Awesome! I really should get back into finishing The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, but I'm neck deep in the Expanse series at the moment and I just can't start another series now... I'm this close to finishing Cibola Burn and I. Need. More... (also: bless the Maker for Kindle, since it means there's about 5 seconds between me buying a book and me reading it) I'm also working on the Expanse series! I'm in the middle of Caliban's War. I'm hoping that the rumors are true about Jemisin writing a Mass Effect tie in book. I'll need something to read come Christmas time to take my mind off of the wait for ME:A

Then just make a new science fiction franchise. Literally taking the Mass Effect out of the Mass Effect franchise is ridiculous. Luckilly there are ways they can do this without doing that, since Reaper and Collector ships use Mass Effect drives that have surpassed the limitations ours have so could make the trip. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> What exactly is Mass Effect to you? Element Zero? The Reapers? the Relays? If you read some of Bio's interviews, that is not what a Mass Effect game is to them. then why is the game called "Mass Effect"?

November 14th appears to be indicated.
They are still keeping quiet and will continue to do so I suspect for several weeks yet...

I've been 'trying' to find any information about the novel's release date and sales vendors. It appears, according to this blog post from Bioware in June, that there is no estimated date for the book's release as of this date. ------------------------- June 27, 2016 by BioWare This past weekend, information came out regarding our new series of Mass Effect novels from Titan Books. These novels will give us the opportunity to expand the Mass Effect universe and bring new stories to life outside of the games. Unfortunately, it’s still too early to go into more detail about the books or when they will be released. But don’t worry, we’ll have a proper announcement with all the juicy details at a later date. We are still in the midst of the creative process, but we are working with a talented group of writers to bring these exciting new stories to our fans. ------------------------ My big concern is that the novel will be available in a very limited supply and sold out in 24 hours, or so. I hope this won't happen.

Sofa, thanks for the link to the book at amazon.de The amazon.de book page has been up for several months now. I think the posted release date is a placeholder too. It doesn't make sense that a release date listed on amazon in Germany would precede an official announcement from BW by months in advance, esp. since the Mass Effect blog stated in June at E3 that the release date for the book would not be revealed until later in the year. I am very curious to see how well coordinated BW and Titan Books will announce the book's release, where they will announce it, where it will be available for purchase, and if there will be a significant supply in stock. I feel that BW Marketing needs to show they have their act together for this arm of the sales campaign.

I could not find anything on Mass Effect: Initiation on Amazon.com or Amazon.uk. What's wierd is that when I tried searching for it on the sites, it seemed to know it was a book. I'm a bit worried to be honest but I'm hoping this is due to a delay or something and not because the deal fell through or something else. I don't know if this is something that has happened with some of the other books Bioware has been involved with. On the other hand, I was rather amused to find that someone has made Andromeda flip flops using the promotional shots and trailer footage. Didn't look to bad, though, neither did the backbags.

The Mass Effect writer team must nail the answers to many questions. Why did we go to Andromeda? How did we get there? How long did it take? Where did the tech come from? Who gets there? Which Species and why? Who manufactured the ARKs? When did they leave? Was there any training? How many colonists? How were they recruited. Was the genophage cured? How many ARKs? What is their size? What can they carry? How many colonists per ARK? What is the ARKCON project? Who are the Pathfinders? Did an ARK with Pathfinder contingent leave first to establish a beach head? Is N7 Ryder's brother / father? The prequel is also supposed to focus on the main characters. Mass Effect: Andromeda is a human centric story. Perhaps there is some differences in focus between Jemisin and Bio regarding character development or maybe now that Jemisin is a Hugo award writer she wants more money. Or, maybe, the initial story outline in the prequel novel contains heavy spoilers or controversial canon text that Bio felt it needed to be "polished". We don't really know, but delaying the book because the game was delayed sounds fishy.

Given that the N7 was on the presumed placeholder cover, it is possible that it is him who is the center character of the book especially if he does have a major role in the game itself. The protagonist probably would not work since they're the player character. I could see some of the companion characters making appearances. I still want them fleshed out in the game as well, of course. I don't think delaying the book because of the game's delay is necessarily fish: if the delay made them decide to change some things to a certain degree then delaying the book might make sense if these changes affect the information in the book.

....delaying the book because the game was delayed sounds fishy. From my perspective, the book delay goes hand-in-hand with the game's delay. It makes sense. My assumption has been that around the time the game's delay was announced, BW was possibly cutting out some segments of the game that either needed more development time or were being shifted into DLCs for later releases, and this could have had an impact on the content of the prequel novel - either information that had to be cut or readjusted - which means delays for final editing, print production, and on and on and ..... Just thinkin'. I've scoured the internet (at least I think I have) all summer to find any information about the release of the prequel novel. The initial reports were that it would be released last month in August. The only mention I could find of it's 'delay' is in a note in BW's blog after the June E3 convention: June 27, 2016 by BioWare, here"This past weekend, information came out regarding our new series of Mass Effect novels from Titan Books... Unfortunately, it’s still too early to go into more detail about the books or when they will be released. But don’t worry, we’ll have a proper announcement with all the juicy details at a later date. We are still in the midst of the creative process, but we are working with a talented group of writers to bring these exciting new stories to our fans." I so wish that BW would more forthright and had not merely mentioned this little tid-bit in a small article on their 'blog' page. Though it's nice to see the 4K pre-alpha trailer recently at the Playstation 2016 reveal, and I do like it, I hate their information ' strategy' of: See if you can find us when we happen to mention something somewhere. It's just NOT a first-class operation; it's just fragmented and seemingly disorganized - and it is NOT fan-focused.

I gotta get myself another kindle and read this thing. The kindle I have now is like from 2002. Former Nook user who wishes they could go back. I mean, i still have it but my LG tablet's kinda outdid with everything. And books, i read on OverDrive via web so not a large loss. Seriously. I love books (like, actual, real books) but buying a Kindle is the best consumer decision I've made in the last decade. Absolutely zero regrets. I loved collecting books but there's something about just having a whole library with you, without it being strapped to your back, that's great (i'm lazy and notorious for reading multiple books at once).
