It's kind of nice they know and like each other in RL.  Brings a warmth as they talk to each other.

I actually recall that, usually, most VA working on bioware games (plus in general in the industry) doesn't actually have the footage as reference for when they work. If I remember right it was also a complain made by the VA in the strike.
I don't know if it was different for the MC VA, but it's not really a sign of the project being mismanaged. It's how the industry generally works.

Hu no. It is  done as it should be if BW cares for an efficient workflow, which they obviously do. Voice acting is ALWAYS recorded before the animation, either in animated movies or games. The few scenes where VA actually have visual prompts are when these scenes are retakes (either they need additional dialogues that wasn't originally intended, or they decide at some point the tone doesn't fit the narrative they want to convey in the end and need to redo it). When the media show voice actors working with visual prompt, it's just PR bullshit. 

Edit: This the case for games where we can see the protagonist and acting and lip-sync is important. Shmups and the likes can have whatever ingame sound design and eventual voice recording made whenever it's more convenient, of course...

Whatever the process of recordning vs building the game is like, I bet I would be disappointed as Tom or Fryda to see that poor facial animation in the TGA reveal.
