GN is such an underrated outlet. Their content is always top-notch. edit: If anyone is planning on building a new system in the next few months, here's something to consider. Now this is a leak, so take it with a grain of salt, but it does make sense that a 6c/12t Ryzen CPU would be going toe-to-toe with similarly speced Intel offerings. Also, the 1600X is part of the Ryzen 5 line, not the 7 line it's listed as. have I mentioned that whoever is in charge of naming AMD's products needs a swift kick up the arse

Dear Master Race (laptop edition) experts give it to me straight, what will likely be the absolutely lowest spec to run La Andromeda? 10fps and lowest everything is good enough for me lol, I just want to run it and be able to somehow finish... It's not possible to tell even with recommended spec, have to wait for actual release and people tweaking with it. Check out LowSpecGamer if you plan to play on a toaster www.youtube.com/channel/UCQkd05iAYed2-LOmhjzDG6g/featured

Do you know about AMD cards? AMD Vega is going to come out soon and then you should be able to get a 480 or 490 for pretty cheap cuz prices will drop when the new cards come out. I was actually debating selling both my cards and getting Top end Vega when it comes out because I like AMD better than Nvidia because Nvidia are just kinda skeezy. I don't plan to upgrade until 2018 or even 2019, there are no upcoming AAA title on PC that bother bother me and my PC is enough to play older AAA games. Ascended to mustard race in December 2016, i have yet to play MGS5, The Witcher series, Fallout 3 &Las Vegas, Skyrim, GTAV, and so on the list is exhausted. I bought the original BrickBox instead of PS2 so i miss out many PS2 games, now play those games with emulation instead.

I've found today that the closer the day for "Spec Release" gets...the more I am apprehensive about my current rig. I just read the news about "PC Reqs being release within the next 2 weeks....March 1st at the latest" (which heightens my anticipation). Even though I upgraded about six months ago and I did buy what was then (in July 2016) some top-of-the line hardware (ie the Intel 6850 and the Phoenix SLI from Gigabyte)...I have that nagging fear that my system
won't run barely even at Medium settings with lousy fps (well under 30), or that it will barely scratch the surface for the Minimum Requirements. That being said, although it is the newest tech, I am not overly hyped or sold on the Z270/7700K line-up. To me, it looks like little more than a rebadged Z170/6700 with some minor cosmetic differences. And because I wanted the extra PCI-E lanes to run true 2-way SLI in x16 along with the option of M.2...I chose the setup that (at the time) was the best way to get 40 PCI-E lanes. (Plus it was hardware that was all well within my budget, so why not?).
From the games I have (ie DA:I)...I now get an average of 105 fps on Ultra settings running at 2560x1440 with fractional if any screen tearing during the cutscenes, which is so marginal it barely even registers with me, let alone bothers me...SO I'm guessing I'll get the same performance for ME:A. If this is the case then I will be quite happy. But I can't help but wonder "would I get better performance from a 7700K with a Z270 if I had waited to upgrade?"
My full list of Upgrades as of July 2016 (from a Haswell based 4770 w/ Asus Maximus VI):
-Intel 6850K (from a stock 4770) -Gigabyte Phoenix SLI (from an Asus Maximus VI Hero) -2 EVGA 4gb 980 FTWs (from a single EVGA GTX 760 Dual FTW) -Samsung 950 Pro M.2 w/NVMe (from a WD 1TB Black in combo with a Samsung EVO 840) - G.SKILL 32GB DDR4@2400 (from 32 GB DDR3@1600 from GSKILL) -EVGA 850watt P2 (from a Corsair HX 750) -Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (from Win 7 64bit Pro)
I know I'm just ranting and worrying for nothing...I'm sure I'll be fine. This is just me blowing off steam, but thanks for reading and I'll see you in Andromeda.
I'm curious though....With the new hardware I've listed...How does that stack up against the new 7700K and, say, the Z270 from Gigabyte?

That setup should be way more than you need to run MEA, even on ultra settings. It makes mine look archaic and I'm still comfortable that I'll be running MEA just fine on mid-high settings. Then again, I'll be content with frames around 50 fps. Some people aren't happy unless they're doubling that.

I'm curious though....With the new hardware I've listed...How does that stack up against the new 7700K and, say, the Z270 from Gigabyte? Your 6850K is more powerful than the 7700K. The 7700K is a 4-core, 8-thread processor while the 6850K is 6-core, 12-thread. That said, the 7700K is slightly better for games (~3-5% more fps depending on the game) because Kaby Lake is slightly better optimized for gaming than Broadwell-E, but Broadwell-E is better for intense productivity tasks like video editing/rendering, 3D modeling, etc. Your 980s are going to continue to serve you well for a few years. Basically you don't need to upgrade for a few years, and if your system somehow struggles with Andromeda, it is 100% not your fault.

Since we're kind of on the topic, any thoughts on my setup? What upgrades would you recommend (hopefully without having to replace everything)? I was thinking I might need a new video card, but I don't know what would work well with what I currently have.

You will be fine.

I'm really struggling to understand how to build one, and I'm sure I'd waste a lot of money trying to figure it out. The majority of pre-built PCs that you'll find for around the same price as a PS4 will not be good for gaming. The closest I think you'll be able to get would be to buy a cheap system intended for office use (like a Dell OptiPlex, for example), and then install a graphics card yourself. Building a PC on your own is not a difficult process, but it is understandably daunting when you're just starting out. I would recommend watching some youtube videos on the subject and seeing if there are any "computer guys/gals" in your family/friends/coworkers that wouldn't mind helping you build a computer. Here's a parts list I was able to throw together that uses components from reputable brands, and costs about the same as a PS4. It's not a powerhouse by any means, but it's going to run circles around a PS4 for 1080p games. If you absolutely do not want to build a computer yourself, the minimum I would feel comfortable spending on a prebuilt gaming PC would be around $500-550.

400 might be a bit cheap, yeah.Might get you there as components, depending on what you can use from your current PC.
unofficialgreycolor, what kind of rig are you proposing?

Can you get a Pro in the states for $400? I'd go with that and wait till you can get a decent rig for $1k ish or so.... I've only ever regretted skimping on builds - one part skimped means 10 parts gimped further down the line. Shit yo, that's a good catch phrase for Dell or something eh

PC gaming only becomes interesting in the 800 dollars range.

There are things to think about outside of the rig itself also: controller or KB+M, cabling etc - if you're going to get a rig, you may as well do it right, no?

Let's not lie to the guy. 10 fps doesnt really qualify as be able to run it. Seriously, why bother if your pc is only gonna run at the 30 fps range. Atleast the ps4 version might have the chance to run at 60 fps.

Well for same price as PS4, you can get a decent PC that will probably run MEA just as smoothly. That's what I'm looking for. Do you happen to know such a computer so I could look it up and buy it? I'm really struggling to understand how to build one, and I'm sure I'd waste a lot of money trying to figure it out. I am no expert on this, as even I take advices from my more tech savvy friends. Plus, it depends where you live for the prices. Also it is always better to buy a PC in parts and build it after, then to buy a full package PC. I mean, geez, I remember long ago seeing some rather higher end brand new PC in a tech store, but had some shitty power supply that would have probably exploded if you turned on that PC. So yeah, you'll need help from someone who is decently tech savvy. Sadly that chap, ain't me.
