Day 9, Attempt 9: Giant/Reapers/Platinum TSent Arc Pistol/Falcon Geth Scanner, Pistol Amp III, Incendiary IV, Cyclonic IV Wave 11 Extraction!  Time: 101:20 W3 LZ hack, kited once. W6 Pizza, kited once, kept dropping the second pizza and got stomped by 2 brutes. Gelled, rage rocketed and delivered the shrapnel laden pie. W8 out of ops packs again, killed by a phantom/banshee combo. Jumped up and rocketed them, then the next two lone phantoms in a fit of rage, because I'm screwed if I get targets anyway and I'm not reporting another W8 fail, dammit! W10 Devices, kited... twice? It's a blur. Finished the last one in the open area as the two primes, a phantom and a ravager come around the crate I'm hiding behind. Rocket them, because primes. W11, down to one rocket, one gel, no ops and 6 thermal clips (I forgot to use them again, sorry). Kited everything to the inside ammo box then ran up the ramp to the open area, hid, ran down the other ramp to the lower spawn ladder (because of phantoms camping the front entrance to the LZ), up the ladder, snuck into the LZ and used my last rocket on the phantom entering the LZ with 6 seconds left. Because screw those guys. Thank you, everyone! I couldn't have done it without you!  |

Small advice on dealing with targets, Reapers wave 6 is just like Cerberus wave 6 a bit more relaxed as you don't need to deal with Phantrolls or Banshees. There is one major advantage with wave 6 Reapers, target switching. If you get wave 6 targets nuke the first spawn and make sure that you kill both the Atlas and some of the other units at the same time, targets 2-4 will then be a different unit (usually a Ravager) which are much easier to kill. When I did my first solos I always saved 4 nukes for wave 10 due to that wave 10 targets can be very difficult without missiles. Good advice, thanks! I like target switching, but I often don't get there in time to kill them all in a clump. I think I may just rage quit in future if I get targets.  |

Of course you're not a scrub! Carrying is about using teammates as soft cover and killing quickly. Soloing is one long retreat. (Or in my case, one loooooooong retreat.  ) |

I probably am scribbier than you. I still have not tried the platinum, as my first goal is to do 30 min something gold-collectors solo with 20 headshots by wave 3 or 4. Else I think I am just not ready. Moreover I can only try on weekends as I have access to proper PC only on weekends. I can't play properly on laptops. Completed gold solo against collectors yesterday with embarrassing 54 min with TSent and incendiery4. Good thing is My TSent don't die easily even without CM. I ran power effciency and power amplifier. Seriously, I am the scrubbiest one here (my fastest gold solo was 76 minutes and it takes me four games to amass 20 headshots). If I can do it, you can do it! |

BotB doesn't mean much. Sure, some players deserve it, but just this weekend I beat a BotB Carrier TGI with my Phaeston Tsent. To his credit, I was hosting, but still. /shameless ego boost I don't know, maybe I'll give this whole plat soloing thing a whirl myself. Been considering it for some time and all the cool kids seem to be doing it  Of course, given that both my gold solos were 40+ scrubberies, I'll probably take a scrubby way out and choose Reegar. Do it, do it! You can do it! |

The thing is, Gold solos are a laugh and a breeze, I can sub-40 with most kits in the game and have a good waves survived percentage. I agree that soloing is a different skill, but I guess soloing Platinum is again a different skill. I am a scrub solo Platinum player. I am an elite off-host team player. I guess for a co-op game, I am OK with that, but my inability to translate Gold success to Platinum in the solo department is a major pain in my ass 😫 Soloing Platinum is all about being able to hold the same spot without moving too far. And that's FUCKING boring, because we are used to moving, dodging and being all over the place in team games. Well that completely depends on which map/kit/gun/faction you play and experience. Most maps can't be played like that, it's mainly done on Gigant and White as those maps have specific locations where you relatively safely can play it that way, I'd fully agree though that it's unbearably boring to watch a video of someone doing it though. |

I started to try soloing gold again, partly bc of this thread and partly to get over the monotony of afternoon pugs, here are some things I've noticed so far. Fuck wave 10 devices and targets with a rusty pipe, I'm 0/6 because that's all I seem to get. I wish I could choose what objectives I want, I don't care what wave I get them just don't want those two any more and I don't blame PC players for taking that shit out. I get tunnel vision or move around the map too quickly at times causing me to get pinched, not good. Other than a wave or two where I burn through a few gels it isn't too bad, just have to remember I'm the only target and forget that at times. Hooray, come join us in swapping tales of heartbreak and victory! Targets are terribad. I also run away too much, leading to getting surrounded. Soloing seems to be mostly about knowing when to stop and when to go, and where to go when the place you want to go is filled with stabby phantoms. |

Another wave 9 wipe. On Giant / Reaper no less, slightly embarrassing, especially as I got the control room hack in both 3 & 6. I didn't play very well, cost myself several consumables by not retreating from bad positions; all the years of pugging and having agro shields around me has given me some bad habits. Took 32 mins. I hate Geth Hunters, I cannot believe how a unit that is not really a threat in Gold becomes such a problem in Platinum. Wow, you are speedy! I think that kicks the difficulty up a notch further because you are getting in their faces more, which means they are shooting you more. You can do it! |

When you play aggressively in solo's and try to vary the gameplay by moving around (because in your mind you "feel" that you're camping) you overextend, get spawned on, surrounded and downed. And once you're downed, getting up can be stupidly frustrating. QFT! My friend made this when he was trying to teach/encourage me to solo Plat. I got scared away for another 4 years, lol. |

Thanks for your videos showing me what the Arc pistol can do! Thank you! I couldn't have done it without everyone's help and good wishes! Thanks! I can't agree here.Perhaps is boring for you,but there are people around here(me,bateman,TTT and many more) who love to solo. The themed challenge thread contains a tons of great challenges which are very far from boring and as Bateman said there are only 3 maps(glacier,white,giant) that you can hold the positions and depends from the character and the weapon.For example fire base Condor.Try solo on plat here and you will run,dodge and you will be all over the map.This is something very personally.I like to solo,so for me is not boring,but obviously for you is.Don't get me wrong,i love both,soloing and the team games.The main thing is the fun. |

And it's going to stay that way. during these past holidays i wos so bored i even tried plat solos; it was either ragequit at wave 4-5 or getting wiped due to me not wanting to waste any consumables. Not gonna try it again But congratz OP pld PS respect for having the nerves to play the match for over 100 minutes |
