yeah the hairstyles are pretty weak in that game it's one of the reasons why I too to using mods on it but then luckily being on PC I could. I think MEA will be better though as I quite like Sara's hair and it's definitely a style I may use on her eventually although not with that face. Idk, this is actually a pretty good default female face. I may actually just use it. And I'll definitely keep the hairstyle unless there is one that just really jumps out at me. I tend to stick with buns and ponytails for ME games as I feel the characters are more military than say DA games where you can be a wizard and don't need to worry about your hair in combat scenarios. Normally, I go far away from the default faces. But I like this one. I could see her being a sarcastic engineer (what I plan on playing). the fqace just looks a bit too cartoony for my personsl taste. The model they used for Sara is quiet pretty so I'm not criticising that. I think it's just I don't think her face translated into the engine that well. I like the idea of the sarcastic engineer though I was thinking of going the same way with my Ryder except as a biotic in my case as I was going to be an Adept for my first run. I'd like to see how the Kett deal with my Singularities and shockwaves

if there isn't a CCC we riot. Quick grab your torches and pitchforks we march. ugh. That's going to be a negative when i go review the game. Not sure it'll cost it a tier though.

All jokes aside this games already facing an uphill battle trying to regain the disgruntled fanbase that abandoned the Franchise after ME3.I'm honestly among them but I'm willing to give it another chance but I'm going in pretty lukewarm to be honest the best I can say is I'm cautiously optimistic but I am hoping it will be great but at this point I just dont know.

That's a hard question to answer because I think they're a mix of both in that as a pathfinder they're civilian but have militaristic skills available to them if they need it. As a pathfinder they'er part scientist part diplomat part soldier but not full on soldier like what Shepard was. Have you seen the trailers? It's not exactly clear but I think we're kind of playing an explorer of sorts that can end up in a few rough situations where combat is required but isn't a full on soldier like Shep was.

Because of this I get called a fanboy or naive however I'd rather give it a fair try and be excited rather than pick apart every piece of information and hope it fails so I'm not disappointed or surprised if/when it does. I honestly feel bad for people like that. How awful it must be to not get excited or optimistic about things for fear of getting hurt is really kind of sad. But maybe that's just me being naive. Lol.

All I know is that she can't look anything like my Shepard. That's it. My canon DA worldstate is currently populated with 3 pale green-eyed brunettes Which wasn't on purpose! This is a bit out of the blue comment, but one of the things I look forward the most when a new game hits, are those "Share your character" threads where people post the screenies of their chars. I dunno why, but that always fascinates me. character creators are fun! mostly in other people's hands, lol. I'm looking forward to that thread too, especially if the CC is good! Speaking of that, I wonder if they're going to make it easy for people to share their CC settings. I know that in ME you could easily with the CC code. It would be cool if we could have something similar in MEA. They better. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's regression; I hate it when features are removed in subsequent games. I know they're using a new engine, but that just means they might have to innovate a little. I'd go as far as saying it should be standard in any game with a CC to have a way to save/share your character's looks. Speaking of that, I wonder if they're going to make it easy for people to share their CC settings. I know that in ME you could easily with the CC code. It would be cool if we could have something similar in MEA. Well I believe its already been confirmed that CC Codes are impossible with the Frostbite Engine so thats not an option. Impossible Definitely not. You know why? Because DA:I does have facecodes, they're just much longer and more complex than ME ones... and invisible. Otherwise the game wouldn't be able to save faces, which it can (like applying it to Envy appearing as you). Don't be fooled by the new grids, they still have coordinates, just a lot more than before. If you trawl through the game files, you will run into some way your character's face is saved (otherwise PC players couldn't share saves, which I believe they can). It wouldn't make logical sense otherwise. All they need to do is let us see it, or a simplified version of it, and let us input codes. Facecodes are certainly possible, and at the very least, they should let us save a face as a preset to use later (though we couldn't share them unless on PC ).

Hopefully we get some more nuggets of info soon. We'll see what the CC has in store anyway.

So I'm really trying to separate my Ryder from my Shepard. Shepard, in my game, was a methodical Soldier-type. A reserved leader who carefully weighed his options, only occasionally allowing himself to be motivated by emotion or anger.
I'm going to try and make Ryder more of a kid. A brash leader, who's heart is in the right place... but who makes plenty of mistakes and has a tendency of jumping in head-first, without looking at the whole picture. Gonna try and use a class that more resembles that too, so... Either Vanguard, or Sentinel. My Shepard was always a soldier so I want to do something totally different this time.

Have some heat of the moment "knee jerk reactions" with an appropriate amount of snark (the one thing that I liked about DA2 was snarky Hawke). That's a great idea since he'll be a much younger and less experienced character. Not sure how I'll differentiate him from my Sarah. I always try to do at least one female playthrough to see how the game is different for her and access a romance that the male PC doesn't have access to. I always say that I'm going to make her renegade, but I'm just too Lawful Good in real life to play that way. Maybe Sarah will be the one? Badass sister; Snark-fest brother?

Same, the things that I like about bioware games before and after release, are people characters and the LIs speculation. I think you can learn a lot about character creation from other people, what you can try to do, to improve yours or do something totally new. I was always meh about self-inserts for example and stereotypical beautiful characters but now I think that has its place too.

I've got some ideas in mind of what I'd like to do but it all depends on the CC and the options it gives us.

I have issues going full Renegade myself... Stupid Lawful Good conscience. *sigh* Aaaaanyway, I'm really starting to think I'm gonna go Sentinel with my first Ryder playthrough. Kind of tailor him toward being a frontline utilitarian brawler. Someone who takes more chances than my Shepard did, who spent most of his time hunkered down behind barrels and oddly convenient chest-high walls. I'm a weirdo and like my class to mirror my character and vice/versa.

Sounds like a good plan! I was actually thinking of going full Engineer with my Scott. It feels more in line with rookie (it's easy to be skilled techie without being a veteran soldier). And that will also allow me to see how I want to play Sarah. Obviously, she'll skew biotic. This was a great thought exercise! Now I feel like I have a plan for my initial playthrough(s)! Thanks!

the fqace just looks a bit too cartoony for my personsl taste. I'd like to see how the Kett deal with my Singularities and shockwaves I'm curious is Ryder Military or Civilian? If they are Military then the limited hair options make sense I guess but if Ryder is Civilian then theres no damn excuse for shitty options. I was wondering that myself. Obviously Dad was Alliance military at some point, but maybe he retired to join AI. He might still be allowed to wear it as a retiree, but in real life that's usually reserved for ceremonial events. The kids...maybe they went to a military academy or served for a short time or were serving just up to the point of the Ai. SInce they supposedly have some sort of science or tech background, I'd say that have at least a four-year degree. They're young, so the only way I can see them having background like that is to go to the academy. Not sure if they have any actual combat experience. Also, the young, inexperience kid inherits the Pathfinder role, rather than it going to a more experienced officer. I think that has something to do with SAM and maybe having to pass that implant/skill/ability to a genetic progeny.

I was wondering has it been confirmed that Our Squad/Crew will use the names Scott & Sarah or are we back to just being called Ryder?

For my first playthrough I'll be playing as Scott. Normally I change the name, but if some lines are pre-recorded with the default name I'll stick with it.
I'm undecided on his appearance... Again, I normally customize the hell out of my characters in RPGs... But in ME the customization options were terrible(especially for guys!), and the non-CC-built default face was better than anything you could make with the CC. If the CC is good though I will be making Scott a redhead.
For class, I'll probably focus on Sentinel, as I'm really enjoying it in my current ME trilogy playthrough. I'm not the best at FPS games, so having powers that don't require great aiming is a must!
Personality wise, he'll be a goody goody -- doing the right thing, being respectful, kind, and charming. I'd like to play him as calm and intelligent, rather than brash and hotheaded. He'll occasionally be sarcastic, but I'm saving my snark-run for Sara... Frydda Wolff sounds like she will nail the sarcasm.
Oh, and he'll be gay.

Yes, now and then someone will refer to your Scott/Sara by their default name. And I'm guessing, sometimes they'll use Ryder. It may depend on how close you are to an NPC.

My female ryder will not be named Sara as I'm not too big on that name.
She'll probably be named Skye.
Skye Ryder.

I might use default, it depends on options in CC. Name is either Kierro or Kyle Ryder, Kyle because of Kyle Reese Personality will be a smartass (like me) or close to it. However, depending on situation he'll be serious, like if someone died or a colony was wipedout. Everything else he'll joke about. Kyle/Kierro will be a Vanguard, because it's the closes to a battlemage as I can get. Romance? It's not important, but I guess it depends on character. I can romance either M/F. If Vetra's available, I'll try wooing her, otherwise I want to explore the game.

Wow that sucks so if your character has another name during those Scenes it'll be just Ryder.
