Hate the idea of solos. Only ever tried 4 and completed all of them. One bronze back in the day (I genuinely thought I was 1337 back then until I got to BSN and realised people had soloed gold). One to prove I could solo gold, another inadvertently when the AIU was released, just to get a feel for the character, and another (also inadvertently) when I was trying out a new build for the Hunter.

I never did it for the challenge. Well, not really - gold was a bit of a challenge maybe. I rather picked a character and made up a story around why he would headbutt geth in the rain. Or get Hattori Hannah extracted from Vancouver. The atmosphere is just different in solos. And of course I did it to explore new maps so I wouldn't suck. A fallacy, really: The first thing I did in MP was trying to solo bronze reapers Reactor - I quickly decided to rather suck than trying to beat it.

Day 3, attempt 4: Giant/Reapers TSent Arc Pistol/Falcon Survivor loadout, Pistol Amp III, Incendiary IV, Cyclonic IV Wave 7 fail because I forgot Geth Scanner, ran face first into a turret and then got sporked by the phantom crouched on my dead body. Time: 47:15 Lesson of the day: Geth Scanner, don't leave home without it. Actually this felt much less terrible than yesterday. Objectives were devices (had to kite twice from #4 and finished with 8 seconds to spare, whew!) and center hack, which was a piece of cake with all those slow moving units (only had to kite once). I actually had 4 gels, 5 ops packs (did use 4) and all my rockets and thermal clips at the time of death. I even got 3WS and I'd never gotten past W6 before. So, progress, I guess!

A few more notes that I forgot to add yesterday: Objective waves: You need to be even more patient than on other waves. You see the timer and you instantly go into overdrive - no, your first job is to take a breath and calmly think about the situation. The most important skill for objective waves is leading the enemies. If you have to operate in one part of the map, go to the other and hold it until most enemies bunch up there, then sprint back and do the stuff in relative peace. If you have hack for example, try to stay for a third or so in, then kite away, then another third and so on. Once again, patience and calm, deliberate action is key. Yes you have timers, but it's a lot more time than you think, so chill. Target switching on Platinum is severely limited. IIRTC, it's possible only on Collectors 3(which is unnecessary, since it's Brutes) and Derpshit 6 or Reapers 6, but I's rather keep the missile. Most hacks can be glitched, so do that. Pizza is easiest pnce you learn to pizza-run. Devices are a PITA on most maps. Leading the enemy away and positioning yourself in the most protected angle is essential. Nuking pattern: Some waves benefit greatly form nuking the first spawn or two (aim for at least 4 enemies with 2 big bosses or 5 with at least one). Since you seem to lean towards Reapers, I'd nuke 5, 7 and 8 and try to have at least 2 missiles for 10 (3 is better) - one for emergencies and one for post objective cleanup. Some people like to nuke 4 , cause of the Prime and the phantoms, I'd skip it on Giant/White. 5 has 2 Banshees and a higher budget, so taking a chunk out of that budget in the beginning shortens the overall time and requires less mental effort on your part to keep your focus for longer. 7 is somewhat difficult with turrets and a Banshee + phantoms pushing you, so if you can, begin with another nuke. 8 is one of the most difficult Reaper waves, with 1 Atlas, 2 Banshees and the rest Marauders with Phaeston 9000 and phantrolls with palm blasters of doom, so I do my best to catch a big spawn and even two here with a missile. Wave 9 is a cake walk with Geth Scanner and a reasonable way of dealing with phantoms. Also, Giant is easier for kiting, but White is easier for spawn nuking, so you might wanna take that into consideration. If you go for Reapers, figure out a way to 1)Stop Banshees fast and 2)kill Banshees fast. Doing damage to their armor bars (so, first, quickly dropping their barrier) tend to do the trick for the first and a powerful weapon is good for the second. Incendiary glitch is also good for Reapers, with all that armor. Once they've stopped, aim for headshots (unless you are using stuff like Venom or Scorpion). As far as kits go, HSent and TSent are both good, durable kits, put at least 4 ranks into Tech armor for 40% DR and at least 4 in Fitness (you can even go for 6 on the HSent for a 46646 build). HSent has a dodge, which is also to be taken into consideration. I'd once again recommend SI with Talon or a sniper rifle, it has a lot of power with Cloak and Proxy Mine and a lot of survivability with Energy Drain. Thanks! I kept your advice in mind today and got through 2 objectives successfully. Devices were straightforward apart from the last one. I hate to do it, but I wonder if I should mod objectives to not give me targets. At this point I think I might rage quit if I get them again. I'm happy to do hacking, escort or devices and am reatively ok with pizza running, though I have a tendency to run blindly into a group of mooks and drop the pizza (or just drop). I'm terribad at spawn nuking. Usually I get out the trusty rocket launcher, run face first into a spawn and die. For me it's probably less risky to tack on another hour of kiting rather than trying to speed things up. I'm most likely to hasten my own demise otherwise. My TSent isn't specced for soloing atm (has Warp 4 detonate, for example). Right now he's 66563.

Never deliberately tried a plat solo myself. I hate soloing - not in the spirit of the game if you ask me.
I've had hosts bail wave 1 and I managed to get to wave 8 before another pug joined - but my consumables were running out by then. I found it took forever to re-establish RHA every time I was flanked/pushed.
Good luck!

I've never successfully solo'd Platinum. I am confident I could do it given enough time and concentration but like patrickbateman said, when it stops being fun you have to consider whether this is an arbitrary challenge that you care enough to do. FWIW my most successful attempts were White vs. Cerberus Asari Justicar Adept with Venom (and Hurricane?) Cyclonics, Warp Ammo, Shotgun Rail Amp, and Armored Compartments Full credit to @thetechnoturian for the advice on this set-up. She also has a video on her YouTube channel that you can watch for tips. The Armored Compartments are so you can nuke the double Atlases when it makes sense. Venom lets you trivialize Phantoms and Goons... not to mention you can repeatedly stagger them with Reave or blow them up when they step into your Biotic Sphere. I also sometimes took the Hurricane because wearing down an Atlas or Prime with just the Venom is annoying to me. But, the Hurricane does slightly worsen your cooldown, so once you git gud you probably don't need it. The best I've ever done with this setup is to get to Wave 10, but got Devices as the objective and just couldn't handle it. Very frustrating. Anyway that's my advice for what it's worth.

Hi Shinobu, I am late to the party and the Tsent is a great kit ... and if you are close with that I won't divert you ... but, I recommend to give the GI a spin. It has everything. For a start, you wont't be able to leave your Geth Scanner home. You actually get the best scanner there is (with HM-6A) and you can freely use gears, AC, Stronghold, etc. You get speed, you get cloak, you get proxy mine damage and debuf. Venue: Giant vs Cerberus with GPS or GPS+Hurricane ( build) GPS staggers every mook, relegates phantoms to husk category. GPS also gives aim assist and geth damage bonus. Single charged shot or shot+proxy mine stops the banshee. You can go with GPS only, or with Hurricane sidearm to speed up Atlas takedowns. note: reload cancel is needed for the GPS.

Most of the high-level advice (i.e., white/giant and geth scanner) has already been given so here's some quick tip quickies for soloing and some advice that you may already know, but just in case (all the spoilers contain large gifs): + For w10 targets versus reapers, would recommend not to nuke two banshees at once. Rather, kill one so that you don't get a double respawn somewhere else on the map. If banshees spawn somewhere on the map alone, with no other enemies around, they're much easier than if they are in close proximity to one another. + Hack-glitching, for maximum "clever use of (broken) gameplay mechanics". + Fat Turians should use the environment to dodge incoming projectiles by snapping in and out of hard cover. The results can be quite glorious. + The ramp closest to the LZ that leads down to the lower area of giant has glitched areas with no collision, i.e., missiles shot may end up going right through the map without exploding. It's safest not to use missiles on this ramp. + I think this is fairly well known in the community, but in case you aren't aware, 1 second ops packs immunity can save you from both Brutes and Phantom syncs. You also have a short window of immunity after you gel. Brutes (this contains BOTH revive immunity and ops packs immunity. If link didn't work it's at the 24 minute mark. clearly I was having brute problems that day) Phantoms - ops pack immunity Of course, the fat turian can also use tech armor to stagger her out of the animation. + This is a thing that happens. If you leave them like this they'll usually either fall down or get raptured/beamed up into the skies. + and to close it out, sometimes doing this on Wave 1 is highly recommended in some instances, because it can be very cathartic: Would not recommend continuing with the solo however for obvious reasons Edit: + Also, forgot to add one other thing that few people do; when you strip Atlas shields and they're down to armor, shoot them in the crotch. Once you deal enough damage the crotch plate breaks off and they stagger.

Hi, All. Sorry no update yesterday. I had a blinding headache and went to bed at 4pm. (Even missed the CES video -- saw it this morning. Combat looked very MP-ish, I hope the squaddie AI is up to it.) I thought about making an attempt for continuity's sake but gave up on that because it would just have been a waste. Either I go in to win or not at all. I'll try to make two attempts later today to make up for it.

I don't hate solos, I just suck at it. I also tend to lose focus. I have never even attempted platinum solo. I want to but I first want to do a sub 35 min solo before I attempt platinum. Preferably with kit that is not Huntress, Collector adept and against Cerberus and without cyclonics. Failed there too a few times. Else I think I am not ready for platinum. Wish you succed and then I can try. . About TechnoTurian's solos. She is constantly in red (no shield) , heads hitting with disciple and laugh at phantoms. She ain't human.

I trust him to take good care of me! How about Huntress? She got warpcheese, tactical cheat and Dark channel for sneaky phantoms. And dodge. . Only kit I can easily gold solo against collectors and with some caution Cerberus. TSent is great, but with him I am permascared of sneaky phantom or bansheee. Edit: actually this was question for verterans here if I wanted to try. I like her bettter than any other kit. Build, setup, tactics would be welcome.

Huntress is a powerhouse but her low base shields (and slower recharge given cloaking) makes her fragile. Even with Cyclonics IV.
That said being able to kill something with Dark Channel alone is pretty boss.
