I have a feeling people will gravitate towards classes in any case if we are restricted to 3 powers or what it is going to be. In many cases you are going to want at least two powers that complement each other for combos. In any case this is a good thing for most players, more freedom. But what are you going to do once you create a character, and here you are presented with a huge list of powers... will there at least be some sort of groupings or helpful color frames to show what goes well with what? Or if you select one, will it bring up a few other powers that will compliment it well as top picks? Will everyone just going to take stealth as one of their powers for extra escape, and the bestest shield/barrier stripper and the bestest armor stripper power? *´¨) ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•` ¤ Mass Effect Andromeda

They said the squadmates will be more important, even vital, this time, so I expect them to be more efficient and supportive. Hah, well, that would also be a first... at least in ME. I know. They mentioned how squadmates were basically meatshields and combo setters, and that it'll be different this time. Hopefully they're working well on implementing the AI of them.

Ha-ha, so long as they are not like in swtor after they rebuild them. It was like playing with a World Boss as your 'side-kick'. Depends on what build of swtor. In the early days, the only tactics a team with a sorcerer ever needed was "send Khem after the biggest thing, force storm everything, bubble as necessary."

I remember I've gotten a scratch, and Lana freaked out and healed me up for 10K in one go... Vette shot the whole spawn dead while my Sith Lord was mid-air still, leaping, leaping....

I thought they got better in ME3. Give Garrus or James (and presumably Ash, if you do that sort of thing) a good rifle, and they shred the enemy. Give them something broken, like the N7 Typhoon, and they'll complete the game for you. Javik was always on point with his biotics and gun work, as was Kaidan and his powers and gunplay. I thought the companions in ME3 were a step up from the previous efforts. It could just be because they put out better damage and setup far more combos, but that's fine. That's what teamwork is about.

The companions will probably be effective at Normal difficulty, but I can't see them doing much on Insanity beyond drawing a bit of fire. They shouldn't really - if they can operate on Insanity then the game can basically play itself.

They shouldn't really - if they can operate on Insanity then the game can basically play itself. Somewhat true, I guess. My comment above was based entirely upon my Insanity gameplay experience, in which Garrus and James could win the game for the player. I don't want my companions mowing down the hordes, "stealing kills" on Insanity; but I don't think they need to be useless, either. I think there are better ways to achieve increased difficulty than by having useless companions. If they have solid AI and tactics, they should be able to survive and contribute, at least defensively and with setting up power combos.

What I'm more bummed about is only having access to 3 powers at a given time. I'm still laughing at this. "Next generation RPG". Bioware have mercy, having to choose between whole 3 powers in combat is too traumatic for my brain. One power button, pls. And this even after the very, very common (and for good reason) complaining about DA:I's 8-skill limit. I mean, ME is different, but only 3? Come on... Even my Soldier had to use the radial menu for some powers. I hope we'll get at least 4 in the end, since the mapped powers in the video were for both bumpers separately and both bumpers at once - ME3 had the Y button instead (for xbox), so maybe it'll return, for a total of 4? ...Please? sigh. I'd have hoped they were over this weight bullshit. But I guess not. Not even going to pretend I wouldn't be modding it out immediately if I was actually playing this game. I, too, hoped they'd opt for something else, partly because the weight mechanic frankly makes no sense within the lore; all weapons have built-in ME fields that can negate a weapon's mass, not to mention ME1/2 didn't even have a weight mechanic But in terms of gameplay, I'm not too fussed. Should be interesting having individual cooldowns, at least.

The assault turret and the portable shield both have a dot, I don't see how these two can be "combo primers" though. :/ Due to a number or reasons: Turret is easily explainable. It fires a stream of fire, so that's clearly a primer. Shield requires some "imagination". Could be like the Hex shield from the Geth juggy in ME3MP that electrifies enemies that get too close. Or, could be that the marking system is not quite finished yet. Or simply that those markings represent something completely different and I'm wrong, heh. Actually (yes I'm quoting myself btw) I just saw the gameplay again, and indeed the deployable shield does give an electric discharge when folks get too close.

AR increases firing rate and reload speed, so a symbol with a volley of bullets would make sense.

Both Drack and Liam deserve Omni-Shields.
The melee strike from an Omni-Shield is similar to the motion of a Krogan's melee. Krogan bitch slapping foes with a burning shield. Picture that.
Liam is a cop. He needs his riot shield. Unlike Drack, Liam has a Cryo Shield. His duty as a police officer is to keep the peace and maintain order.
Drack is Krogan. His job is to f crap up. We'll give him the offense oriented Flame Shield.

Also in the trailer at 3:45 when the power is used small nodules are seen bouncing off the creature and then at 3:49 you can see small globes behind the creature that explode... 3 I believe.

They shouldn't really - if they can operate on Insanity then the game can basically play itself. My ME2 Insanity strategy heavily relied on companion powers, I hotkeyed 3-4 abilities for Shepard, and the rest were assigned for the companions. The companion powers are weaker but they are instant, no need to aim Warp or suffer Overload's animation which leaves you exposed to enemy fire, or you don't need to aim and wait for flashbangs, instead using Kasumi as an instant disabler.

1 is definitely called 'biotic aegis' - this has been confirmed. I don't think 4 is actually a grenade because there isn't a number shown to indicate how many are left. Adrenaline rush for 20? You could be right, I'll add it in. AR increases firing rate and reload speed, so a symbol with a volley of bullets would make sense. No number? My number 4 was the one with the three arrows arcing off to the right and in first post they have the number 7 out from them. Also in the trailer at 3:45 when the power is used small nodules are seen bouncing off the creature and then at 3:49 you can see small globes behind the creature that explode... 3 I believe. That power is fired from the gun with a recoil animation just like concussive shot in ME3. It is not thrown like grenades are. It does have a number though. 8 which is a lot more we have seen the grenade and even the mine skill at. I don't think what explode was what bouncing off the Fiend. The most visual one is right behind the Fiend's ass, has a blinking light and is conveniently placed between the Fiend and both Liam/Cora.
