Launch minus N62 days to 3.21 Mass Effect Andromeda. (Counting down 70 trailers of Mass Effect) Today's trailer is a 'cast reveal' trailer which was shared at the end of 2009. Did you enjoy this 'behind the scenes' reveal? I LOVE these! Behind the scenes anything for games are so fun to watch, but ones that focus on the voice actors are especially my favorite. And this one reminded me what an excellent cast we had in ME2 especially. And the actors are so much of what made those characters memorable to me, in addition to how they're written. I actually started watching the Expanse, and the moment Shohreh Aghdashloo came on and spoke I was like, "It's Shala'Raan!!!" Also, had no idea Carrie Anne Moss was Aria! I really hope we get some videos like this for Andromeda - the sibling one was great, but I'd love to see some for the rest of the cast once they're revealed.

Yay good Choice since the Illusive man is about to get possession as the USA president soon Interesting comparison. Wasn't the Illusive Man a puppet of The Catalyst?

It's always great and a little weird to see and hear the people behind the characters and it's just so odd to hear the voices you know so well but on 'someone else's' face, coming out of 'someone else's' mouth. And I flat out love Martin Sheen - from Apocalypse Now to The West Wing to ME2 - Bioware did really well to get someone of his standing and calibre and the game is all the better for it. I hated the Illusive Man but it was a great performance.

The voice cast of Mass Effect is pretty godly over all. Something DA actually lagged behind a little bit until Inquisition. (Bull, Dorian, Cassandra, OMG Solas)

The voice cast of Mass Effect is pretty godly over all. Something DA actually lagged behind a little bit until Inquisition. (Bull, Dorian, Cassandra, OMG Solas) I don't know about that as a lot of people wh odid ME hasve also done DA as well. Bull's vioce actor also did James Vega. Brian Bloom who does Varric played a few characters in ME aswell so did Claudia Black who did Morrigan also did the voice of Admiral Xen and Liara's father Matriarch Aethyta. I think the voice acting is pretty good in both series.Whether it's as good in Andromeda we'll have to wait and see but based on the snippets we've seen and heard I'm hopeful.

Mass Effect 2 Cinematic Trailer - December 23rd 2009
"He has no idea what he's getting into..."
In the latter half of 2009, BioWare shared exclusive Mass Effect 2 material with IGN. Some of it was released later without IGN branding, some of it never was, some of it was released in a different format later on.
We won't be presenting each different variation of trailer in our countdown because of duplication, but we'll post links and videos (if appropriate) where there is a second version that was used in the IGN coverage.
This cinematic trailer itself comes in two versions, a long and short version (this being the extended one).
Over the next few days we'll share a series of character trailers, that BioWare entitled 'Fight for the Lost' (though who exactly the 'Lost' that were being fought for are is a little shaky)
As for the cinematic trailer, what do you think of the (diminishing?) practice of releasing such trailers that are not actually the game?

I have mixed feelings about these... While on the one hand they're very cool and fun to watch, on the other it's hard not to compare it to what we actually get in the game, and feel like the game lacks in comparison. I much prefer seeing actual in-engine stuff as that gives me a realistic sense of what I can expect to see in the final product. Warts and all. Although what occurs to me is that trailers like this are becoming much less necessary now - because game graphics have evolved to become on par with those CG trailers of the past. I look at that trailer and think - you know, they could totally create scenes just like that with the games we have today! And I'd rather the budget that would go toward marketing like that be spent instead on making cinematics of that quality in the actual game. (Though that's likely a rhetorical scenario - I imagine marketing budgets are a totally separate from those allocated for development.)

Its always really impressed me that the game and indeed even the marketing material made it very clear, in no uncertain terms, how important the loyalty missions were to the end results of the game.

Fortunately in my case ME1 and 2 had already been out a while by the time I got them and I only watched the gameplay vids none of the promo trailers or anything so I knew what I was getting when I bought it. Got both games for £15-£20 probably the best £20 I ever spent considering how many hours I've sunk into it. ME3 was the only game I bought full price as I got that one on release day.

Was thinking next time I do a femshep I might do it again.

To the point that for me it gets a little ridiculous, tbh I never saw most of these trailers before and I have to say that if I had no other info and I saw only this, I don't think I'd have ever tried ME2 I love Thane and Jack, but they sound so generic and uninteresting here

Makes them seem so unidimensional taking away all nuances from them. I hadn't discovered ME by then yet, so I know watching this now isn't the same as watching them in the lead up to release, but these surely wouldn't have built much hype in me. The other non character trialers were way better though.
