Well, the choice was a tough one, but I think I've finally narrowed it down. *hides from all the Turian lovers out there*
Turians, geth, and Drell.
Turians -- They are easily one of my most beloved species, but then again they remind me of us during the cold war. Always thinking about who's got the bigger armies, the more advanced tech, smothering the opposition. I don't like that side of myself, and I hope that I never go back there.
Geth -- Because they have turned on us. Twice. Three times if you count ME2.
Drell -- Hardly represented at all in ME2 and ME3. We met, what? 2 characters?
EDIT : Plus the quarians are too damned smart for this, or did you all miss the whole "They might even have the salarians beat for stratetic yadda yadda yadda..."

I could only ditch Asari and Geth.
Geth because unless they're in a capacity in which they're with the quarians or have completely integrated socially with the organics then they'd just be a distraction.
Asari because all female race is trash. It's obvious fanservice and makes no sense no matter how they try to explain it away. Make them androgynous or get rid of them.

I get it, I feel the same way. His loyalty mission SUCKS. I'm on my third ME3 run but it's the first with Thane, and honestly I can take him or leave him. It's the memories thing...it's kinda creepy and annoying. He has his cool moments but he doesn't half feel sorry for himself. Thane's mission is also extremely buggy(the buggiest in the game in fact). As to races I'd scrap: Asari = Never cared much for this fan service race of magical blue space nymphs. Drell aka Male Asari = Served no purpose in the trilogy. Geth = I'd rather they scrap them altogether than go with the bastardized Pinocchio route of ME3 that made them lose their uniqueness as one of the few legit "alien" races. While I disagree with Drell dislike ( ) I do agree with your stance 100% on the Geth and Asari. ME2 and prior Geth were very interesting and unique. Then the pinnochio thing ruined them and EDI completely. I would have cared to chose something other than destroy had they not been limited in that way. It's the only thing I really disliked about the Rannoch arc in ME3.

I was going to go with quarians, geth, and krogan, since they're all sort of up in the air. But then my husband punched me in the shoulder until I chose drell, so there's that.
I mean, obviously we're taking krogan, since they pop up everywhere. And yes, krogan are pretty cool. But bloody hell, why in the name of all that's holy would you take them with you? They're crazy! And mean! And they hate using their brains!

DRELL ARE LEADING? This is pure blasphemy. "One was enough"? "We barely interacted with them"? Isn't that more of a reason to bring them? Psh. I think I've had enough asari/turians/krogan, personally... Which is why I picked asari. Just give us females of other species rather than filling those roles with asari, please. I don't actually care about any of the "popular" races, aside from Salarians who I just... like for some reason. I see Geth as "unnecessary" but I could be wrong. So no space bots or blue babes. (I use my third vote to save drell. fite me. )

I can agree with this survey on the drell and geth. The drell were never really a solid fixture in the MEU to start, so whether or not we ever see them again wouldn't really change the feel of the setting, and to be perfectly honest, I find their design to be rather unappealing. The geth served primarily as an enemy force, even when we had a friendly version as a companion, who dies no matter what. This makes them feel entirely disposable, especially if the story isn't about fighting robots. If I really had to pick a third, then I guess I could go with the quarians, but only because there's no way I'd ever ditch the asari, turians, krogan or salarians.

My choice was:
1: Drell, Thane didn't really bring much to ME in my opinion, he felt like nothing more than a walking codex entry, so bye-be to them
2: Salarians, Mordin was a fun characer, but aside from that, nothing really sang to me, I found them too much in appearance like the typical 'Grey' alien.
3: Geth, I mean, lets face it, if they really didn't want the war with the Quarians, why didn't they just leave Rannoch? Why fight with them at all? I Don't trust them & thus would be glad to see the back of them
Just my opinion

It certainly didn't help that there's only three of them, and that two are related to each other.

You get some more drells in the comics, but a video game should never rely on a different media to better explain a species (imo).

looking at the poll again today : I'm very surprised the drells are coming on top position to be stabbed. So many friends who liked them. Glad to see that all my fav species are on the last positions though.

It certainly didn't help that there's only three of them, and that two are related to each other. Considering tiny number of them, it wouldn't make much sense to meet them everywhere. Bioware could swap them and hanars, giving drells more of importance and possibility to shine, but it was already too late to do it in ME2. Instead we got personal drama multiplied on species drama, but some ladies like such stuff, so whatever. Enjoy your stay.

Drell, Geth and Quarians are probably the people whose absence would be easiest to fit with the lore. Or Krogan, maybe.

Drell, Salaran and Quarians. Because it's need IMO
They have to keep their hands off Turians and Krogan

Geth, Quarian and Asari for me. I've seen enough of them. Hell, they can even take the Krogan with 'em. I want more time spent with some of the other and/or completely new races.

I'd axe Salarians, Quarians and Drell. Considering we're going to an entirely different galaxy, i'm assuming we're mainly gonna be on our own and possibly sent to start a colony or something. Salarians aren't long lived, Quarians have weak immune systems and Drell simply aren't plentiful and are prone to diseases from humid worlds. It makes the most sense to have the team consist of the remaining species, as Turians and Batarians are tough for their size, humans have a large deal of genetic diversity and the Krogan 'n' Asari live for ridiculously long times.
Some of my logic here depends on the actual circumstances of why we're going to Andromeda, but I think my points still stand for the most part no matter what.
Oh, and we'll need a Volus in case we need to barter with any new aliens, since Volus are automatically able to strike deals with people they can't even speak the same language as.
