I don't think I've ever seen that trailer before; I abandoned the internet a full year before ME3 came out so I wouldn't be spoiled . Jen Hale's performance rocked that trailer. Seeing it now, it shows so little from the game and I would've ended up with a very skewed idea of how things were to go down from that alone. Makes me feel better about Andromeda... *sigh* Only 42 days. 42 days to go.... Are we there yet? SoonTM.

42 days left. The first thing I remember about Andromeda was that E3 video that spawned a lot of "Look! itsnothing.gif" because BioWare showed the first glimpses of Frostbite 3 rendering Krogans and space. Nonetheless it was mildly exciting just knowing we'd get more Mass Effect. I distinctly remember Mac saying "Here's what the world's doing right now... come and play!" as if that makes any sense. "Heh, I thought that sounded cool so I wanted to say it."

Love this! Female Shepard is my Shepard, so it's awesome to see her finally get a trailer of her own - and looking so badass too! Took them long enough, though... Seems odd that they didn't do more to advertise that you could play a female protagonist in the game, when that's a big draw for a lot of people. Even I passed Mass Effect over at first, way back when I first got into games, because all the marketing I saw seemed to suggest that Sheploo was my only option (this was pre-ME3). I've since become more open to playing games with set male protagonists, but at the time I only wanted to play female characters. And since I didn't really know how to find info on games beyond looking at official stuff (like box covers and promo pics), I missed out. Really glad Sara Ryder gets to share the spotlight this time around! The sad news is that the bolded part is probably true in a very crude and twisted way, given that I remember a survey that showed male particpants favouring playing as female Shepard by quite a lot of Percentage points more than female particpants playing as Male Shepard. Which honestly makes me wonder how the quoted statement above would be recieved had the genders been swapped, I ought to think that it be ridiculed before being denounced as an outrageous sexist statement. I don't think it's sexist to prefer playing one gender over another. I've certainly never accused male players who prefer to play male protagonists (which is probably most of them) sexist. The problem is, 90% of the games in genres I happen to like have set protagonists that are male. So even where I'm more open to mixing things up (and I am now - but when I first got into gaming the only way I could enjoy them was with self-inserts), I would still need to pick female if there's the option, just to play one half the time. I imagine this might be why male players who like to play both tend to pick a female if possible as well. And since I still prefer to play female characters, if I'm on the fence as to whether I should buy a game, knowing I can play a female protagonist can be the deciding factor. To bring this back on topic, it's ultra frustrating when that option is there but I don't even get to see her in a trailer. Consider if Andromeda's trailers and demos all featured only Scott. I might not even get to hear what Sara, the character I intend to play, will sound like.

Neither do I my first playthrough will be Sara but I'm mostly choosing her because I like her personaslity and background more than Scott's but I do intend to see what playing as Scott is like as well eventually. When I first got into ME I mostly played male but these days on Bioware's games I've ended up plaqying more females than males not sure why that is but I've just enjoy playing the girls that kick ass more. In DAI I've only played 2 males I think but in that case it's mostly because I prefer the female VA's In DA2 and in the ME trilogy I find them both to be pretty equal in my opinion. Based on what I've seen of MEA as well I think it's close with the voice acting between the 2 as I liked the way Sara sounded in the December trailer with that bit of sarcasm about Sloane Kelley but I also enjoyed Scott's performance in the last cinematic trailer especially that "Get us out of here" when the ship was trapped as well which really gave me an uh oh feeling so it is a close call atm.

Yeah, I plan to play Scott too at least once, largely because Tom's voice acting (and real life personality) really sold me on the idea. Plus, I'm curious to see what Sara is like as the 'other twin' NPC. Kind of approaching it as an alternate universe scenario (love that we can do a NG+ like that). I'll definitely be doing a couple playthroughs as Sara/female Ryder first though. (Maybe more than a couple... depends on how many male LIs there are I want to romance... ) I would anyway, because as I said I prefer a female protagonist, but I'm really looking forward to Fryda's performance as well. She sounds great so far! Edit: I totally realize this is getting off topic, sorry! I'll take any further conversation on this to the 'who will you play as' thread, should anyone want to discuss it more.

Launch minus N41 days to 3.21 Mass Effect Andromeda. (Counting down 70 trailers of Mass Effect) Mass Effect 3 'Take Earth Back' Cinematic Trailer (MaleShep) - February 20th 2012 Mass Effect 3 'Take Earth Back' Cinematic Trailer (FemShep) - February 20th 2012“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." [Charles Dickens]A double dose today, with both versions of the 'Take Earth Back' trailer. I feel so conflicted about this (these) trailers, it would be interesting to read what others think. On the pro side, the trailer looks gorgeous, reusing some footage from the 2010 Teaser Trailer in its extended cut. Plainly a CGI cinematic, i.e. not in engine. MaleShep looks good, though not sure about Sharon Osborne and the Ashley stand-in... More troubling, the whole set-up of the trailer, the Normandy battling in the skies, Shepard leaping through reaper-held ruins, and the motto 'Take Earth Back' simply didn't set the expectation in my mind that the actual game could pay off with its actual ending (and we've debated that one haven't we ). In my opinion, both one of the best and one of the worst Mass Effect trailers: Glossy, shiny, and somewhat dishonest.

In my opinion, both one of the best and one of the worst Mass Effect trailers: Glossy, shiny, and somewhat dishonest. Definitely agree with you on this one. First off, I love the call back to Lyndon B. Johnson's "Daisy" election ad from 1964: And I agree that it's beautifully done, even though I'm generally not a fan of CG trailers (I prefer in-game stuff). I think if they'd just kept it to the section before Shepard and supermodel-Ashley show up I would've been okay with that not being in the game. But as it is I agree it's misleading, and the actual mission on Earth is very underwhelming in comparison to what it's suggested we'll get here. Now, I'm not one of those 'still not over the ending!' types, but... I also never saw any of these trailers. And they definitely give you this sense that taking back Earth is going to be this huge portion of the game. And it wasn't. We spend almost no time there before we're whisked away, and the final battle mission feels like any other (if anything I found Rannoch and Tuchanka more memorable). So I can understand the disappointment in that regard. So I'm actually glad they've done away with trailers like these, as pretty as they are.

Those were pretty amazing visuals. Makes the actual game feel really tame now!
Apart from the quality of the graphics I don't think it was that misleading. The battle for Earth was a hard slog against multiple waves of really tough enemies. There were tanks and gun ships involved and an awesome space battle. It didn't happen exactly the same but I don't see an issue, myself.

So is this thread ever going to show anything from Andromeda? The countdown lasts 70 days, I'd say the chance of that would be 100%.

Mass Effect 3 Launch Trailer - March 2nd 2012
"There's a lot of people on Earth dying, while we gather our strength..."
This Mass Effect 3 Launch Trailer, was much more authentic than the last CGI trailer, in my view. Lot's of good stuff and lots of feels...

Time to kick some Cerberus ass .Must admit I did feel for Reela though who dies in order to stop the reapers in the monastary

I think this would go here unless I am wrong, I went to my local gamestop and asked if there was a midnight release of the game. The workers at my local gamestop told me that there was no midnight release but said that I could pick up mass effect andromeda on march 20th at 9pm - anyways that's what my local gamestop told me

I'd already been playing MP a month when those were released mid-March because I went into the early access release. For me, MP was the most fun of ME3. I played for hours.
