Ha ha ha! My fastest gold solo was 76 minutes! You should definitely be ready to solo Plat! I am stubbornly aggressive, and I have refused thus far, until this thread really, to actually study a map and wave budget and make a little bit of a strategy. My gameplay has been forged by off-host pugging, which makes me a bit ignorant/forgetful of some on-host advantages and disadvantages. I am now not sure which kit I want to take. Ravagers and Atlas are an issue for Reegar Kroguard. I have Wave 10 failed at 46 minutes. I have been on the precipice many times. Boo hoo for me, I know... I feel like we will both do this, I think for me I have to slow down. Might be time for José, the Mezcal drinking Salarian Infiltrator, with a Venom and Valiant, against Cerberus... On glorious Giant. I will report within 3 hours, or send a rescue team. I'm timid and panicky, so I have the opposite problem! I also haven't studied the wave budget very carefully. I looked at it today and said "Wait, how many waves have phantoms? Why did I choose Reapers again?!" My strategy is run, run, run until they or I am dead. It's not fancy, and it doesn't work that well, but at least it's easy to remember. I also respecced today to take damage on Warp 4 instead of detonate. Did not really notice a difference, but I only got 75 extra damage per warp ball. I considered taking headshots in passives, but as I rarely get 20 per match I didn't. Where are you, Qui Gon? It's been 5 hours!

Day 7 Attempt 7: Giant/Reapers TSent Arc Pistol/Falcon Geth Scanner, Pistol Amp III, Incendiary IV, Cyclonic IV Wave 10 fail because I was too impatient and couldn't kite the primes away from the path of the escort (from bottom spawn to top ladder ammo box). Downed 3x and ran out of gel (though one death saved me from a banshee sync kill). Died 10 feet away from the finish line. I didn't know whether to be happy or cry! Time: 95:54 Consumables at time of death: 2 rockets, no gel, 2 ops packs, 6 thermal clips. Objectives were W3 Escort (kited once) and W6 Targets. I rocketed 4x and didn't miss, so: progress! Wave 9 was not as bad as I was expecting because Falcon, though I stupidly got ambushed by husks and phantoms at least 3X each. I really should not have made it as far as I did. And guess what, I successfully used an ops pack to escape a phantom sync kill on W8! I didn't even know I had done it until I saw the feed said "Shinobu taken down by Phantom" or whatever and I was still standing! (I don't remember falling down, but I was freaking out so may have missed it.) Thank you, Techno! I'll probably never do it again, but it worked at least the once! And now I'm out of pistol rail amp 3's so need to buy some packs. Oh wow you're so close... w10 plat solo fails are about as brutally frustrating as this game gets, but it definitely shows you're able to do it! A word, though, if I may- you should pretty much never be finishing with all 6 thermal clips; remember that in addition to replenishing ammo thermal clips give you a massive boost to weapon damage (its like +100% for 8 seconds or something, I forget exactly, though I expect someone will correct me if that's not right). Its the next best thing to using a nuke; very useful as an "oh shit" button, and if nothing else it can help you take down the bullet-sponges a bit faster and make your run shorter. Good work though and keep at it- you're going to be very satisfied when you get it (with the runs you've been posting, its not a question of "if", only when).

Lol. Success.
I completed my solo yesterday in 17:30. 10 WS.
Venom SI, Valiant, Cryo IV and Geth Scanner. Only consumables I needed.
Giant/Cerberus/Bronze 😂
I did it to refresh my memory on the map and enemy, and test the weapon loadout. I may go Venom Hurricane. But I like the kit choice for the enemy, and Giant has the best kiting.
I will have a legit report, success or fail, today.

If you stay too long in one place you'll probably die, unless you're one of those players who kills spawns faster than they appear -I've played with some of those... A small caveat - moving too fast will only make stuff spread out across the map and you will be under constant fire. I think of it more as holding choke points - there are certain places on each map that let you stay in relative safety and channel enemies towards you mostly from one direction. I stay there until a dangerous unit or a concentration of units (sync-kill and or high damage) pushes me out or I notice I am about to be flanked and under cross fire. Then I move back along the edge of the map to the next choke point (ideally in a clock-wise manner to keep RHA) and hold there until it becomes too dangerous again and so on...

Totally agree, please note that my expression was "stay too long". The idea of moving clockwise between choke points is probably the best strategy you can adopt, if the map allows it.

My runs seem to be charmed so far. I didn't think I'd be saying W10 for weeks. I was thinking yesterday it must look awfully suspicious that I'm getting further each time. I'm going to have to find some method to prove I'm really doing this and am not some Korean supermodel. You're right, I should remember to use thermal clips. I pretty much save them for times when I need ammo but can't get to an ammo box, but since I pretty much set up in the corners where the boxes are I haven't needed them for that.

I am not the most efficient killer (96 minutes, ahem), so it's running laps for me. One interesting thing I've found out is that if a turret doesn't have anything to shoot after being set up it self destructs after a while. So I can now time my W8 W7 running by waiting to hear the turrets blowing up ahead of me before repositioning. This last attempt I didn't see a turret for the entirety of W8 W7! (Edit: Oops, got mah waves confused.) Winner!

Yeah, I have to remember to slow down and hold out longer on W8 so the Atlas has time to come around, otherwise I get pinched between the engine (Banshee) catching up with the caboose (Atlas). I pretty much set up in the corners, hold a bit and then dash to the next corner. The ladder corners are good for whittling down banshee armor in preparation for finishing them off at the end of the wave.

Welp, that didn't go well at all.
First attempt, SI Arc Pistol/Venom, Giant Cerberus. Wave 2 goon rush ragequit.
2nd attempt, wave 4 TTT therapy session with rockets. Quit.
+++
I think I need more deeps, because my play style is broken. Going to go full try hard with GS Flamers, maybe later.
I unfortunately have been swamped with work all weekend. Off the clock too. The glory of middle management.

Only mission successful is required. That is exactly what patrickbateman told me after my first success with the Cabal: "soloing Platinum is quite an accomplishment in itself, the more people posting there the merrier!" So do it! As for the BoTB, I decided not wear it, on any platform, though I've solo-ed platinum on all platforms (well, except the WiiU) . I mean I've played with a lot of pugs who wear it though they obviously don't deserve it, while on the other end you have people, who more than deserve it, but don't have it, because they won't bother promoting. On a personal note, after playing with some of the best (on all platforms), I've decided the title is not for me.

I must be affected by this thread because I've been running gold solos again seriously for the first time in years (to give you an idea of how long it has been, I did all the maps on gold prior to the addition of bombers and goons). I've done a few since, but mostly to make myself feel better after the quirks of players dropping out of games erroneously gave me credit toward solo mastery -- following up an unearned solo with an earned one.
The plat solo is one challenge I never bothered with either -- I'm well aware that my established playstyle is too reckless and aggressive to be effective in a plat solo, and I didn't have the patience or interest for an attempt.
Seeing this support thread has inspired me, though, so I've begun training for an attempt soon. I'm running GI/Talon on White vs. Cerb in gold over and over to get comfortable soloing that map in terms of spawn and choke points. Today I started with my worst attempt yet (bled out after getting paid on wave 3) and followed it up with my quickest solo extraction in a while (27:31, and I think there are a few players here that could be well into their second plat solo in that time), so I know it can turn around quickly.
Good luck to everyone else giving this a try, and congratulations to those that have done it already!

Day 8 Attempt 8: Giant/Reapers TSent Arc Pistol/Falcon Geth Scanner, Pistol Amp III, Incendiary IV, Cyclonic IV Wave 8 fail because fantums again. Tech armored her off my body, but got sporked as I was taking out the missile launcher. I should have run. 69:27
Objectives were W3 bottom hack (kited once) and W6 pizza (kited for #2. It was dead easy because they were so slow).
Consumables left: 6 rockets, 0 ops packs, 3 gel, 4 thermal clips. I remembered to use thermal clips but went back to face tanking and panic ops pack use, so I didn't have any to try the ops pack sync kill save. I should have rocketed the banshee/phantom combo but didn't because I wasn't sure they wouldn't respawn. This was where I thought I'd stall out for a while. We'll see if I can make it to W9 again.
Oh and I was wrong before: it's W7 with the engineers, not W8.
Edit:

The PHoF accepts all runs regardless of time. Only mission successful is required. That is exactly what patrickbateman told me after my first success with the Cabal: "soloing Platinum is quite an accomplishment in itself, the more people posting there the merrier!" So do it! On a personal note, after playing with some of the best (on all platforms), I've decided the title is not for me. Yes, it does seem ostentatious to proclaim oneself "the best of the best." I'd prefer it said Veteran or something, because I don't really feel 1337 and don't want people thinking I can curry them or anything. But I do really like the banner. It inspired me to start doing challenge points and trying new kits just to get it.
