe.

A really different approach! It WILL happen. I am 99.99999% certain of it. Why? I'll tell you. The reason is simple marketing. Lucasfilm is targeting the younger demographic, specifically female Millennials. This is why the script for ep. 8 felt more like Twilight & less like Star Wars. It was by design The main type of audience member Disney is courting with the sequels is the same group who PAID to see 50 Shades & the re-boot of Ghostbusters. The same people who want every sitcom to devolve into a romantic comedy ("OMG, even though it wouldn't really make sense, I would love it if he would hook-up with her!!") Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be true

It is stupid and reckless but nöt selfish. Selfish means döing sömething önly för öne's self. Risking yöur life tö save peöple is the öppisate öf selfish. Sö göing tö Jaba's place tö save Han was selfish toö? He didnt finish his training yet. I cant believe we are even having this cönversatiön. It's all about Luke and what he wants rather than what will have the net positive effect on the galaxy. Well if you want to go by that sort of logic, the Rebellion forming to begin with goes against it. The Empire is a stable and mostly ordered militarized dictatorship, if you do not cross obvious lines, nothing bad will happen. Trillions of deaths could have been prevented if people were just willing to look at the broad picture and accept the reign of an immortal tyrant dictator.

The media did very little when the prequels actors were harassed and sent death threats. Now they seem to be active because Rian Johnson and the others are affected? Please where were their passionate defense when people who worked on the prequels been insulted? The prequels were in 2005 - completely different social media landscape. The media online now is much more reactive to everything. Apparently people aren't allowed to change over the course of a generation.

Apparently people aren't allowed to change over the course of a generation. I think this is what some, not all but some posters here seem to be running up against when it comes to parts of the sequels . The world has moved on, social and political mores have changed and they as viewers haven't.

Apparently people aren't allowed to change over the course of a generation. social and political mores have changed and they as viewers haven't. And I think that is where a lot of the fan vitriol comes from. The increasing politicization of their beloved franchise. For my two cents I am certainly no fan of it, but its like just one of six reasons why I don't support modern star wars though.

I don't see it as political so much as just making a film using the social standards of the time. Are you saying we should be making modern films using the social mores of the 1970's when it is 2018? I agree that people have various of other reasons to object to these films. I just don't think saying they have 2018 social standards is one of them when it is in fact 2018.

Parts of the media these days are just disgusting.

If making a film to the social standards of its time is political then the OT is political as it does the same thing, but I see people arguing here that the OT is most definitely not political, so which is it?

Is this argument STILL going on?! It never stopped Every time we seem to get away from the endless circle jerk that is TLJ, it comes right back around. At least the thread has good memes.

If making a film to the social standards of its time is political See just that we disagree in as well, I'd argue that they go far beyond just social standard. They want to push a political narrative with it.

Darth Vader VS The Juggernaut. Who would win? I'm tempted to just say Vader because... he's Vader But in all seriousness, could the Force just stop him in his tracks and end him then and there? If not then things may get interesting.

Solo was dogshit. Still better than many EU novels held in godlike reverence, however.
