I doubt we will get a light saber. IE a plasma blade which only emits heat when it cuts. More along the lines of a regular metal blade which either emits electricity or plasma charges based on its striking. Like a Darksaber.

Honestly, the only reason I allow the ninja swords in ME3 multiplayer to fly is because I assume that the majority of advanced gun factories have been demolished by reapers, or their supply chains are somehow messed up reapers, so they have to revert to swords (and become excellent like ninjas with those swords)
I really do not want more swords in Andromeda.

Actually, that was the principle behind the prothean particle rifle, since it was designed to be a weapon soldiers could use without worrying about running out of ammo. As for the sword, the phantoms do use a ranged weapon. With that, their biotic shield ability and the sword that does make them a bit more formidable than scimitar guy from Indiana Jones. |
