If making a film to the social standards of its time is political then the OT is political as it does the same thing, but I see people arguing here that the OT is most definitely not political, so which is it? Who's mores? Are we all synchronized, in this time? Social standards of our time? Are you serious? You are serious. Fuck.

So yes, while individuals views vary, overall there is a general social standard. So to give the most obvious example, yes we have racist individuals inside of our society, the general social norms of modern culture (certainly where I live) is very much not racist and the laws reflect that. Are you trying to say that you don't believe that a general social standard is a thing?

Are you trying to say that you don't believe that a general social standard is a thing? I do, and I think you are off your rocker according to what you think is the modern norm. I also think, in this time of strong feelings, political tension, and media distrust, that to assume that there actually is a "standard" right now is absurd. Just because there are loud screeching voices demanding to be heard, noticed, and protected, does not mean that they represent anything close to society's norm or standard. Societies standard is not that white men have become overnight retards, while women and people of color have risen up to supplant them. That is the most racist, sexist shit I've ever heard. You can also see it in TLJ. That is not representing a standard, that is pushing a narrative. It is also shitty storytelling, and not a representation of any reality I want. Not my standard. Next?

I disagree that TLJ is pushing what you think it is and that is fine, it is just entertainment and we can view it differently. I think you have the wrong end of the stick but fine.

Yes, that is exactly what he does. He risks himself getting killed or captured and thus dooming the galaxy including his friends because his friends needs are more immediate in his eyes. He is putting his friends needs aböve his öwn. That is the cömplete öppisate öf selfish. Yöu all are pöinting öut recklessness. I can nöt dö this anymöre because it is driving me insane. Which is selfish. Period. It’s also against the Jedi Code.

What stage of Juggernaut are we talking about? Him with the full power of the gem or regular? Full power of the gem of course. Gotta give Vader some challenge. In that case Juggernaut most likely, unless Vader can find a way to hold him off until he runs out of energy. Until then though, none of Vader's attacks would work.

I take it you are a zen master, one with the universe, with total consciousness. Big tipper, the Lama...

Luke was never a proper Jedi apprentice, he was crash-course Daniel-san. There was no Temple. There were no other Jedi. There were no Holocrons. There was a little strange talking green man that could do some wizard shit. Nice try though.

This may be because you "know things", like Jedi lore, and prequel stuff. If you claim to know more about the Jedi, fantastic, hooray for you! Guess who you know more about the Jedi than? It isn't me you fluffy butterscotch... It is Luke in TESB! I will gladly watch it again. Serious question: what are you on?

From dialogue sprinkled throughout ESB and ROTJ I think the obvious intention by Yoda and Obi-Wan was for Luke to become a full Jedi Knight by the end of the trilogy. Yes, his training may have been a very spark notes version of training but A. he was trained in Jedi ideology. B. He was trained in Jedi techniques...so he was effective a Jedi padawan. Granted one who was being trained to do a very specific thing, defeat Vader.

Well, there's something we can agree on. Definitely no Temple in the OT. Luke also got the abbreviated version of training and even Yoda considered him too old to be a proper apprentice.

It should be noted that Luke's training takes place around six months. He wasn't there for just a day.

And the only things I look forward to concerning SW are: - the firing of KK; - the complete removal of Ruin Johnson and Chuck Wendig from any further interaction with the SW Universe; - an apology from JJ Abrams for his treating of the fans.

You mean Jake Skywalker is (Mickey) canon. Whether he should also be fired from a cannon is a separate topic As to the rest, meh. The damage is done, nothing short of a time machine will fix it. The comeuppance of a few individuals rings rather hollow, especially since I don't know them or are remotely near them, even in Internet terms. So even if I were the kind to enjoy their termination, I just can't be assed about it. What they do now is utterly irrelevant to me one way or another.
