You know it took me about 15 seconds to realise you were talking guns, not that the gun talked. I now want a gun that talks.

As long as we are talking about really cool weapons which might be good in Andromeda from other franchises or real life, try the Force Lance:

Although there probably will be swords, I'd rather there wasn't. It never made sense for a setting where high powered firearms exist, but god powers like the Force do not. Firearms made swords obsolete by the 19th Century, if not earlier.

Swords and other melee weapons make perfect sense in the Mass Effect franchise for one simple reason: kinetic barriers. The lore states that kinetic barriers are designed to stop only fast moving objects to avoid complications like sending a chair flying when trying to sit down. Firearms have to wear the kinetic barriers down before actually puncturing through and hitting the target, whereas melee weapons move slow enough that they can slip right through. Then depending on the weapon it can cut through the armor and hit the target or use blunt force to do the same.

This is what should happen to anyone who brings a sword to a gunfight: If the clown had any sense, he would've thrown his sword at Jones instead of doing his pathetic sword dance thing. Wouldn't help, but still For an interrupt, my Shepard would use the omniblade saying en garde. hahahaha.

Lightsabers, I would say not likely. Sword you can see used in the latest gameplay trailer. Ayyyy lmaoing at blade not aligning with handle. Seriously, what is that icon? Go emo power? Edit: About OP; As some have already stated we have mono-molecular blades and omniblades already so we're set in that regard.

Wrong IP. You might wanna try something called Star Wars. And we have melee weapons, theyre called omni blades. Please don't get me started on Omni-Blades, because as much as I love ME... Omni-Blades look plain down silly for me.

Sadly no lightsabers but there will be swords. I'm excited about this.
Really though I wish Bioware would just make KOTOR 3 already! Just imagine how good it could be. If they do make KOTOR 3 one day I hope it would have two different storylines - Jedi and Sith. And that halfway through the game you could change your allegiance if you wanted or stay loyal. Both Revan and the Exile started as Jedi... would be nice to play someone who was born to be Sith.

My hope is for a Revan's costume.
And a sharpened helicopter blade, of course. That goes without saying.

Light Saber sounds good.
As in a carbine variant of the rather heavy rifle.
Right?

Lightsabers are just terrible weapons. The only thing that make them effective (in the SW universe) is that they are being used by sorcerers called Jedi. If you are an average Joe and go in a battle with a lightsaber the first trained soldier with a gun will most likely put you down, if you don't end up cutting yourself to pieces while using it.
Just no.

Actually, a case can be made that melee weapons are quite useful in the Mass Effect universe. The primary defense a soldier has is their shields which work based on the velocity of the projectile that is fired. Melee weapons then would bypass the shields entirely.
