I'm happy with my new gtx 1080, I tested it with Rise of the Tomb Rider and it runs smoothly most of the time. The game looks so pretty! The only problem is in high density vegetation areas, where the game stutters a little with everything on ultra. I'm a little worried it could be the CPU, I have a i5-4670K. Do you think it could be worth it to upgrade to a i7-4790k for ME:A?

There are things to think about outside of the rig itself also: controller or KB+M, cabling etc - if you're going to get a rig, you may as well do it right, no? True. I just figure that most everyone's got that stuff lying around anyway.

And yes CPU's with only 4 cores/threads are starting to struggle in some new games..

You'll be fine with Andromeda

Since we're kind of on the topic, any thoughts on my setup? What upgrades would you recommend (hopefully without having to replace everything)? I was thinking I might need a new video card, but I don't know what would work well with what I currently have. -MSI Radeon R9 270X GAMING 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card -AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W -ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support and UEFI BIOS -CORSAIR RM Series RM1000 1000W ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply 270x is showing some age, but if this game runs like battlefield 1 you should be able to get 60 with low to medium settings Yeah, I was thinking about upgrading my graphics. I'm just not sure what my current system can support. I don't want to go spend a bunch on money on a beefy graphics card, and not be able to make good use of it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well it looks like you got a 1000w power supply. I'm not sure what card you couldn't support. As long as you have a mix of 6 and 8 pin cables left (like my card currently uses 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin connectors) you should be good. If anything you might be limited on size depending on the layout of your case, but if you look up the dimensions of your card you should be able to compare newer stuff There should be a new line of AMD cards coming out later this year, but I'm not sure when. If you're looking into upgrading soon, I'd suggest taking a look at the 1060 or 1070 (I wouldn't suggest the 1050, personally)

Or you can get a RX 480 for sub $200 these days, so you might as well go with that if you're interested in not spending money. And why do you have a 1000w power supply for a 270x? That's some major PSU overkill.

I'll wait for the official specs, but it should be enough card to run the game at maximum everything. As for the power supply, I'm not entirely sure. It's what my husband suggested. The more, the merrier? It certainly should be future-proof.

Since we are, hopefully a few days out, from the original PC specs, I was begning to wonder if my PC is strong enough for Andromeda. I have read the forums, and there is a lot of really cool system specs. I'd like to throw my machine in the ring, and see if any of you guys think it is good enough to play ME:Andromeda on high/ultra settings:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz RAM: Kingston 16GB Dual-Channel DDR3 at 788MHz GPU: ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 970 4GB HDD: Samsung 500GB SSD

You should be fine at med-high, high-ultra at 1080p if it runs as well as battlefield 1

It's just kind of sketchy to compare. Since Dice supposedly gave them help, you would hope that it would run just as well, but seriously battlefield 1 and battlefront ran outrageously well on everything. Like damn heretical pagan magic was involved for how good it looks

Unless you plan on running dual or triple cards, I wouldn't even call it future-proof since everything is getting to the point where you can run it on 330w power supplies with slight overclocks inside of cases no bigger than the Xbox One.

Well I have SW Battlefront and it runs like a charm. With Ultra Settings, it is stable at 60 FPS. I haven't played BF1, but I really hope that the game is optimized. I mean they should have "learned" from Dragon Age Inquisition.

If the game is as well optimized as Battlefront, then maybe even Ultra across the board. We'll see.

I was going to build a new pc for this game, but I want to wait and see what happens with Ryzen and Vega. They both look promising. I hope AMD delivers on both.
