Once again, the "toxic" BWF saves the day. I thought I had the Cerberus Pack installed. That removes the requirements for needing a code for the Cerberus Network. Now I'm trying to see if that's been installed. However, the PSN is being a pain in the ass. Never. Fucking. Fails. I've had nothing but issues with BW DLC for both ME and DA. It seems to happen no matter the platform. Edit: So of course I can't just install the Cerberus Pack on it's own. Oh no, I have to resintall the game from scratch, starting with the Cerberus Pack. I had told Allan very bluntly that the issues BW have with DLCs are truly dreadful. I'll let ya'll know when I've actually got everything working again. Here's to another 2 hours to get ME2 downloaded and installed. For Odin's sake, this is rather stupid.

Well, this sucks. I need a one-time access code to get into the Cerberus Network. It's supposed to be in a email attached to the PSN account. The problem is that I just looked and there is no access code anywhere. I've gotten receipts but no code. I've downloaded the PSN version. Meep? Its been years, but is there a code inside the case for you to enter. At least that's what I remember.

The problem is that I just looked and there is no access code anywhere. I've gotten receipts but no code. I've downloaded the PSN version. Meep? Its been years, but is there a code inside the case for you to enter. At least that's what I remember. This is the digital version from the PS3 PSN. And now I'm kicking myself. The digital version used to have a code for the Cerberus Network that would be emailed to you. About two years ago they stopped using it all together. The Cerberus Pack on the PSN would enable newer players to use the Network. I thought I had had that installed. Turns out I didn't. So rather than be smart and look through my downloads in my account history, I was an idiot and went to the PS Store. Which took forever to connect. When I selected the Cerberus Pack under the ME2 addons, it tried to reinstall the entire game. I uninstalled ME2 and I'm getting it going again now. The Cerberus Pack is immediately next in the DL queue. So yeah, that was two hours of my life wasted because I wasn't through enough with my troubleshooting. I had already downloaded it, and it was there in my Transaction History in my Account options. It would have let me DL it on it's own. Google wasn't any help in this case. I feel a bit dumb at the moment.

Jonathan Shepard:
1. With Lawson and Zaeed, helped the Salarian "Professor", Mordin Solus, cure the plague that was infecting Omega. Humans and vorcha were immune to it and everyone suspected humans had created it - the vorcha weren't smart enough. Mordin believed the Collectors were behind it. When I confronted the vorcha they admitted that the Collectors had hired them to release the plague in exchange for better lives. Afterward, Mordin joined us. He's an interesting character.
2. Stopped some YMIR mechs from destroying crates valuable to Cerberus.
3. Medical upgrade on the ship healed the scars from two years worth of surgery. Had the mechs not gone crazy at the Lazarus Project, this would have been taken care of before I woke up.
4. Came across the MSV Estevanico, a freighter that had gone missing. The thing was teetering on the edge of a cliff and falling apart. Retrieved data from its mainframe. Felt very mercenary since I got paid for it.
5. Went to Purgatory to sign for the release of a prisoner named Jack. All I knew was it was that Jack was a powerful biotic. Warden Kuril seemed to be doing good work but then tried to capture me in exchange for ransom money. After all was said and done, Purgatory was out of business and that "colorful" Jack was added to the crew. She's not a fan of Cerberus, which is something to check off in the plus column, but she's also a psychopath. If she can take orders she'll be useful.
5. After more conversation with Taylor, I realize the guy practically worships me. He treats me like we're both still in the Alliance and that I'm his commanding officer. This'll work out. Think I can trust him.
6. Found a crashed freighter, the MSV Corsica. LOTS of mechs active there. Jack, Mordin and I took care of the situation.
7. Jarrahe Station. Infected VI and the source of all those crazy mechs I've encountered since waking up. Miranda, Garrus and I put a stop to it. There may be more mechs out there but at least no more infected mechs will come about.
8. Went looking for the krogan Warlord Okeer. Found a lot of tank-bred krogan. Stopped the production, but Okeer died to save his greatest creation, a powerful krogan that calls himself Grunt. Most of my crew were against me releasing Grunt from his tank but I think it'll work out okay. He seems to like me.

Among the sidequests I did yesterday evening was Citadel: Signal Tracking. I didn't complete this one on my first playthrough; tried a couple of times but always messed up the mini-game that disabled the bomb. This time, I noticed the power junction next to the computer bank and it occurred to me that Shepard could just whip out her rifle and put a few rounds into it... Yeah, the squad took a little collateral damage from the explosion, but that's what shields and medi-gel are for! There was a line in the AI's dialogue about it being inevitable that organic life-forms would destroy or control synthetics. Nice bit of at-the-time-unintentional foreshadowing. (Obviously, the AI didn't get enough EMS to unlock the green ending )

Following up on evidence she found on Feros, Miriam Shepard ordered the Normany to the planet Nodacrux in the Vostok system. Nodacrux proved to be an annoying planet with mountain ranges in precisely the wrong places; alternatively, ExoGeni had built their facility in a location where they clearly did not want it to be found... En route, Shepard, Tali and Wrex encountered some shambling Thorian Creepers. The presence of plant zombies so far from Feros proved that something was amiss.
Shepard and co found the ExoGeni lab infested with Creepers; the three of them made short work of them, though avoiding their acid attacks in such close quarters proved difficult. Holed up in a room at the far end of the facility, Shepard found lead scientist Dr Ross, a few exhausted-looking colleagues and a handful of security guards. Their attempts to breed docile, domesticated Creepers for use as slave labour had gone south after the Thorian's destruction; ExoGeni's reckless experimentation had cost the lives of most of the research staff.
Dr Ross's ethics proved questionable to the end as she attempted to bribe Shepard into letting her go. When Miriam refused to play along, Ross ordered her cut-price security guards to open fire. The ExoGeni staff were dead within seconds. As with Dr Saleon, it all seemed so unnecessary; why do people never want to come quietly?
Shepard's next assignment took her to Chohe in the Cacus system. A medical research station had been occupied by biotic supremacists who were holding the staff as hostages. In order to minimize the chances of the hostages being harmed, Admiral Hackett did not want to risk sending a conventional unit to storm the facility, instead requesting that Shepard lead a small commando team.
Reasoning that a biotic terror group might respond best to a fellow biotic, Shepard picked Liara to join the squad; along with Tali, they took the Mako to the research lab and made their way inside. Unfortunately, diplomacy was not an option; the terrorists' immediate response was to open fire with their guns and their powers. Realizing that bloodshed was unavoidable, Shepard ordered her squad to use pistols only and aim carefully in order to avoid hitting any of the hostages.
The situation was resolved as best it could be, with the terrorists subdued and none of the hostages caught in the crossfire.

Ed: Had to fight Saren again, but once again, Liara did all the hard work for me.
With a heavy heart, Jenna left Virmire, nice planet, but she'll never see it that way after her friend died there, and Jenna has lost a lot of friends in the past. She's slightly miffed that nobody is as cut up about Ashley's death as her and Kaidan. She headed to the citadel, under orders although Udina, the Council and Anderson called her mission a success, she didn't see it that way, and doubts that the Williams and Kirrahe families would either. She wants to get Saren for this , more than ever. Liara believes the conduit is on Ilos, but the council seem reluctant to let Jenna and the Normandy go there, in case they start a war. Luckily Anderson still has his N7 mojo and punched out Udina. (i hate that guy! I know i could make him councillor and in fact, it makes more sense than Anderson, but i can't, i hate him...I don't like that Saracino chap either. Bloody Brexiteers Sorry, the author/editor is a Brit and still sore about that. ..anyway, back to Mass Effect. Ed.) Onward to Ilos, making a brief stop on Nonuel(or something like that) to take out a Cerberus base, where it was snowing, indoors, underground...those crazy mad scientists, eh? Kaidan popped round to offer a little moral support, but ended up stopping the night. (I think i liked the ManShep/Ash version better, Kaidan seemed like he came round for a chat and got distracted, Ash seemed to know exactly what she wanted when she went in and made sure she got it.) Jenna ran around on Ilos rather more than strictly necessary, because the map reader got lost, and is now having a chat with Vigil.

Saren already had the green ending covered in ME1 Too bad the ending didn't show him jumping in the beam like it showed TIM for control and Anderson for destroy. Of course that could never happen since ME3 is the third game in a trilogy and the best place to start playing

On Noveria, the Turian called Lorik Qui'in can be spoken too in an infinite loop where you can collect 25 paragon/renegade points over and over again. If you do this for both paragon and renegade, you can fill 80% of each morality bar to unlock two more uncharted world missions. Just to clarify: you only need to unlock one of the missions (with 80% Paragon or 80% Renegade bar) to unlock both systems, but you will need to fill both persuasion bars to 80% to unlock both missions. Note that you would need to spend points into both Charm and Intimidate talents to use the Lorik Quin exploit to unlock both missions on a single playthrough, which takes away points from your other more useful combat talents. So generally, players tend to go either Paragon or Renegade, and put points into either Charm or Intimidate but not both.

Well, the pull of Mass Effect was much too strong for me to resist, so after about a week of not playing any games, I started playing Mass Effect yet again. It is quite sad I have spent a seemingly good chunk of my life playing these games. Probably best that I don't think about it.
So I did spend some time over this past week copying some information from the old forums to some files on my desktop. That should make it easier for me to find when I need the information.
And then yesterday, I popped Mass Effect 1 back into the old Xbox and loaded up Shawna Shepard, who was standing behind Joker and Kaidan on the Normandy. Shawna Shepard is an Infiltrator. I am not putting any points into Charm or Intimidate, so I can put all the points into her combat talents. She uses Shotguns as a bonus talent, and will essentially by a Soldier that can unlock everything herself.
Shawna Shepard will be my 'anti-biotic' playthrough in ME2 (all biotic squadmates die in the suicide mission). I'm going to kill Wrex in ME1 as well. She will be a Flashbang infiltrator in ME2, something I've been meaning to do for a while. She will be a Marksman Sniper Infiltrator in ME3. I think Infiltrator snipers are overrated in ME3 Single Player on Insanity, but i figure I should have at least one, right?
To recap Shawna Shepard's first few hours in ME1: 1. Landed on Eden Prime. Knocked out a researcher. Killed all Geth.
2. Went to the Citadel. Killed a bunch of people, recruited Garrus, Wrex, and Tali, and exposed Saren as a traitor Became a Spectre. Wrex shot Fist (good boy!).
3. Did a bunch of odd jobs for people on the Citadel. Highlights include: killing Chorban, helping Schells, and killing a Krogan threatening Dr. Michel.
4. Found Admiral Kahoku's men and killed a Thresher Maw.
5. Landed on Therum, killed a bunch of Geth and a Krogan Battlemaster. Rescued Dr. Liara T'soni.
Ended at level 19. Need to play at least one more large-ish side mission to reach level 20 to unlock Luna so I can get my specialization and maybe enough level IV equipment to sell so I can buy the Medical Exoskeleton from Dr. Michel.

--Got my issues with ME2 taken care of. A tip for folks that might use the PSN version: In order to make sure you access the "on-disc" goodies, you need to go through the PSN store and look for the Cerberus Pack add on. It won't be shown on the DLC menu accessed through the game itself. It'll be on the PSN and it is free. Once you have the Cerberus Pack installed, the Cerberus laptop won't open. Don't be a worry wart like me. You'll be connected and Kasumi and Overlord will automatically be authenticated. From there, go to Extras on the menu and go to Downloadable Content. Then should see Arrival as well as the gear bundles and alt apperance packs. It's my husband's day off, so it'll probably be a day off for my Shep too. I'll be getting the rest of the DLC installed probably tomorrow. Then I'm going to go back to ME1. Next time! --Noveria. Surely nothing could go wrong. --Bring Down the Sky --Back to the Citadel to check for grenade upgrades --Feros --Virmire <sniffle> --Citadel --Ilos --Smile at the ending theme. It's my favorite in the series.

Caesar, you made it! And I finally continued my ME playthrough, and after a couple of tweaks, Maxine Shepard successfully made it into ME3. How many times do I have to start this over? You are the 4th journal I start since I boarded the Normandy, and you're not even a lovely paper one, just a lousy datapad. Oh well, next time I'm on the Citadel I need to get me a proper one. But where do I start! A lot has happened - again. After we took out the Collectors I sat in the brig for 6 months. For working with Cerberus. It didn't matter that the reason I did that was to help colonists, but now I'm back with the Alliance. Reinstated. I was on Earth when it all happened. Admiral Anderson and I went to see the defense committee, and from there, it all went too fast. I met Ashley on the way, the Reapers invaded, we had to leave Earth, and Anderson stayed behind. James, who was my guard during the past 6 months (and is really funny), Ashley and I were ordered to go to Mars by Admiral Hackett. There we found Liara, who told us she had found plans for a weapon to fight the Reapers. Sounds great, huh? And guess what, that damn Illusive Man had used an infiltration unit to steal the data! Almost managed, too. Ashley got hurt bad in the process, but she's at Huerta Memorial on the Citadel now. Liara and I went to see the Council to get help for Earth, but they refused. I should've expected it. However, the turian councilor came to Udina's office and told me if I fetch their primarch, he can participate in a war summit. I like it, I hope I can appeal to them directly. Just now I got to meet some old faces, and some new crew additions, Samantha and Steve. They seem really nice. It's good to be back 'home', in the Alliance. We are currently on the way to Menae, Palaven's largest moon. Palaven. Garrus is there, and the Reapers hit it already. I'm worried sick about him and I miss him way too much. I found the ship models he gave to me and I just really hope he's alright... Please be alright... Pics! Maxine got a new haircut because she was really bored during her detention She also got new lips because the ones from ME1 and 2 are not in 3 anymore The Cerberus talk Energy Drain, wee! Haha, cloaked and hit the bastard a couple times. Headshots with Cryo are fun Citadel-bound. Good old Council meetings.

Say, do you use just face codes for her? Or do you use mods as well? I'm asking because I'm wanting a good face code for ME3 that actually looks like my current character. Apparently you and I are sharing the same taste in our PC's looks this time 'round.

Update! Jenna, with help from Garrus and Kaidan, has just defeated Saren! She had a grand old time flinging geth around the Citadel tower before facing Saren. She talked him down (coz she's turned out about as paragon Scott, i guess i'll try being a bit more tetchy in ME2) and having left Liara back on the Normandy, had a proper showdown with his shell. She refused to name a human councillor, surely there's a democratic process in here somewhere? I'd never done that before, and saved me from having to vote Udina to ring the changes. Onwards to ME2 and the next difficult decision...Kaidan or Garrus?

Shawna Shepard: 1. Went to the Citadel. Told Admiral Michaelavich to get lost. Granted an interview to a reporter, gave cagey answers to questions about classified subjects(*). Mediated a dispute between a brother and sister. Helped another reporter with a story. Told Admiral Kahoku about his missing men. Reached level 20.
2. Went to Luna, destroyed the rogue VI. Chose the Commando specialization. Went back to the Citadel and sold a bunch of equipment to buy the Medical Exoskeleton VIII.
3. Landed on Eletania. Used the trinket given to me by the Asari Consort. Blew up some monkeys. Found a data module, killed a bunch of Geth. (Died a few times; apparently I am just not yet at the 'I cannot die' stage of the game yet like I thought I was.)
4. Raided some Cerberus bases, killed a bunch of Cerberus personnel and some Cerberus research projects. Found Kahoku's body.
* I kinda wish choosing neutral responses did not give you a "you did not come across very well" from Hackett. I actually think the neutral responses are very well handled.

Jonathan Shepard:
1. Went to Horizon. Lost half the colony to the Collectors, which is still better than any other time the Collectors hit a colony. It was at the end. I saw Kaidan. He was so hurt that I was there. Being with Cerberus didn't help. He thought maybe I'd gone undercover and not told him. As if I would ever willingly leave him behind? We both said some things. He couldn't leave the Alliance to come with me and I wasn't as forthcoming as necessary. Not happy right now.
2. Found an M-44 Hammerhead and used it to investigate the MSV Rosalie. Collected some research data.
3. Got a message from Kaidan. At least there's hope.
4. Went to liberate a refinery from the Blue Suns. Turned out this was personal for Zaeed since he helped found the Blue Suns with Vido Santiago until he was ousted. Zaeed was willing to sacrifice the workers for vengeance but I wasn't having it. Zaeed wasn't happy with the outcome but it was his own damn fault for setting the refinery on fire.
5. A news report says my mother turned down a rear admiral promotion to captain a starship. In my memory. I guess it's time to let her know I'm alive.
6. Recruited thief Kasumi Goto, bought some more fish, and then helped Kasumi steal her dead lover's graybox.
7. With Kasumi, helped Jack destroy Teltin Facility. It was a Cerberus op. Again, shows why I don't trust them but I still need their resources.
8. Found the facility that infected a VI and countless mechs. Shut it down with Kasumi and Zaeed.
9. Boarded a Collector ship with Miranda and Jack. It was a trap, one that the Illusive Man knew about but didn't tell me I was walking into. We got some valuable intel about how to get through the Omega-4 relay. It's obvious I can never trust the Illusive Man.
10. Found a mine with a very weird YMIR mech. I had to keep inserting power cells to make it work. That's not the odd part. It kept going into a crouch and gliding into position rather than walk. Whatever. Got the job done.
11. Restored the magnetic field protecting a colony.
12. Followed up on the so-called Firewalker project. Led me to a volcano research center. Activating sensors triggered an eruption and I had to hightail it out of there.
13. Followed a Blood Pack beacon to a planet with creatures that can fly and breathe fire. Could these things once have come to Earth and been the legend of dragons? Shut down the beacon and took out the mercs with Grunt and Zaeed.
14. Found Eclipse mercs in an abandoned mine. Went it with Garrus and Jack. Found some encrypted data. Removed the mercs.
15. Made my way to Illium. Brought Miranda and Jacob with me. I figured it was past time to help Miranda out with her sister. It didn't go as planned. Miranda was betrayed by a close friend. However, Oriana was protected. I still had to break up a fight between Miranda and Jack afterward but they agreed to set it aside until the mission is over.
16. Met an asari with a message from the rachni queen about helping me against the Reapers. Also ran into Gianna Parsini from Noveria. She bought me a beer and I helped her nail a corrupt asari merchant. Just like old times. Returned a lost locket to an asari. Helped Shiala out with a bad deal she and the Zhu's Hope colonists made with Baria Frontiers. Convinced Conrad Verner - who has been trying to follow in my footsteps since I died - that the asari who conned him into trying to get the deed to Eternity - was actually a terrorist. He means well. Helped an asari and a krogan get back together. Returned some family genetic data to a salaraian who had lost it when fleeting Dantius Tower.
17. Recruited the drell assassin Thane Krios. His assignment was to assassinate Nassana Dantius. She's a despicable woman and had it coming, not something I casually say about a person. Jacob doesn't trust Thane. Then again, Jacob made a conscious decision to join the Cerberus.
18. Found Tali in the middle of geth space, rescued her and recruited her. Now I've got a few people on board who I can trust who don't like Cerberus but are with me anyway.

Say, do you use just face codes for her? Or do you use mods as well? I'm asking because I'm wanting a good face code for ME3 that actually looks like my current character. Apparently you and I are sharing the same taste in our PC's looks this time 'round. I think you're talking to me, right? Sorry if not Here's her code (No mods because I'm on PS3 too) 741.6IH.M11.111.9W1.11W.8P8.111.F76.335.BC5.476

I actually finished my first ever ME3 play through. In spite of watching many YouTube videos beforehand, I cried at the end not to mention I accidently picked the wrong ending two times and still cried each time. I've just started my 2nd ME1 game now. lol. I know, late to the party!

Continuing from earlier post.
*****
She ran into bodies outside the room which turned out to be on the upper deck. She picked up a grenade launcher beside a corpse dressed in the same shipsuit she had discarded earlier. Just in time to knock out a trio of security mechs just stepping into the corridor on the lower deck. There was no other exit other than a open lift so she took it down to the lower deck and ran past a few burst pipes spewing flames.
More corridors, more rooms beyond. In one, she found personal recordings of a dark-haired woman whose voice sounded very much like the one which had woken her. The voice hadn't spoken for some time now, perhaps she was busy with something else. Shepard listened as the woman listed medical procedures that were apparently performed on her. She was no doctor but if she was injured, it sounded bad. She tried other work consoles and found another belonging to a Watson who talked about the project, her apparently, whinging about his pay and someone called Miranda. Perhaps the dark-haired woman? She was stunned to hear the the entire project amount to four billion credits.
This has to be a joke. Four billion? What kind of a fucking project would cost that much? And all of it on me? That can't be. Who the hell would want to spend that much on me? And why? Why would the project cost so much? What the hell is it? Am I Shepard or something else?
She looked down at her hands, flexing them. What am I? What had happened? The last thing I remember was someone destroying the Normandy and me with it. Did...Shepard die? Am I something else?
Perhaps a clone? She leaned against the wall, not certain what she ought to be doing. She could remember things now but were they real? The floor and wall trembled, reminding her that the facility she was in was under attack. Should she even bother to try to save herself? Several images flashed before her eyes, people she knew. If she could get out, perhaps they could help her find the answers.
She pushed away from the wall. That was what she would do. She exited the room and proceeded through the corridors with caution. At one point, she passed a large window that looked into another corridor. Someone was standing there, a man who called her name. Before she could answer, he erupted into a spray of blood that splattered the window. She ducked out of sight in a shallow alcove as a heavy mech marched into view. It paused, looked through the window and turned away.
There was a familiar logo on its chest. The same one emblazoned on the shipsuits. If the mechs were originally part of the security network of the facility, it was clear they had been compromised. Someone did it. Part of the staff? Or an invader?
Once the mech had vanished, she continued. The sounds of gun fire grew louder and louder as she approached a large door. It opened readily. A man spun from the corner of the wall, the pistol in his hand aimed at her. He lowered it immediately. "Shepard!" He sounded surprised. "I thought you're still out." He turned back to the corner as chips flew off the edge. She lowered her pistol and examined him minutely as she drew nearer. Same suit and logo. Facility staff then.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"Heck if I know," he said, peeping out cautiously and hastily withdrew as more shots screamed his way. "I was getting ready for some shut eye when wham! The whole station went on the alert."
"Station?"
"Yeah, this is a medical outpost."
"Outpost?" She had thought the facility was on Earth or a planet. Project and an outpost were a bad combination.
"Sorry, name's Jacob. I'm part of station security. I don't know who screwed up the mechs but we have to take them out. Five of them set up a shooting gallery across the hall, string out in a line. No problem with some bobbing. You up for it?"
That suggestion gave her a clue of his background. She relaxed slightly but not too much. "Sure."
"Right. I'll take the high. On the beat of three. Ready?" he eyed her expectantly.
"Ready."

I actually finished my first ever ME3 play through. I just finished my first trilogy playthrough in over four years. And I'm pretty sure its the first time I've played a character through "back-to-back"....without waiting several years for the next game to come out to do an import. Its the first time I've played through any of the post-release DLC for ME3. The first two games are still awesome. The third is still kind of a letdown, starting out kinda dumb but veering rapidly back into the "bearable" range storywise. I thought the Leviathan and Citadel DLCs recaptured a lot of the magic of the earlier games, while providing the decent goodbyes our beloved squad NPCs lacked in the vanilla game. And I have to say that overall it was a _really_ good RPG experience. Even the bulk of ME3. Probably because I played all the games so closely together, and was already familiar with them, I noticed a lot of little things I never had before. It was the time I ever ran into First in Afterlife, Or noticed the Blasto 6 advertisement, or listened to the Asari Commando's full story in Huerta Memorial (One of the best written and disturbing sequences anyone at Bioware has ever produced, and its mostly hidden. WTF?). I'd still recommend the trilogy as a whole package to anybody who like RPGs. The world building is amazing. BUT.... sitting here an hour after choosing "destroy", I have to say the ending, if anything, feels even more terrible than it did back in 2012. Almost everything about the last 20 minutes or so is just ... so...awful. Cavernous plot holes, frustrating gameplay, obnoxiously pretentious presentation, jaw-droppingly dumb exposition topped off with obviously false choices. I had forgotten just how shockingly bad the ending was. I'd rather listen to Anakin Skywalker whine about sand for 12 hours (Followed by an hour of stomping around wailing "NooooOOOOOooooooOOOOOO!"), or watch a Wesley Crusher-themed STNG marathon or endure a complete playthrough of Duke Nukem Forever than play through that last 20 minutes again. So I won't. I'm starting another playthrough, but it will probably end well before Shepard shoots the Shield Marauder.

Admiral Hackett radioed Miriam Shepard and informed her that a nuclear bomb from the First Contact War had been located on Agebinium in the Voyager Cluster. Reasoning that she would need a tech team to defuse the bomb, Shepard took Tali and Kaidan planetside to investigate. Along the way, they found a deserted campsite; the camp looked recent, but there were no signs of the occupants. Odd... It turned out to be a trap set by Elanos Haliat, the pirate responsible for the Skyllian Blitz. He had used it to bait Shepard and intended to set it off in order to regain the prestige that he lost when the Blitz failed. But, yet again, he failed; if he wanted to blow Shepard up, he shouldn't have given her the luxury of a ten-second timer. That was all the time that she and her comrades needed to slap 300 units of omni-gel onto the bomb, defusing it the easy way. Escaping from the abandoned mine, Shepard and co discovered Haliat and his men holed up in the camp they'd passed earlier. Negotiation was not an option; the three of them put Haliat's squad down. A precis of Shepard, Tali and Liara's experience on Noveria: Agreed to help Lorik Qui'in obtain evidence against Anoleis, then convinced him to testify in court. By doing so, Shepard took Anoleis down without meeting him. It struck me that this sort of manoeuvring is Shepard at her most Spectre-like. Shame that Noveria doesn't recognize Citadel government or she'd have been able to use her Spectre credentials in lieu of a garage pass. Refused to help Opold with smuggling or Mallene Calis with industrial espionage. While storming Peak 15, discovered the simple joy of casting Lift on a charging krogan. Their forward momentum sends them flying right over the squad's heads (I do like the atmosphere inside Peak 15 when the rachni are first revealed, there are a couple of jump scares when rachni soldiers appear out of nowhere). Played a nice game of Towers of Hanoi to get Mira back online, no omni-gel required. (Aside: I'm a software developer and have written Towers of Hanoi programs a few times at various points during the past thirty years, it's a standard programming exercise for teaching recursive programming). Assisted Dr Cohen with the antidote for the toxin, and thus obtained a pass to get through to the secure lab the easy way. Got jumped by Alestia Iallis and her squad in the process; they were defeated in a matter of seconds. My memories of the Benezia setpiece battle from the first game were a bit hazy, it happened sooner than I expected, and was also considerably easier than I recall it being before. Although I've been messing about with untrained weapons, I didn't take any chances in this one, switched Shepard back to her pistol, spammed powers at the enemies, took them out one at a time and stayed mobile. It wasn't a long battle. Released the queen. This is the same decision as I made during my first playthrough, it's not a decision I want to change a/ because I know the consequences of doing so, and b/ because I can't think of a Paragon justification for making the opposite choice. Almost got overwhelmed by rachni during the hot lab purge; eventually just thought "oh, screw it" and sprinted for the elevator. And, arguably most importantly: earned the Quarian Ally achievement. For me, it has a double meaning: not only is Tali an ally of Miriam Shepard, but Miriam is an ally of the quarian people. Quarians
