Alec Ryder 'DadRyder' (Official Thread)

We already know dad is a bit of a renegade, so it wouldn't surprise me about the spoiler. Doesn't do anything to change my mind that I'll really like him in game.

Even if he was a antagonist, you really think BioWare would reveal that information?

What's abundantly clear is that Alec plays by his own rules and likely has his own agenda. Who knows what that is at this point in time, but I'm sure the Ryder family story arc will be dealing exactly with his history and motivations. That's not to say he's "bad," but I suspect he's gone to Andromeda for an entirely different reason other than just for the sake of exploration.

Indeed. I played around with the idea that Alec Ryder could be a Cerberus Operative, but there's still a lot we don't know about his character. He's definitely dabbled in some morally questionable activities. A lot of questions with not many answers at this point. What I do know is that if Cerberus is involved, a section of the fan base is going to have a meltdown.

I think they heard the criticism loud and clear that the entire fanbase is sick of Cerberus. The idea was cool, well expanded in ME2 but then massively overused in ME3 and comics to the point it overstayed its welcome.

I actually liked Cerberus as an organization, until Mac Walters decided to turn them into a Saturday morning cartoon villain in ME3. Thankfully, he's not writing anything in MEA, although he took over Casey Hudson's job as Creative Director. It's always possible there's another shady organization out there, but not sure BioWare wants to keep relying on similar storytelling they've done in the past.

His dabbling in AI, alone, makes Alec morally questionable. I also can't really see the Alliance being okay with one of their top soldiers deciding to go on a one-way trip to an entirely different galaxy. I doubt he had the Alliance's approval and perhaps they even revoked his N7 status.

I definitely agree that Cerberus was ruined in ME3. There's always a chance that perhaps BioWare wants to redeem the organization, as I think it's likely they'll have at least minimal involvement in MEA. Just Cora alone seems to suggest a connection.

To my knowledge, Alec's appearance is affected by customizing Scott and Sara.

I thought they said in a tweet that Cerberus wasn't involved with Andromeda. They were busy bringing Shepard back and concentrating on the right now to be involved in the initiative.

Mac, what did we talk about after ME3?! NO MORE CERBERUS.

Sadly, I actually liked TIM. Cerberus just became the linchpin in everything. And... I'm too afraid to bet because I could see them doing it. 

TIM is awesome. Martin Sheen was the perfect casting for the role. Mac Walters definitely ruined them by turning them into Space Nazis. On the bright side, he's not writing anything for MEA.

Agreed. I think that Alec could be connected to Cerberus due to his interest in "human advancement." Of course, it's also possible Cora is TIM's daughter. Either way, Cerberus is likely going to be present in some capacity. I doubt they'll be the focus, but I'm sure that will at least be a part of the story in some fashion.

I'm curious to see how this story is going to play out with us being the aliens. It seems the Angara are far more accepting of other species compared to the Khet.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things unfold.
