I would rather like to see her as a romance option, especially if you're going for a more Renegade playstyle.

I said this somewhere else, personally, I see her in the power hungry side, and if it turns out that she's some sort of freedom fighter then I¡m going to think they were deliberately misleading us with the way they presented her in the video where she's sitting on what for all intents and purposes is a throne, IMO. It's true that we know next to nothing and that I can perfectly imagine her having very good reasons to start a rebellion, but the throne scene seriously, if they weren't trying to make her look like a crime queen I can't imagine where were they going with that scene... And if she really is a crime queen, I'd only wished she isn't very similar to Arya (loved Arya, but for the sake of variety). She seems to be an interesting character, in any case

Altough they are making a new game with some sort of a soft reboot of the series, I don't see them playing so obvious (noAria, NoGrunt, NoGarrus...) Also, the Alliance and Nexus background are pretty different to Aria's past. I bet the big problem Nexus had it was some of the high profile people (Sloane included) discovered something going really wrong with the Nexus direction.

Well i already want to beat to a pulp the person who put someone with a problem with authority in charge of security. Hopefully she won't be like Aria and can instead be killed as alternative to placated. Don't want her as a LI personally as i found her completely unattractive based on the quick glimpse we had.

I haven't formed any opinion of her yet (hard to do with this little info), but if she is going to be some sort of leader (crime, mayor or freedom) I hope that we won't have to take "unnecessary" shit from her. I was always annoyed that Aria acted as she was the greatest (don't fuck with Aria huh ) and that I couldn't just crush her and her bodyguards.

I was replaying recently the scene when you meet her and for me is particularly annoying the way she talks to Shepard and the fact that you can only answer to "don't fuck with Arya" with "I like it, easy to remember" or "neither of us liked being jerked atound", both sounded a little too submissive, even for my mostly paragon canon Shepard Not that I need to kill everyone who talks to me like that, but at least an option to say something like "oh, please, save it" would have been nice Fortunately, for what we have already seen, it seems like we're not going to have that problem here

As I said in another thread I hope they are going to do something new with her because as the things stands currently I'm just seeing a thug I hope there is more behind that thugish attitude and she has some legit reason to do what she did other than "f. the authority". If that is the case I'm going to listen to her reason and point of view, if my early assumptions are confirmed then I'm going to bring her gang down should we get the chance. We are few already and we don't need troublemakers questioning the authority at this very early point of our colonization effort.

The way she pauses before the word "fuck" in that quote gave me an "ooh look at me, I'm going to use a bad word" vibe. I imagined that Shepard just grinned and played along. On topic: I don't know enough about Sloane Kelly to form an opinion. Like any other NPC though she better not annoy me too much.

I don't know about that, I always thought that just was the VA that hesitated, but your idea makes her just ridiculous. That said, I understand that she has a reputation and can't act "submissive". But when a (former) Spectre walks up to you armed and with two companions you SHOULD behave if you care about your wellbeing.

mass effect andromeda: nexus risingthis is the first i'm hearing of it, but apparently the mass effect andromeda novel is going to feature sloane! They slept for hundreds of years, dreaming of a new home in the Andromeda Galaxy. When finally they awake, their dreams of peace are shattered. These colonists—turian, salarian, asari, human, and more—face an uncharted galaxy and threats beyond understanding.
The Nexus is the core from which the colonists will explore their new home. Yet even before the arks arrive, the massive space station sustains critical damage. The entire mission is placed in jeopardy, and security director Sloane Kelly must reassert order while racing to identify the nature of the threat that faces them.
If she fails, the Andromeda Initiative could crumble. pretty cool! i guess we'll be learning abot what happens to her before ryder meets her. i only wish it was coming out a bit sooner.

I jotted down the new voice sample of Nexus Uprising, narrated by Fryda Wolff. It gives us some more info on Sloane Kelly's and Foster Allison's relationship and both women's characters and positions on the Nexus. “What the hell is that!?” Sloane didn't have an answer. The ship trembled and quaked all around them, heaving as if stretched in too many directions. They swayed, colliding into each other, before both women found their feet. The awesome shriek of metal tearing apart echoed through the corridors. Allison half ducked, throwing an arm over her head. Sloane had only just locked her stance down, preparing for a deeper roll, when the shifting stopped. Again, metal strained and groaned, rolling hollowly through the otherwise eerily hushed chamber. When it faded to nothing, they stared at each other in grim silence. For a long moment, nothing moved. Not them, not the ship. Sloane led out a breath she hadn't realised she was holding. “No follow-up,” she said, “that's good. Or at least, it isn't bad.” “Another explosion!?” “Doubtful.” “How can you be sure?” Sloane braced a hand against a tilted column and studied the bulk head above them, half expecting it to suddenly crack and fall. What a way to go. “'Cause it didn't feel like one,” she said flatly. “Whatever this is, it's affecting the whole ship. Like... like an earthquake.” “An earthquake in space? Now who's being sarcastic,” Sloane retorted. “I figured I'd meet you on your level,” Allison muttered, more than a little superiority in the [?] jibe. That earned her a hard glare. “All I'm saying,” Sloane said, dredging up her failing reserve of patience “is that none of my under-attack-bones are twitching, and that jives with what a technician postulated on my way here.” Much to Sloane's dismay, in some ways, an attack was easier to handle. Protect the station. Kill the intruders. “Who!?” “T'Von, I think. Asari.” Allison's eyes widened. “She's alright!?” The hope in that sentence, the fact that it ended on a question, was enough to kick an ache in Sloane's conscience. Wordlessly, she shook her head. Crestfallen, Allison seemed to deflate, withdrawing a little more from Sloane. “She was one of the science team.” “Yeah...”

nice!! thank you so much for this. i don't think sloane will turn out to be as brash as she first comes across. I actually find her quite sympathetic in that excerpt, moreso than Allison to be honest. It's not the best writing ever, but having that sort of background info will keep me from judging anyone too quickly and will make me reconsider my actions in the game, so I'm pretty sure I'll buy the book.

Everyone kept saying back in December that she was the new Aria or some pirate queen but I felt she was more of a rebel leader. I'm thinking she uncovers something unsavoury about the AI and tries to do something about it.

nice!! thank you so much for this. i don't think sloane will turn out to be as brash as she first comes across. I actually find her quite sympathetic in that excerpt, moreso than Allison to be honest. It's not the best writing ever, but having that sort of background info will keep me from judging anyone too quickly and will make me reconsider my actions in the game, so I'm pretty sure I'll buy the book. oooh definitely. i've never bought companion books for bioware books before, but these characters have me intrigued enough to do it. especially sloane. i'd love to know the vents that bring to where she is when we meet her.

I hope we get new information about Sloane, but with the game coming out soon I doubt it. I don't think she'll be anything like Aria. I think the gameplay video she was seen in, didn't tell the whole story. I think it could turn out like you said. She uncovered something about the Andromeda Initiative.
